View Full Version : burned out, or can't stand the wait?

i am sorta burned out after 1up cup, i have stopped playing and i don't feel anything towards alliminus.

or

i am in a wierd space because the pre alluminus teaser patch skipped the 360 alltogether, i was really looking forward to it, and i feel as a paying member of the largest PSU population ( 360 ) we were given the shaft.

we have no choice but to sit and wait while PC folk live it up with their 110 lvl caps and lvl 15 job caps.

just attack and just counter....man, this feels horrible.

yeah, i know it's just 4 days, but, i feel like i am bearing a horrible insult.

anyway after this i downloaded some game demos from xbxlive, and am gonna purchace one that caught my eye.

i think i am in denial, or turmoil, not sure.

I know how you feel. Sega probably did it because we got those Demo events. If there's a K-mart near you, see if they have Mass Effect for sale. I've been hearing that it's better than Halo 3.

Do not be alarmed: for even though I play on PC/PS2 I can't log on at all thanks to SEGA having issues with their billing server.

Be thankful that you can play at all, eh. -.-

i play for 1 hour then quit, it is not a good feeling and it is ruining the game for me.

i spend 2/3rds of the day on this game, now i don't know what to do with myself.

Sega isn't the only one having billing issues. I can't even register my damn pre-paid Visa card. And my subscription ends on the 21st! The funny thing is, the temporary card I used before I got my permanent card worked. I feel sorry for the unlucky bastard at Xbox Live Service that's gonna get my call later.

I just hope I'll be able to get the damn thing to register by the 22nd. Or Xbox Live is going to lose a subscriber. Or I'll just get another temporary Visa card.

I'd actually say, 360 players really got the shit as far as not getting this update. No amount of describing the update can attest to how much fun I'm having with all the missions now, and how great PSU really is. It was great before, now it's just... better.

Well, it seems like both sides are getting shafted.

PC/PS2 players are having billing issues, and 360 players dont get the update yet... and both will probably be resolved on Tuesady, lol...

Really? Really?

PSU is a mediocre game at best whose success mainly accounts for a lack of competition in its genre on consoles. Come on, guys, the gameplay isn't exactly engrossing or all that interesting. You have to time your button presses now? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif OMG AMAZING GAMEPLAY!! It's a spamfest of a game with almost zero challenge (NO death penalty or real sense of danger).

The main thing that makes this game fun for me are the people. The gameplay here is so obviously archaic that its community has worked hard to make up for it. Is it fun getting new weapons, clothes, etc...? Of course. However the novelty does wear thin shortly after said things are introduced.

AotI is a much welcomed update to the game, but in actuality, it doesn't add that much. New areas, jobs, items... it is just as good as any other expansion pack for any other game on paper. However PSU's limited gameplay mechanics haven't been tweaked since PSO's conception. Sonic Team needs to mature this series with their next title as some real competition is looming on the horizon. Time to actually work, ST.

As for the 360 being skipped on the patch... ST DEFINITELY has some favoritism/nationalism going on in the PS2's favor. That damn system has been a black mark on TWO console MMORPGs now: FFXI and PSU. Both limited in potential by that aged rotting technology. I can't WAIT until the thing is dead and buried forever.

Classic message board response. Sometimes I feel I read things from what I like to call a "random post generator". People who lack wit chuckling at how witty they are.

Ellys has a valid point. Schubalts is getting overly defensive of a game. Not only that, but PSU.
It's fine that you like the game, but when you take its 'goodness' so seriously and really think it's one of the most amazing things ever (or defend it when someone says it isn't), you're just making yourself look silly. It's like saying Katimari Dynasty is the most deep and enthralling gameplay experience you've ever had. Get a grip, or at least accept others' opinions that disagree with yours, which is quite radical.

Schubalts, I apologize for getting "all up on ya," but I am fighting the flu/mono/strep/whatever crap someone felt the need to give me, so I'm in a bad mood.

I want Sonic Team to start taking the Phantasy Star games seriously instead of ending up like Koei. They have a great atmosphere here to work with and some really neat ideas... they deserve a better game. Little communities like this one often feel the need to defend their game with tooth and nail, however ignoring a game's obvious faults do not move things forward. Recently I stumbled upon the information that PSU took 4+ years to create. 4+ years? Seriously? Either that team is composed of a minuscule amount of employees or ST took a LOT of time off.

Also, ST, please quit ignoring the American market. We pay your bills too http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Lets see if we can't fix that chat bug and annoying interrupt request problem that is oh so obviously YOUR problem and have been in the game since beta on 360. I'd like to see my $10/m do some more good.

I will admit this game isn't exactly unique by any means. But really I play it beceause I enjoy it, that's all it needs to be for some really.

As far as getting ST to take the series seriously, I doubt it. The original team that gave birth to the series by my understanding doesn't even work with Sega anymore. That and Sonic Team doesn't seem to put the kind of effort or staff that you see in 'hit' games really. Really that's there own funeral in the long run more then likely.

Either way I'm just going to enjoy the game for what it is. Really more then anything AOI just improves the flaws the the original had which is more then enough to keep it going for awhile longer. Really better online games in the general view exist, but really I have little enjoyment in those either.

Yeah, I'll have to agree. I only just begun this game and I'm beginning to enjoy it. Its not its simplicity or the graphics (which I must admit is not the best) that drew me in but the people that you meet. With it being online, people have a much enjoyable experience and therefore get to try new and better things. You get helped by so many people or do things at your own pace. So sure, it may not be the best game in the world or the hardest; but hey, if you enjoy it then why would anything else matter? ^_^ (*sniff* although I must admit, xbox live has not been so friendly to me since our can't recover my gamertag lol)

Have to disagree on the favoritism in the ps2's favour. As an EU player i'd rather wait a week for an update than 2+ months for the expansion.

Anyway on topic, i was going to take a break for the month before AoI got released but then the 1up cup came along and that idea went out the window. So yeah taking a break for this week, maybe more, Very burnt out at the moment

Nov 19, 2007, 11:06 AM
Why is everyone complaining about it? They just missed the patch by four days. What the heck are you going to do in four days? I would understand if it was a 2-week update, and 360 would have to wait 2 weeks...but even then.... Its not like they're waiting like a month for the patch. >_>

Those four days doesn't compete with the 360's bigger player base, demo weekends, and a stronger economy.

I think the point was more that the PS2 is "holding PSU back", which it is. The 360 and especially the PC are capable of so much more. Better graphics, more interesting effects, hell, you could probably squeeze some new gameplay elements out of the extra power, and definitely more areas/items/etc, except for the fact that the PC and 360 versions have not been really made superior to the PS2 version at all.

That's kind of like going to war, but not outfitting your tanks with any shells, and ordering the tank driver to just pop out of the top and take potshots with his rifle because the infantry only have rifles.

More on-topic, I'm sorry to hear you feel that way! But, hey, maybe a nice Thanksgiving break will take your mind off of it, and then when you're away for a week, the bug will bite ya...

Personally, I haven't played PSU since Christmas last year. I wasn't coming back, except I hear about AoI, and one of my friends (who was supposed to play PSU with me when it was first released...) is finally getting it. So, for me, it might as well be an entirely new game. I only had one decently leveled character, but I'm probably going to start fresh anyway.

Here's hopin' everyone else can get into it!

I've only had the chance to play a couple times a week in recent months, and haven't had a chance to play at all for three months before that. Plus I'm superbroke and need to get a job outside my father's business. See you guys in AoI in a few weeks :c
