If I highlight it there's a bit of a blank hihglight to the side, I can't imagine what purpose that would serve though.

oh, that's why. With Meira-Bluegray theme, the floor looks like the rest of the floor, so it didn't look transparent at all.

after looking at all the other themes first, I was able to actually bring attention to some samller bluish patches, but they are very faint and not noticable at a skim. Without knowing they were there, I just read it as being color sufferage at downsizing and possible compressions of picture.
