GC: What is progressive scan compatible?

i just want to know what the hell this thing is. I saw it on the back of the case. So, if anybody knows please reply to my n00b question.

progressive scan if for HDTV or HD ready TV's. Its basically higher resolution. You'll need new cables as well to take advantage of it.

You'll need some $50 cables and a $700+ TV to take advantage of it. I hear it looks amazing though.
