Sure you got AOI for half the price of the PS2 version, but wasn't the whole point of extra mode to have a built up char option for aoi story mode(offline) and w/o it your extra mode char is a devalued effort,You would think that with the XBOX360 touting itself as the current greatest game system game out now that it wouldn't cut corners buy giving it's PSU fans half a game,Sony takes a lot of crap about many things in the gaming world but in this case they gave it's costumers the full PSU AOI game and at 40 buck it's a stand alone game even without the 1st PSU but with XBOX360 the AOI download is worthless w/o the PSU game disc,For all it's talk of being the only game system you'll currently need, that seemed a bit untrue,o and the fact that there players can ONLY play only on MS servers and not with any other system it puts in a far smaller world.

BTW/One more thing the PSU demo is a good idea but without any control over how long people can use it it means their no reason to buy the real game when the beta demo is free for as long as you want to keep playing it.As for chars getting deleted each month so what, you can just start over and you can see how far you can level your char before they get deleted. There would be far more paying players if the demo was more controled and players could only accsess the demo for a certian amount of time, before being lockout and having to get the full game to continue playing PSU.

PLUS;I know playing online is a great way to experince the PSU world and playing with and making new friends is nice but there are good aspects to offline as well,it's good for those who can't get online and it's a good way to enjoy many of the game different things at a more solo players pace.

So what do any of you other XBOX360 players have to say about these topics?

If you play online on the 360, the only thing you are missing out on is non-FMV voice acting and episode 2 FMVs. We have episode 3 FMVs though.

There is plenty of reasons not to play the demo and move to the full game. You can only reach a maximum level of 40. You cannot open a shop or redecorate your room. You can only access 2 missions on every planet except for parum which has only 3 missions. You cannot visit moatoob. You can only be hunter, ranger, or force. You can only get C and B rank equipment. The Demo hasn't been updated since the full game released and thus has all the glitches, imbalanced stats, and bad monster AI from early release.

AotI on PS2 is only a standalone game to justify making you pay that much, and because PS2 version didn't utilize the HDD. That's it. If they could have made it an add-on instead, they would have. It's not like they did it the way they did to make you happy.

As for the demo... Sure, if you wanna deal with the sparse selection of missions, no story missions and only 2 planets, go right ahead and keep playing it. If that's all you want out of it, you probably wouldn't pay the subscription fee anyway. 360 is missing out on any players because of the demo, trust me.

IMO, extra mode is pointless, honestly. I could be using that time to build my online character. I agree a bit about MS servers not crossing into PS2/PC servers being kinda bunk, but... a smaller world? Sure, but there's still more 360 players on average.

Anyhow, it's yer opinion, and you'll stick by it.

I say that I'm tired of looking at them.

I find that the main draw to the new offline mode is the unreleased content, like a couple areas, and a boss, the PSO clothes and a few 13 star weapons and some PA's.

Also, voice acting doesn't yet work on offline mode for the PC version for some weird reason, I'm sure they're working on a patch for it, but I'm still throwing it out there.

In a nutshell, if you've already played episode 2 online, your not missing out on much.

Also, the demo sucks total balls, get the full version if you can pay the subscription fee.

I have the ps2 version but i have recently gotten a 360 and i'm wondering if is worth having the PSU(AOI)w/o a offline story option.I do play online but i also enjoy playing around with the offline story mode when i want to test out char options and new weapons and PA's etc.

As I said, all the content on the AoI offline mode will be released soon enough, so it's not like it's never coming.

Also, if you already have a character online for the PS2 version though, what's stopping you from getting AoI for PS2?

I have had AOI for PS2 since the day it came out and haven't spent more then a hour online since then,The offline mode is just so much more fun to play around with and best of all i can find and use newer stuff while the online crowd keeps making threads here on PSO world about whens this or that going to be released online,So for as much as offline is called pointless and useless it seems the online crowd just have to wait for things that some of us can do offline sooner.

1/2 price for 1/2 a game? seems fair.
Why even play extra mode when you could play online? the only use for extra mode I see in the future is when the servers shut down perminately.
online > offline because of human interaction.
[list:c4d96c74ec] for the record, FFXI is playable across all 3 platforms
360 has about 3-5 times the population of PC PS2 + 360 was seperated for intrigration of LIVE features, like voice chat![/list:o:c4d96c74ec]

an offline 360 is like a swiss army knife that is only used to open wine bottles.

there are only a handful of people who bought 360 PSU knowing that they will not play online. why should ST delay the game fearther for somthing that somewhere around 100 people will take full adventage of?

OK,So after you download the AOI upgrade and add it to the 1st PSU game just what do you end up with in the mode option screen?

STORY MODE?
EXTRA MODE?
NETWORK MODE?

Could have sworn that I replied to this thread already... but okay. Anyway, we have a significant population size over the PS2/PC server (4 stars compared to 31 two Saturdays ago), a much more controlled economy, and Episode 2 is available online anyway, so it's not like you're missing out by paying $20 less. If it really means that much to you, the client upgrade was applied to PSU offline as well. There weren't any new items added, but the Just Attack system works as well as increased EXP, mission points, and meseta. But online is where it's at. You can easily solo online and enjoy the benefit of playing Episode 3, which started off GREAT.

1.) load game like normal.
2.) after loading game data you are given a prompt to load AotI.
hit "yes" to load AotI and play online
hit "no" to play story mode and extra mode (If you hit xbox live you are told you cannot play this version anymore)
