It is their rank in CMODE. The colors just change to look cool.

RA - Gou : White
GI - Gou : Peach
Bu - Gou : Red
RA - Zan : Gold
Gi - Zan : Green
Bu - Zan : Sky Blue
Ra - Ei : Forget
Gi - Ei : Forget
Bu - Ei : Forget...

RA-zan is more yellow than gold.

Bu-ei is gold. On DC v2 it matched the color of the player's name.

Have all the C-Mode stages been released?

Nope.

But they are offline.

hm...
how exactly is this working?
you get your challenge-name and times via menu and card 5/6-6/6, just like it was/is on dreamcast, dont you? now when do you see your online-challenge name/time and when your offline ones? or are they really mixed? hm...
(this would mean, i could get offlineprizes with an online-bu-ei char by simply doing C1 hm... but then again, i doubt it works like that...)

If you go to status on the start menu screen, it will show you your times and what challenges you have completed off and online. It will also show you your wins and loses from off and online battles.

When online you can only see your challenge title that you received online.

(i'm curious how all this info fits in this small space - gah, wanna play, but gotta have to wait another 2 1/2 months -_-;;;)

each color just represents the challenge stage you are on.

so far asking a native friend, we came to the conclusion that 'ei' could mean 'victory' - but its hard to say definitely because there are several kanji (chinese/japanese characters) that are spelled 'ei'...
for the others... i dont know... yet... i'll ask/look around a bit further...
