Jao Jp Players have 2 world..PC/PS2 are on both..that why they will get 8 toons after merge. instead of 4.

yeah i realy hope they give us 8 character slots when AoI hits america.I mean it realy wouldnt be fair otehrwise, then again given our small community comparatively i spose its more of an investment on segas part to give things back to the JP players. None the less i hope they play it out fair and give us extra slots, though we didnt see a second world so not likely >.> *goes and cries in corner*

we dont have enough players for 2 servers.

also i hope it actually works this time http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif they keep failing the server merge >.>

8 characters is too many.

When they raise the lvl cap to 200, are you really going to spend that much time raising every character to that lvl?

Does anyone have that much time?

yes.

I like how they pretty much did the same thing as beta with a twist. Everything is divided by entrances, so in order to shop in a w2 room as a w1 character, you have to force your way into the w2 room, because shop search only functions within the world that you're in.

Additionally, this applies to PAs and shared box as well. Both are marked by the entrance you took to get on the servers. Want 8 characters? Then get to work on 2 sets of equip, or have great friends who will help you transfer, because your box is only limited to the characters of the same entrance. This also means that your PAs cannot be shared between your characters of different entrances.

soo... even with the merge u still cant do this?

With merge, both worlds can play together. They just can't co-exist in the same economy by normal circumstances. And you can't conveniently share items between characters over 2 worlds. More importantly, you can't raise 8 characters on one set of PAs.

MMO devs VERY RARELY, if ever, expects players to cap. PSU seems to partially be the freak exception, but that's mostly because at the onset it had a fairly low cap which kept getting incrementally boosted.

I find all the mention of "8 is too many/we have enough" to be wildly amusing... I suppose that's because I play City of Heroes, where the issue appears to be the OPPOSITE. The game *encourages* the creation of alts! By default you get 8 character slots per server; buy City of Villains and that number gets increased to 12, and we still have MANY people asking for more!

Coming back to PSU, I feel it is in the devs' interests to give us more slots. On a programming/server management end, it's generally a good idea to minimize differences between versions where possible (barring, in this case, translation issues and submission for approval to integration into Xbox Live) The more differences there are, the more time must be spent coding specific tweaks into future updates to account for those differences, which means updates potentially take longer to push out.

On a semi-related note... ever consider we have too many Universes? Especially for the PC/PS2 side of things. We have so few people playing, one could argue that we could drop about half the Universes and put all that reclaimed space towards more character slots. ^_^ (Well, not that character storage space is an issue anyway... look at the so-called "inactive policy" that we have.) Yes, in MMO-speak, server consolidation is usually interpreted as the game being in HUGE trouble, but... well... PSU kinda *is* floundering over here. :

Should also be noted that there will be 56 universes after this with the recommend types for the planets moving down and the last four being "Recommended for GBR".

It is kinda disappointing that this has been delayed so much and in the end, it comes out the bad setup like what the beta had. So much for using the 2nd enterance for pure synth PMs that I don't want to use for battle. Be quite a hassle to bug friends for moving stuff around all the time.

that really sux we cant transfer PAs. i dunno if i wanna bother raising chars on entrance 2 now -_-

Why not just get a shop, lock it and put everything as 1 meseta to transfer stuff (if it does happen like you people say it will)?

Lyrise

It works but it would be horribly inconvenient. You'd have to take down your shop almost every time you wanted to transfer. Then set it back up again.

Personally, I think this is the best way to handle the merge. Since it always has been touted as a way to allow both worlds to play with each other; not as a way to obtain 4 more slots. Keeping the entrances separate just keeps it cleaner, imagine trying to merge both shared boxes, both card lists, etc. into one database without overwriting each other.

Besides that, you can access the Casino twice in one day, then dropping the item off in your other characters' rooms, whereas if everything had been assimilated into one package, 1 silver per day over 8 characters. Not exactly ideal is it?

In a way, that's really unfortunate that our W1 and w2 characters(not that I have W2 characters YET) can't really share things, which sucks, but I do agree that it would be a lot less of a mess. I'm totally cool with getting two silver a day anyway. Setting up a shop for yourself is a good idea incase your friends aren't around to help you transfer things. My only concern is if they'll actually merge the worlds this update since i'm still kinda skeptical http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Protip: They most likely shared the same database to begin with.

Shoop da whoop!

Edit: Well, okay- even if they didn't. Importing all of that data would be a pain in the ass, but it wouldn't necessitate any of that entrance stupidity.

Koltova Boxes should solve everything. Just have 1 mule character on each world with a room full of them. Transferring shouldn't be that hard. Not that I plan on making serious characters over there, but shouldn't you be able to put PA's in those boxes as well?

That's unless Im not understanding this concept of "forced entry" in crossing over the 2 worlds.

The concept for the most part is right. But for a person like me that'd be terrible, since I like to decorate my room. To have to empty out for mass transfers is very inconvenenient for me since I'm one of the few who actually zero out the 40 points given to you to decorate your room.

But as for the PAs, go ahead and try, you won't even see them on the selection list.

How does that work, by the way? Can you fit one of every major monster decoration in a room and still have room for a full-length De Rol Le? How much room's left over after that? (I'm not counting stuff like the monster plushies, mind.)

All v2 rooms with have a new status called Room Capacity point. Every room gets 40, no exceptions. The larger the item the more points it uses up. Most items take 2 points, and this includes all of the v1 goods. 1 pointers are basically bowls of fruit, small pots, plushies, etc. If it's no bigger than your lamp, it probably takes 1 point. All the large items, like monster decos and large tables will eat up 4 points. Meaning if you want to use the entire De Rolei in your room, you'll be at 24/40 right there. (6 parts * 4 points each). with 16 points left, I imagine you could cram in an Onma, a Ragnus, a Fakis and a Ragan. Or if you really want to cheat the system, replace onma with Onma wallboard and stick in an Alteratsu wall board, 5 bosses right there.

But if it's just monsters you want, you can fit in 5-8 other monsters (some will use 3 points instead of 2).

D: D: D:

You mean I can't fit one of each enemy (including bosses), AND a full De Rol Le?

Lyrise

Of course you couldn't. Common sense would dictate that there isn't enough SPACE in your room to fit them all in.

Remedy
Nov 13, 2007, 02:29 PM
As it stands, you can already fit almost all of them in the 12 spaces you have. There's... 13 as it is, and then only three new ones in AotI (the frog, the giant rappy, and then De Rol Le). =/

Lyrise
Nov 13, 2007, 02:55 PM
I meant space as in points. Space in terms of cells would let me fit in 34 monsters in most v2 rooms (Too bad if I tried that, I would need 136 points.) If all you're aiming for is the most number of monsters you can stick in, I'd just stick with the v1 rooms.

Remedy
Nov 13, 2007, 03:01 PM
Yeah, but the V1 rooms look stupid. =/

I'll play around with the system, I guess. Can't hurt, right?

Yes, see PSO vets that have 3-6 lvl200 characters.
