I've only seen a few eps, it doesn't seem to have a story to speak of.

It's about the lives surrounding these girls. It's really just an amusing watch, I didn't find it funny or amazing but enjoyable.

Edit: It's popular due to the same people who did Haruchi are doing Lucky Star (personally give it an eps or two and have a feel for it. I didn't really get into it myself but kept my interest enough to watch it all)

It's fucking horrible. I watched the first episode because people told me I shouldn't insult it if I hadn't seen it. It's 'HEY, LET'S SIT AROUND AND TALK ABOUT FOOD!'

It's not comedic, there's no action, no drama, no NOTHING. Just a bunch of little girls sitting around talking and whining. I go into a nerd rage whenever I see this shit, because I know somewhere out there someone is typing in something about how TOTALLY KAWAII RUCKY STAR IS and the mere thought of it puts me on the brink of having an aneurysm.

The humor isn't my kind, and isn't really my genre in general (I'm more the mecha/sci-fi kind of guy, but my friend is a big on these kinds of animes so I give em a go if they're good).

Personally, I find the most enjoyment out of it by seeing similar RL similarities with my nerdy friends XD

Lucky Star should have episode 2 or 3 be the first episode because those where vastly more interesting and funnier than ep 1. Ep 1 is NOT a good example of the rest of the series.

It's an ok series, good for when you need a break from all the repeatative over-the-top action anime and just want to see a humorous satire of Shojo school girls and a bit of satire on otaku culture in Japan.

Yeah, the first episode sucked, I got bored and stopped watching about halfway through, I only saw a few eps, though, as there were other shows I was more interested in. ;o

I like it for the art, it's a really cute style. Just don't go into it expecting a plot, or humor to the degree of Azumanga. It's very enjoyable, but it's not for everyone (protip: no anime is for everyone).
