I guess there are more than one reason why I had quitted playing PSU. Regardless of the AOI upgrades, it is still lacking something..

Not sure how many of you here will agree, but PSU does lack the "pause" function. It sucks when you are doing a 30-35 minute free mission, yet unable to save game or pause midway into the battle.

Most rpg games have the "pause" function which is amazing, especially when people decide to doze off midway into the game. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Unfortunately, PSU doesn't have the function...

That's because its meant to be an online game. They've never implemented a pause for offline, even as far back as PSO v.1

What fun is pausing when you can idle! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif

wait an online game with other people that you can't pause? OMG

so how would that work? you're in a mission with 5 people, hey guys, I g2g to the store real quick, I'll pause it and make you all wait!

see in other free roaming RPGs, monsters keep spawning other places, so you basically have to be in a town if you want to go AFK. At least in this, you can idle in a lot more places, even in some safe spots where there are enemies!

pausing isn't a concern. However, the complete lack of photon nunchucks irks me quite a bit

I know this is a stupid reason, but...

It is true that idle is fine, but.. If I forget to save a game before playing a free mission and the next thing is that I doze off midway in the battle. It will result as a gameover with a possible few hours of gameplay lost.. Unlike the network mode, its not like I can get the NPCs to revive me. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

On the contrary, in network mode, pausing the game is ridiculous as it is. MMORPG should not have the pause function, because it affects the overall gameplay itself.

And about PSO.. The only reasons why I quitted PSO is the level-up system and this reason. I once woke up to play the game around noon and after 30 minutes, I dozed off... I woke up several hours later and it was game over. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif Unlike PSU, in PSO.. You cannot save a game, unless you quit and return to the main menu. That sucked..

The first time I played PSO (I was playing offline) I tried to find the pause button but couldn't find one. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif By the time PSU came out I didn't even bother looking for a pause button offline.

It doesn't really matter though. If you need to pause, just clear a room and idle there. It's not the like enemies respawn or anything...

I remember in Warcraft 2 you could pause LAN (I think net also) games.

The guys after class really didn't like that. *cough*

After PSO, I've grown used to this, though PSO had Ryuker to fall back on, but PSU doesn't like to set up ambushes like PSO did so clearing a room and chilling is simple enough, usually running to the previous room or hallway works too.

Pause button aside... PSU lacks... well... hmmm hard to explain... like uhh PSO has quests and story missions... sure PSU has story missions online but its not with other people but by yourself... PSU is like... go to this stage here and spam to level god knows what until your tired... i mean sure grinding 1 stage cause of its looks and exp and the only thing thats driving you to play for countless hours on the same stage is basically for the exp and nothing else making you have a feel of accomplishment after attaining level X. hmmm thats still not what im thinking about... what is it.. grrr its something PSU lacks besides its looks and countless hours of zombie grinding levels. Gameplay is...ok i guess its no Devil May Cry or Kingdom Hearts but its got some action going on. Graphics is.. good PSU looks good... Customization is.. very good you get to make your own cool looking character... Stages and Enemies... well fighting the same things over and over and over and .... you get the point can be very boring to most people... hmm danhit what exactly is it that PSU lacks?! Its lacking something big! .. players? no its not that... hmmm grrrr arrggggg my poor little head.. AH! now i get it... took me long enough to figure it out... its...

Exploration - Psu lacks this! i mean so we go to a bunch of different stages were its pretty much instanced but hell those stages are small i say small! i want a place where you would spend a few hours exploring here and there... but nah forget it i doubt people would want that since Psu is probably fine without it...

Minigames- besides the casino we need other stuff like a shooting range! Where you could shoot down a bunch of stuff first person and get points for it then exchange those points with items or something. Heck how about some racing on that boat thing? it would be for fun racing against other people and all. A tournament where you go head to head in various mini games like hunt "X" monsters as many as possible before time runs out. PVP perhaps? but forget it... people complain too much about it that it makes me sick when people dont like new things.

Quests and missions - i mean not some spam till your f'in tired of doing that stage like a bunch of quests and missions that actually let you do something aside from kill...kill...kill..kill... how about search for "insert person here" and bring him to the "insert room or exit here"... or like capture the enemy flag and defend it against enemy troops till times up and if the flag gets taken you would have to take it again and wait for "inster time left here" to end mission, or a mission where you defend your base against a horde of enemies till theres no more left... but no matter how much we pray we could never get these things...though im not playing PSU anymore it feels like if i came back i would face the same thing all over again... same mission till i die...i think i should wait till the next expansion comes out before i come back...a few more years perhaps? yeah i guess by that time ill probably have finished all the story missions in FFXI then quitting that game for good therefore coming back to PSU but i guess it really depends on me...

Population - hmm more people would be good... actually very good but i dont wanna buy an Xbox360 for that though...

Challenge Mode- heck PSU lacks challenge.. oh wait soloing S rank missions at the lowest level is a challenge? yeah sure i guess, but the fact is there are soooo many hardcore players out there that probably deserve something with more challenge other than spamming this mission and that mission. "How about giving them a challenge mode?" "what?" yeah you heard me a challenge mode. Something similar to Bruces Dungeon cept somethin a little more extreme but fun in its own way. Qe need something players would want to try over and over again because of the fact that they just cant beat the dang thing! Even with high edge weapons and max level it would take true teamwork or perseverance or whatever a challenge mode is supposed to be like to beat it and the rewards would be great! Im hoping that there would actually be something like that in the future.

Rewards? - The heck?! im tired of spamming the same mission just for the meseta and the mission points! What i want is getting some item on some super ultra hard mission that would take hours to finish even with a full pt of max levels and 50% or whatever elemental weapons as a reward for doing that hard work! what item? well an item worth our effort! Like getting random clothes for your character and also having the chance to get rare clothes from that mission that no one else has, plus it gives +"insert number here" to "insert stat here" as a reward but would take a few runs to get it! Yeah now that would be nice..a hard mission that normal players would be like chicken breasts running around but if those chicken breasts make it to the last area they get good rewards... ahh its sad that my imagination wont come true...

Lastly!...... i ran out of things to say... this is the rants section right? i would make my own topic but since theres a topic here already i might as well.

If you are falling asleep in PSU try turning down the music. I swear to god it worked for me. Well, mostly.
