View Full Version : AotI: Ambition of the Illuminus quick temp FAQ

Seeing alot of of threads popping up asking the same stuff. Let me try my hand at making a temporary FAQ to help out. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

General Questions
Does Amibition of the Illuminus have a serial key?
Nope! There's no CD-key you have to worry about losing it, so rest easy... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

What's with the different colored names?
White named players are playing the original PSU.
Yellow named players are playing Ambition of the Illuminus.
New Features
What's with the new lobby teleport system?
Instead of having to be in a party to get to a lobby, you can actually go there for a price.

If you've visited the lobby after Nov 16th (PC/PS2) or Nov 20th (Xbox360), you'll be able to warp to it from the main area by selecting "standard flight" from the teleport NPC. However, there is a fee, ranging from 200 to 800 meseta, depending on how far in that lobby is.

The "special flight" option is the same as before. Any lobby there's a party member in, you can get to for free.

How do I store my Photon Arts back into a disc? Can I trade/sell them?
In order to store a PA to disc form, you need to select it from your PA menu (main menu > player > Photon Arts). Just select the PA and it will ask you if you want to return it to disc form. A simple yes and you now have a portable version of your PA.

However, you cannot sell or trade your PAs after you have returned them to disc form. Like the Ultimate PAs and PA frags, they are linked to your account. You can put them in your shared storage box for alts, but you cannot give them to other players.

Where can I go to change my luck?
That's not in available in the US yet.

Okay, just what is available?
There's a nice list right here listing all the lil features that aren't out yet:
http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=160766&forum=20&33

If it's not on that list, there's a chance that it's out there somewhere. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Can I level my online character offline like in the old PSO?
Nope. This wasn't added by AotI. Online and offline are still completely separate worlds.

Where's the new voices in online mode? Will my character actually talk?
This feature is kinda-sorta half-released. The PS2 and XBox players have actual dialog from their characters while PC players do not. Whether this is by accident or design, no one's really sure yet. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
Voloyal Casino Questions
Where is the Casino?
The Casino is on Moatoob. Unless you can get a ride there from a helpful player, it's a long walk. Here's the mission map for you from Dagora City:
1.) Valley of Carnage - takes you to Galenigare Mine
2.) Mine Defense - takes you to the Underground Lake
3.) Tunnel Recapture - takes you the Ice Plains
4.) Caves of Ice - takes you to the Ice Caves
5.) Awoken Serpent - takes you to Voloyal Area

I'm here, how do I play?
Walk to the back of the casino to the desk with the pile of coins behind it. Talk to the clerk and she'll give you your daily coin allowance of 1 silver coin.

BUT! Don't be too eager to get playing. This is a mistake I made and I wish someone had told me:
1 Silver Coin = 100 Bronze coins
1 Gold Coin = 100 Silver Coins = 10,000 Bronze coins

So don't think the silver coin slots are the only one you can visit. You can visit the others. >.>;

When can I collect my daily coin allowance at the casino?
The "day" cycles at the following time:
7pm eastern time
6pm central time
5pm mountain time
4pm pacific time

How do I win more coins? What's the trick?
Be lucky and play smart. There's no real trick or "glitch" to winning. Slots are totally random, and roulette is just a matter of betting smart and being lucky.

Alot of players can offer you their own personal advice on how to win in the casino. Some strategies work, others don't. It's all a matter of (real life) luck in the end. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Can I buy/trade coins?
No. There's no mechanism for buying coins with meseta. You also cannot trade coins with other players. They're linked to your account. You can store them at the coin desk in the back of the casino for your other characters to get to.

Can I trade/sell the prizes?
No. Like the coins, they are linked to your account.

My Room Questions
Where can I go to move my room?
The functionality to move your room is not yet available for the US servers.

Where can I expand my store size?
That's not available yet either. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

How do I access the new room features like the bulliten board, different music, and the talking store PM?
You need to buy a remodeling ticket that's an AotI type. You can tell by looking for a yellow "!" in a circle by the remodeling ticket in the store. Use that ticket and you'll have the new decoration system, PM shop abilities, message board, music, and all that fun stuff at your disposal.

But be careful! Once you convert your room to AotI style, normal PSU players wont be able to visit you anymore.

Also, if you're a player who's still playing PSU, you'll get an error message saying "You cannot enter this room at this time" if you try to enter an AotI player's room. Sorry. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

How do I change my room's music?
You need to find the music discs with the music you want. You can see the list of all the (known) discs in the pso-world ItemDB Music Discs Category:
http://www.pso-world.com/items/psu/17/music_discs/

New Items Questions
What's the best PM to synth the new items, like Madoogs/TECH-Mags, Shadoogs/R-Mags, and slicers?
Madoogs/TECH-Mags are best synthed on a pure TECH PM
Shadoogs/R-Mags are best synthed on a pure range PM
Slicers are best synthed on a pure melee PM

Where can I get a cowboy hat?
You have to pick one of the newer hairstyles in order to use it.

I hope people aren't too lazy to read through the whole thing to find their answer. That seems to be the major reason that new threads about old questions get started; some people are too lazy to read.

This feature is kinda-sorta half-released. The PS2 and XBox players have actual dialog from their characters while PC players do not. Whether this is by accident or design, no one's really sure yet.

How exactly do you get your character to say actual dialog? I haven't heard a peep from mine.

Mine just making the usual grunting noises. Is there any specific voice that does that?

Burninglink5: If you're on PC, it's bugged so you can't. Please re-read what the FAQ said. These new voices are AoI only also, if you're playing PSUv1 you won't have it, period.

No, I am on the 360 version, and yes I am playing AotI. My character only does the usual grunts instead of talking. Is the dialog only with certain voice types?

You'd have to ask someone on PS2 or 360, I run PC so I haven't gotten the new voices yet. Hopefully they'll fix that this Friday.

What about compatability with old PSU? Cause, I'm a PS2 PSU user without AoI and I sure am ticked off at being unable to enter 90% of player shops now.
