the 40 GB PS3 does not have backwards compatibility, but the other PS3 can play PSU.

Forget the ps2, get a ps3, but not the 40Gb one, because it has crappy backward compatibility and that prevents you from playing PSU. Then again, I guess this totally depends on your wallet. A new 80Gb ps3 is several times the cost of a new ps2. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

But for now the 80gig is fine

60gb is the true PS3, but it's hard to find, so if you can't find one of those, get the 80gb one.

60gb is backwards compatable with every PS2 and PSONE game ever made, because it actually has the PS2 hardware, and emotion engine inside of it.

The 80gb PS3 has software emulation only, and can play something like 77% of all PS2 and PSONE games.

The 40gb PS3 has no software emulation and lacks memory card slots, it supposedly can play some PSONE games, but 2 usb ports are removed.

So, 60gb (best), or 80gb (ok), are the way to go.
