Not really a rant.. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Before I play AOI, I need to get ready for it in Extra Mode. What I need to do is:

Absolute Zero (11-13 min per run) = 80 runs for meseta, required for buying S-ranks

Two-headed Sentinel (9-10 min per run) = 15 runs for nanoresin, required to synth. Rabol Hard & Hardline

The Dark Satellite (13-15 min per run) = 50+ runs for the LEGENDARY Dagger of Serafi

From the looks of it, this is quite boring, time consuming, and exhausting. Isn't PSU supposed to be fun??? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Well... I don't have a better alternative. After all, once the saved PSU game file is transferred over to AOI, I will not be able to purchase S-ranks in NPC shops and that sucks..

By the way, it takes about 1-2 hours to have enough of meseta to buy a single S-rank weapon, not mentioning that I need to buy about 10 or so..

Considering that I really don't have the time to spend 50+ hours to collect all the S-ranks and rare items before moving over to AOI. I am actually quitting PSU... However, someday I will play PSU and AOI again. Although I have quitted playing PSU, but I will still be on the forum from time to time. There are tons of other better video games to play and so, there is no point in wasting 50+ hours on something ridiculous like that... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Well, it seems like you've solved your own problem..however, I've got to ask you, is there any reason for you NOT to go online? I'm sorry if I've missed it, whenever it has been posted, but PSU is just so, so much better online compared to offline.

Yes, I do have a list of reasons as to why not joining on the network mode with everyone else:

1) Unable to come up with the right payment methods.
2) Unable to have the ps2 and the pc online at the same time.
3) It is expensive in the long-run. After you join the online community, collecting S-ranks and everything, who would want to quit after having tons of stuff and millions of meseta?? Nobody.. And thus, it is going to be very expensive, no kidding http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

You make valid points, no doubt.. but I'll try to address them, going from my own opinion.

1) Now, this is probably the greater evil here.. not much to do about it until you actually get a card -.-

2) I'm afraid to say that I fail to see the problem here? I suppose that you would be playing on the PS2, but to do so does not require to have the PC online at the same time... right? Earlier this year I lived through that very situation when my PC took a turn for the worse and made PSU nigh unbearable to play thanks to slowdown. Admittingly, it was an annoyance to yank the network wire out of the PS2 and into the PC again when you're done, but hey, if you wanna play the game, that certainly shouldn't stop you.

3) Finally, the never-ending arguing about cost... I've played for about 11 months now (thus payed $110 for subscription) and I will whole-heartedly (sp?) say that it has been worth every single bit of it. The people I've met (and still am!), the progress I've seen my characters make from the beginning and the prospect of future funny-ness give me no regrets to having payed that sum. Of course, I have no idea of your own economical situation, which may prove to be another problem, but as a student still living at home, I find $10 a month to be pretty dispensible.. especially as I know that I would most likely not spend it on anything else more worthwhile anyway.
---

Now, to address the actual extra mode in AoI-

I've been locked out of online mode for little more than a week now, and last Friday I recieved AoI and thus begun playing the story mode... trust me when I say that you do NOT need ANY additional equipment for any character in this mode. I started fresh as a lvl 1 character and mashed through the story in one evening approximately. All the S ranks that were available in the original game is still in AoI, plus more.

Anyway, it is of course your own decision about this, but I'm not lying when I say that I would like to see you online someday. The more the merrier http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Edit: typos -.-

If your idea of having fun is having ALL the high-end items in the game in less than 50 hours... yeah PSU is not for you.

I understand.. However, I still won't be in the network mode for at least before 2009. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif Not sure how long the PSU servers will last though. I will eventually try the network mode, but that isn't anytime soon or rather to say, months and months into the future. Perhaps, I am half-joking.. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif
