Hanzo: What was the deal with it?

I'm curious as to what is up with Hanzos that merits the attention in the update schedule for tonight/the next week.

Bonus Damage Using 'Hanzo' With Photon Arts: Now this Seven Star GRM long sword is especially good for Photon Arts.

What was wrong with this weapon orignally? Was it like a Kubara wep and suffered a PA ATP penalty, or what?

And a side, unrelated note: For AoI players: Sega promised to fix the hitbox problem that is rampant in this game. Did they acutally FIX it yet, or are Vanda Damfoies still nailing people when I'm 4561541456256 feet away from it?
