the telepipe trick

I know the basic idea of the telepipe trick but not the actual procedure. I want to try to get my demolition comet from a red slime, but I want to know what I need to do first. Since I'm an android, I cant freeze slimes, but I do know that if you "slap" them with a weapon (slap as in do minimal damage), they will split. So do I split like 3 slimes from the original 1, then telepipe back to Pioneer 1 and do it all over again? Any precautions I should take? I want to do this right

If my memory serves me well, you can either split them with the third hit of a combo or simply using the special attack of a weapon, where this special attack is ice based.
