Whatever happened to...?

Now, I don't know about you... but it came upon me in a heated discussion about cheating during a game.

Whatever happened to 'nice (rare)!'?

I mean, I entered the game, into the TP, and appeared in Ultimate caves wielding my Double Cannon. Instantly I got a bunch of "..." and "dupe..." Now, I'm not disputing the claim that my Double Cannon MAY be a dupe (there's a 99% chance that it is, considering it was given to me by a friend.) but what irked me was the conversation that followed. To the 'dupe...' comments I replied with "Ok. If you don't like seeing the DC, I'll go get my BKB." So I got my Black King Bar, and was instantly accused of having a duped Bar as well! Now, I know my bar isn't duped, I found the MKB, traded for the BB stone, and transformed the thing myself. Then I grinded it, cause I stockpile the things (my most at one point was around +45 in my stash, so +80 isn't a huge deal.) To make a story short, almost all of my items were eyed as dupes (I have a feeling they were looking at my Devil Wing mag as well...)

Now, I ask you, at what point do people consider everything a dupe? It seems that you can't pull out a weapon better than a flowens or a DB saber without being accused of duping. Is my Partisan of Lighting duped too? Maybe my Custom Frame? Maybe the Stink Frame I FOUND?
For some logic people, when will this madness end? Why was I near-verbally harassed because my stuff 'might' have been duped? (Which 4/5's of it wasn't.) Hell, the saber a level 4 HU has 'might' be duped!

I don't really know if this ended ambigous, but if anyone has similar oocurances or any logical response to add, please do.

I only find it annoying when the whole flow of the game I'm in stops because of a duping debate. What's even worse is that these people don't have keyboards, so they come off mentally handicapped when trying to insult each other.

Tried that, they wouldn't listen. I had a good chuckle because of it though. Here's the conversation near verbatim.

Oh well, some people are idiots. I also found it funny that the lev 140+ in the game claimed that she found her Love Heart right before the big dupe flow of the came... I say? "riiight"

The whole duping topic has been blown so far out of proportion it really is having an impact on the whole community of PSO. But it's not the dupers that seem to be the problem, imo. It's the people who are intolerant of the dupers.

I've said this in another topic and I'll repeat it here. I don't dupe/cheat, nor do I plan to. I also don't trade with people who dupe/cheat. It doesn't make me a better person, it's just my playing style. The only thing that bothers me about duping/cheating is when a person won't admit they're doing it. If you respect me and my wishes then I'll respect you and your wishes. A long time ago I used to be in the mentality that dupers/cheaters were all evil. Things change. Eyes, minds and hearts open up. PSO isn't the innocent little game it used to be. It's not a utopia and it never will be. Nowadays it wouldn't even bother me to play with someone who uses dupes/cheats so long as they aren't item/experience hogs. If I find someone who doesn't agree with my playing style I'll ask them to leave or just leave myself. It's not like it's difficult to find games to play. And a player's personality isn't indicated by his/her playing style. I'd much rather give someone the benefit of the doubt than judge them just because they choose to play differently than I do. If you're worried about the PSO economy, find some friends who don't dupe/cheat and you'll solve that problem in a jiffy.

You dont want people to call you a duper? Don't give them a reason to think you are. Simple as that.

Otherwise, don't dupe. If you can't take the heat, don't play with fire.

I'll admit that I accuse some people of duping in online games. But it's not based on weapons. I base it on the level of there character.

I find it odd that 1 out of 4 (maybe even more) people I play with in Hard mode (lvls 20+) have at least one very rare weapon, and some have tons.

I was in a game with a guy named HUNTER_KILLER the other day. He was only level 20 and we were almost up to Olga Flow, so I sent him a pipe, and went back to town to get some Moons. Of course, what do I find when I go back? Him doing a good load of damage with a BKB. I comment on how cool I think his weapon is, and his response is to show me his other great weapons, not to mention his collection of mags, including the Hamburger and Dreamcast. And of course, his messages all LOOKED LIKE THIS.

Yes, this is an extreme case, but even minor ones catch my eye. If you feel the need to use some uber-powerful weapon in NORMAL or HARD modes at such a low level, I most likely will leave the game and find a new one. It's just no fun when someone can kill the strongest non-boss monster with one hit. And yes, I might even openly accuse you of duping. But I won't harass you the entire time we play together about it.

Hell, I can even remember back when my hunter got his Soul Eater. There were players online thinking I was a duper, even though the SE is most likely the easiest and first rare you can get in the whole game.

Duping has hurt the team part of this game, as unless your playing with people you trust your life with, you can never be sure that they arn't cheaters/dupers. And if and until we get an update, there will always be the people that think every rare is a dupe.

EXACTLY, you were level 80, you had a Love Heart, Double Cannon, and a BKB, what the hell was i supposed to think? I mean seriously, those are the three most duped items that i know of. The only reason i said your BKB was a dupe was because you denied the Lavis was a dupe the first time i called you on it, however, once you said that you had other characters at higher levels, i believed you on the BKB, it was Cloak who continued the interrogation.

because your weapons are duped and you should sell them. most people won't want to play with you using your duped weapons. simple as that. even though many of the people that say that contradict themselves because what they use themselves are duped. mind boggaling.

Ya know what? I don't care about dupes what so ever. If I see someone weilding a dupe. I'm like (YAY! now it'll be easier to face the enemies) and if they wanna trade me a dupe? I'm like, no thanks. hehe the more things change the more they stay the same... frankly I dont go give care if your using a dupe go ahead as long as it doesnt have some insane % I could really care less about it its true though most people who complain are because they cant find it, if anything I might say "oh its a dupe" drop the subject and keep killing the nasties of Ragol without a thought of the other person's stuff and maybe even get to know him/her better because in the end its not about rares (though they are nice and the greedy HUcast in side me wants it all) its about the people... heh

I'll admit around the time duping started back in the DC ver I did it especially after I had my legit S-beats blades stolen from me in a game I wanted a back up of all the rares I found after that little incedent -_-; so does that make me a horrible person?

Dupes are happening and you'd be naive to think that it wouldn't at some point. Personally, if I were playing in a game and someone whipped out a well-known dupe, I'd probably roll my eyes and keep playing. Only when those gamers have dupes of weapons that clear rooms in just a few hits, like the S-rank Needles used to back in DCv2, does it bother me. You can think you're hot sh!t with your Double Cannon and whatnot, but make sure you cooperate with the team. There's nothing worse than some lamer running through levels on killing sprees and leaving everyone else in the team behind.

Just trash that Double Cannon and anything else may be a dupe. Goddam: this game is a piece of cake (compared to DC version), what's the point of using overpowered weapons, expecially if you play in a team? u.u;;;
