Hm, you'll be able to play PSU with your original disk still. You just won't be able to access the AoI specific content.

Also, chances are you're not going to get the game early... Stores do get fined for breaking release dates.

Download speed is going to suck.
But still ours is $20 cheaper.

Yay for 1600 ms points. why do you think its cheaper? Is it just because its not on a cd?

Crappy download speeds are the reason I'm setting it up to run while I'm at school. Hopefully, it'll be ready to go by the time I get home.

Running as fast as I can, of course.

I don't know about leaving it running while at school.
Fire hazard?

I've left if on for longer periods of time before, and I've got family at home. No worries http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Just concerned, I don't want a news story popping up.
"Teenager burns down house with dangerous gaming system, callbacks announced"
Any time soon.

I have a student who left a 360 on over night (It was a sleepover and he's only 8 years old). He and his friends woke up to loud popping noises and saw that it was exploding... I laughed a long time when he shared this with everyone XD

He was laughing at it, too, by the by <_<

You could just use the auto finish setting for downloads.

It's called Background Downloading or something...When you turn your 360 off, it doesn't really go off, but it finishes any downloads you started and then turns itself all the way off.

System slide of the dash go to console settings then shutdown there is auto-off(6hours no activity and it shuts down) and background downloads (this is turning off your xbox and when the download is done it shuts down.

Awesome, thanks for the info. No popping/exploding/burning Xbox for me!

MrPOW
Nov 18, 2007, 11:33 PM
Yes, just go into the system settings and turn this on, then start your download...then turn the system off. It will basically be in standby mode and still downloading and then power all the way off when it's finished. I'm pretty sure it was implemented specifically so people wouldn't go off leaving their 360s on for long periods of time.

I'm not gone for 6 hours... so whatever...

Heh, psowcam has been on for over a week now. I'm fairly sure there's no real danger keeping your Xbox on. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

EDIT: No. We'll be getting AoI the same time as everyone else, but we still don't know when it's going to be on Live Marketplace.

Well if I recall, my EBGames said it'd be out either tomorrow or Wednesday (PC copy, btw). I'm going to try to call and verify tomorrow. Even then, I'll probably be able to pick it up before work, and install it after my lengthy 8-hour shift.

And here's also hoping my CC comes in this week too, dammit. >_> I needs to renew.

I wouldn't be in any hurry to have it installed and running anyway... this is Sega we're talking about. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I wish you 360 users luck. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the Bioshock demo latency.

Since we're kind of on this topic, does anyone else have a crappy Circuit City in their area?

Mine never gets the games on release date or in the advertised newspaper date, and when they check their systems for it they say "Oh yeah, we have 6 of those in stock... *10 minutes later* ...we just can't find them, it must be a computer error. Sorry (gtfo, customer n00b)!" Their shelves are a total mess, alphabetical order out the door faster than me. Maybe I'm just unlucky...

Normally all stores get new releases over night and stocks the shelves during that time. GameStop and EBgames never have new releases on time, and i know for a fact that they lie bout that stuff just to tick u off.

The Gamestop over here had a midnight opening for Kingdom Hearts 2.

Exceptions for large, popular and well-known games notwithstanding, the announced release date is ALWAYS the shipping date. They'll say available on the 20th everywhere, but that will only be the case in a certain number of stores. It will be fully available to everyone on Wednesday.

Well, anyone remember that topic about K-Mart and other places having this on shelves as early as a week ago? My friend picked up Mass Effect last week at our local K-Mart. Unfortunately, I don't think they carry PC games anymore, but I'm still going to check later today. I didn't bother before now because even if you DO get AoI early, it's not like you could do anything besides play the offline mode. And if this offline mode is anything like the original game's "story" mode...

I'm just hoping our Wal-Mart doesn't hate me again. Last year, they had the PS2 and 360 versions of vanilla PSU ON THE DAY, but never picked up the PC version, so the console copies just laughed at me while I waited for my copy to arrive in the mail...

The 360 download is scheduled to appear tonight at 2AM. However, that's also the hour at which the server will go down for the AotI update, and it won't come back until at least 6AM.
