I think that the subject is pretty much self explanatory. Well, what do you think? Please show us here (and if possible why). As for me, I'll give my answer later in order to keep the topic neutral.

PSO's. PSU's music isn't at all good.

If I had to choose, I'd say V1's entrance theme was better. At least it was musical. AoI's entrance doesn't move at all, and the best part of it was in PSU's theme anyway. Heck, after buying the two disks from the casino (I've made it a goal to collect all the music disks), I couldn't stand hearing AoI's entrance after a while.

LOL, that's funny. I was thinking of adding a PSO music option, but opted against it. Probably should have added it now. Anyhow, I personally like the AOI opening, then the PSU v1 opening. I like the upbeat tempo of the remix and the song was overall nice in PSU v1. I also like the ending songs from episode 1 too. The PSO songs were good to me too, but I like the PSU openings better for the sheer fact that I knew what they were saying the first few times. I had to look up the words for PSO epsiode 1 http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Actually, I liked the first PSU ending theme of Ep.1. I can't at all remember what it was, but I remember liking it.
Do they use it again in AoI?

It's called "With You."
The other is "Brighter Day."

"With you," huh? I should look in to that. I don't even remember what it sounded like, but I remember being sad when the second one, "Brighter Day" apparently, started playing instead.

I don't know how, but they've managed to make it worse than the music in Sonic and the Secret Rings.

...well, the original PSU theme wasn't that good either, but it was acceptable! At least that sounded like music and not some lame ass attempt at sounding cool.

agreed on liking "With you". Luckily for me, I went through hell and back to import the CD over here. I'm not sure if it was worth all the effort, but those two ending songs alone was worth it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Original, the remix sounds like it was done by a band consisting of 14 year old metallica fans.

Original version is lightyears better.

But I can understand why American kids would like the AoI one better.

God, both songs are embarassing. As embarassing as the Superman Dat Hoe song. God.
You call this music? Eush

I liked the original version. In story mode where they slapped it and a "previously on phantasy star universe"-esque thing on each story mission, it felt kinda like an anime, and it's intro music actually seemed just like an anime opening. The new one.. It doesn't really feel like anything. It sorta feels like those youtube videos where people just slap on a song to a tv show without even thinking if it matches or not. o.o Even if the original song was cheesy, it fit, so I always watched it. The AoI one, I watched it once, said "ugh", and haven't been able to sit through the full thing again.. ._.

The original sucks, since it had shitty lyrics. When you remix suck, it just turns into remixed suck. There are exceptions to this of course, but this is not one of them.

The original ORCHESTRATED OP, however, is awesome.

I love the remix, fits the overall theme of AoI very well.

Go Sega for making the attempt to appeal to American gamers with a more American style of music. Then again I haven't found a country that has music I don't like, it's all very beautiful and diverse.

I like the new opening, there were a lot of points in the original where the vocals sounded a bit off to me, but mostly I like the guitar. ;o

The remix version is more so up my alley than the original version. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif It's was a little weird to me at first, but it's grown on me. My friend has it in his room, and it's a perfect fit there.

Both are horribly embarassing. Had it not been for that I already knew what PSU was when I first started it up I would of shut it down right at the intro, never to play again. Same can be said about AotI. Perhaps the new version is..slightly more acceptable, or slightly less unacceptable. Slightly.

The only way the themesong can get any worse is if it is remixed as a rap song. Hell, at this point, even funk or disco would be an improvement. Then again, Sega seems to do disco rather well...

Not a rock fan, the new theme gets two thumbs down. At least there isn't any hardcore emo screaming. The original theme was okay.

The new one is listenable to me, as rock is one of my favorite genres. I STILL prefer the orchestrated OP, however.

Rock is by far my favorite music genre, though just saying "rock" is vague as all hell.

And I know this is all subjective and opinion and such, every time that remixed crap is called rock, I die inside and envision the God of Rock shedding tears of blood (not its own blood mind you---that god's too tough to cry from mere embarrassment---it's actually the blood of American Idols, failed and otherwise. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif). It's an embarrassment to rock. I pine for the old days when Sega knew how to rock. Remember Comix Zone's mellow rock? Phantasy Star IV's OP was pretty rockin' and um...it wasn't rock, was it? Hell, Sword of Vermillion had better rock tunes than this!

Want some good rock in a game? Try any Guitar Hero soundtrack, tune in to V-ROCK in GTA, check out Karma (by Bump of chicken) in Tales of the Abyss...hell, even Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman has a better rockin' opening theme. Guilty Gear's got better thrashin', Thunder Force IV is about as close to rock as any game on the Genesis could ever get; shit, just play a Dynasty Warriors game for some better rock.

Rock on. We're a dying breed. Sad, isn't it?

I dunno, I don't see why there's so much hate on either of these openings, other than the fact that it's cool to hate them. Sure, they aren't the best songs I've ever heard in my life, but I've gotten both stuck in my head at some point. The original is cheesy, but I think that's actually the point. And the remix? Come on, there's some pretty legitimate guitar in there, though I agree that the song would be far, far better without the vocals.

Overall, I think I prefer the remix. Though if PSO were an option, I'd pick that. WHERE'S MY DE ROL LE THEME SEGA?!
