This is a question I asked Sega quite some time ago....

11/24/2007 12:54 AM
Is Sega of America working on a patch to impliment the Voice acting for the created characters online on the PC version? Right now it's currently bugged that only the PS2 can hear the new voices.

and here's the response

Yes we are working on fixing this and a few other sound issues for the PC version of Illuminus. Sorry for the late response.

Uhh... wow, they are actually working on it?

It probably took them so long to decide whether to fix it or not, and held the email until they can promise a better sounding answer.

Or, they are really under staffed that one person had to read 50k emails.

Does your PC freeze for a second or two when the music stutters? Cuz mine does =/

Turn down your sound acceleration?

http://boards2.sega.com/psu_board/viewtopic.php?t=5395

Certain sound effects do not play in the game or character creation menu.

If certain sound effects, “such as character voices or weapon sounds”, do not work while in game, then you may wish to lower the sound acceleration on your system. It’s a fairly simple process and you can raise it back up at any time. In order to lower the sound acceleration on your PC, please follow the steps written below.

1. Click on the Start Menu.
2. Click on Run
3. In the text box, type “dxdiag” without the quotation marks.
4. When the Direct X Diagnostic Tool pops up, click on the sound tab.
5. There should be a slider listed for “Hardware Sound Acceleration Level”, slide it down to “Basic Acceleration”
6. Close the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and start the game.

That fixed my grove of fanatics sound/music problem.

Glad to hear they are working on it. Hopefully they'll be done before Spring.

Really I don't imagine is a difficult bug to fix, the general thing which I can tell is that for some reason AOI is having issue syncing with the right sound files and/or samples. It's still using the V1 sound cues for some reason, which would explain why we can still hear Laia since she didn't have a sound file for V1 and why PS2 has the proper voices because the disk is was already programmed with the proper files without the V1 files being present.
