I'm curious about the sales of PSU. As in, how many games have been sold and how many people are registered for online play. For non-japanese servers, btw.

This would be interesting.

The 360 sales are going to be low, PS2 and PC be embarrassing, and AotI on PC/PS2 almost non-existant. The only thing keeping this game floating is the monthly fee. If I had a million dollars I'd offer to buy everybody a subscription for three months, but I'd probably rather use it as bribe money for Sega to freaking make Yu Suzuki finish Ryo's adventure.

Lets put it this way: AotI just came out a week or two ago, right? I looked for it in Circuit City last night, and in Best Buy. Not only did neither store have it, neither store had even heard of it. =/

Definitely a niche title. Not that that's a bad thing. So long as there's enough subscribers, it should keep going.

But I'm pretty sure the sales are very low, at least compared to the 'big' games out there.

The sales were so low for the ps2 version they didn't even reach the top 50. Can't really find pc game sales charts but I bet it was low too due to piracy.

It's a shame but sales are pretty much low to none. Just a little more advertising would help out. That and if some of the major websites actually gave the game a decent rating. I don't think that IGN even rated the sequel. They gave the original a 6. something and the sequel is much better. So it should get a better rating. That might have helped sales a little.

And vanilla was rated low by the major sites for lacking content. Go figure.

It dont think to many people even know what psu is, but I kind of like it like that,
I mean do you people really want psu to be another everquest or WoW?

It's a shame how low-rated this game is. Most places didn't even bother with online content, just the story mode. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Well, the story mode for both games does severly blow... Although it seems a lot better with Ep 3 so far (my eyes didn't bleed from the script! Yay!). But... i'm surprised Vanilla got that high a rating. It deserved a 5. >.> It really did suck, i just played cuz i knew that more would eventually come out, and voila, we have AotI.

And a *little*? You mean put in ANY advertising, and it would help TREMENDOUSLY. Stupid freakin SoA, they're a joke of a company...

It still baffles me how people seem to think PSU is better than PSO in every way, when this happens. No store in my town had or heard of AoI. They thought I was looking for the FFXI expansion when I asked.

The problem I seem to run in to at video game stores when I mentioned it, including best buy when the guy tried looking it up for me was "Oh I played the one on GameCube and it was better than PSU." Every place I went to at least one person told me that.

Just because a game sells more doesn't make it awesome. *coughinsertMaddangamecough*. It's due to a lack of intehnet hype, and what sites like Gamesplot advertise.

No, i'm just curious as to what the actual sales numbers are.

PSO didn't stick you with JUST Forest 1 and Forest 2 for the first three months. PSO was for many people at the time the only game in town. PSO also had a lot of advertising I'm sure...I remember seeing a lot of hype about it back in its day!

As for why PSU is better...well, it simply plays better. No matter how sloppy or bland it looks compared to PSO, it has the definite advantages of a better core gameplay with *GASP* MANUAL AIMING AND CAMERA CONTROL! Shit, the lack of those by itself is reason enough for me to condemn PSO.

Actually AotI sales are hard to find for xbox 360 because *gasp* you download it from the online market only! I also heard they got a LOT of people on their servers after AotI was avaliable. As for PC/PS2, well, PC I wouldn't know, and that would be low obviously due to the whole asdfltorrentweql deal, but I mean in actual sales, not people with the game on their pc http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif. And Ps2, they're low, but then again so are a lot of games that people say are great (contra 4, Raving Rabbits 2, Rock Band etc.), which to me sucks because all these games (AotI included) are great, yet most people would rather get nintendogs http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif Oh well...As for the community, yeah its gotten bigger. Also, I dont know if most of the players out in Europe have torrented the game or not yet, so who knows, it could get bigger later!

Hm, good point MrNomad. Well, does anyone know where there's a number of subscribers (both ps2/pc and 360)?

I dont know really. I'm sure you know a translucent star on a server can be 1-199 people, and a full star is 200+ http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I should point out though, just because you go online to a server and see a uni with a bunch of stars on it, it doesn't necessarily mean the same people are on as the day before. People have times when they can play the game and not after all http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Yeah, but then again PSU gets its sales out of people's supscriptions, which by now is practically higher than most game sales right now http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

In Japan.

OH WAIT. Nevermind. That's right. The 360 is now carrying english-PSU on it's shoulders.
