Thank you. I was looking high and low for this trailer. I think this thread would be more appreciated in off-topic, though.

I'm looking forward to a darker, more maniacal and serious take on the Joker. Michael Kane (Alfred) stated that Heath Ledger's performance was so startling, he actually forgot all of his lines. Seeing as how Kane is a seasoned actor, that's pretty impressive. I'm glad they're staying away from the 60s and cartoon camp.

Just watching the trailer u can tell that the Joker has taken a more madman approach.

They're keeping alot of the story under wraps, but I think I'll be like Batman Begins: an original story, but borrowing bits and piece from well known Batman stories.

I think they're smart to keep it under wraps, too. A lot of Batman fans consider the Tim Burton movie to be comic gospel even though it wasn't (noobz..). A couple friends of mine are upset because we already know Joker won't be the murderer of Christian Bale Batman's parents. Even though The Joker didn't kill Batman's parents in the comics... it just worked for that particular film. Made a decent 2 hour story (imho).

But, I think a fresh take on things that keeps even fans of the comics guessing will be a positive thing. As long as they atleast acknowledge those loyal fans throughout the movie by not straying too far from the classic characters.

The best part about the Joker is that he ISN'T serious. He's doing all this shit because he thinks it's funny, and he wants to share his humor with the rest of the world. Another great aspects about him, is that Joker doesn't have a true origin story. He once said "If I had to pick an origin, I'd say MULTIPLE CHOICE!"

I have a feeling Ledger will pull it off, at least in character if not in looks. I'm just hoping that the movie doesn't screw up his story.

Yeah, the character itself definitely isn't serious.. but he should be perceived seriously is what i mean. A good Joker should be frightening. Bob Kane's intentions from the get-go (back in the 40s) was to create a somewhat disturbing and twisted character. This new movie seems to be drawing more on that aspect of the character.
