Yeah, I've got that thread title stuck on my brain.

Okay, with the REAL ending to our 1-UP Cup bonuses this Thursday, I wanted to hurry up and get a handle on something I've been meaning to do for a while--use AotI's Offline Mode to plan ahead for possible changes in my appearance, since it has access to the RAcas parts set and we don't yet have them. After two days of playing AotI offline and getting what I needed, I came up with a dozen or so variants.

There's way way WAY too many variations I came up with to make a poll over, but in all, my fashion quest revolves around getting myself to resemble my PSO self as much as I can. I'm not yet decided on a mixture of parts to use. I've found that I can't just up and use the RAcas set wholesale, because doing so makes me comically bulky and fat. That's probably because when I started PSU, I was trying to calibrate my proportions based on the starting parts available to us; if I had made myself skinnier I might've been able to get the look I wanted with the RAcas set, but unfortunately we weren't given the option of changing our body's shape and I'm not keen on the idea of restarting just for this.

Besides, many CASTs will likely wear the RAcas set when it comes out, so it might be good for originality's sake if I use a mix. I might even just forgo the idea of a change in appearance entirely, but first, I'd like to hear everyone's opinion.

This is what I currently look like. Deja's "cannonface" head is the closest thing to the bird-beaked head I had in PSO, but ... I didn't feel like having a cannon for a face, so I tried for a passing resemblance instead.

I've divided the possible variations into three categories, by color. Lemme know which ones you think look best--either as an approximation of the my PSO incarnation, or as a improvement on my current appearance.

I'm very much open to suggestions and modifications, especially for the head. You'll note in screenshots I flipped back and forth between several variations on my head. If you think there's a better mix of parts/colors/helmet/face that could work out, or if you've got a suggestion for a specific one, let me know that too!

I actually like your current PSU look more than the one in PSO, and either way, here are my 3 choices, which are sort of around the same thing anyway.

I don't know Gattie, this is kind of hard. You said you kind of wanted to resemble your PSO character right? Why not at least have the body of the RAcast set, and the Boktas legs, and then one of the gigantic new arms we got? The colors would be up to you.

My opinion, a lot of the variants look like crap lol

The main problem I think is the fact that the racast parts are a bit too bulky, the most likely candidate for usage would be the legs only compared to the other peices. When you put the body with PSU arms the arms are a bit too small in comparison to the body. Hmmm indeed.

I also used that same head back in the day. Sadly nothing resembles it that looks good in PSU.

In some ways, using the metallic human face is cool, but in other ways it's not. It can't emote, and thus I'm not sure I should use it. However, using my current face with the black variants turnes my entire face black, and I don't want that. Yet, the way Boktos arms look on the black variants is very reminiscent of my original paint job in PSO. Hmm.

Yeah ... to be honest, I do like the parts mix I currently use. I just wish I could get a paint job on it similar to what I had in PSO; I liked the black shoulders with white and yellow stripes, especially.

And I agree--rerolling just for this wouldn't be worth it. Especially since I completed my armor PM with the 1-UP Cup bonuses. There's also the issue that any attempt at rerolling just to change my body shape would be a shot in the dark, since there's absolutely no way of knowing what effect one's body shape will have on a specific piece of clothing or parts set until you actually get it.

I still don't see why Sega wouldn't allow for body proportion changes at Lumilass--not height (I can understand that), but bust size/body fat/muscle/etc. Furthermore, CASTs don't get to pick main colors for specific parts--it's all or nothing, and that can lead to some angst when you're going for a certain look.

That's what I'm thinkin'--using the RAcas chest only as compared to the whole set. It looked wierd at first when I was experimenting on AotI Offline (for a while it looked like I was some sort of male mecha musume of the Star Fox SNES Attack Carrier (http://greatfox9000.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/attack_carrier.gif)), but it made me look a LOT more like a modified RAcast than using the Gimnas torso ... even if the Gimnas torso's color distribution roughly matches up with what my paintjob was in PSO.

What do you mean by the gigantic new arms, though?

Yeah, the RAcas parts are too bulky--only the torso looks good on me. The legs, they're too Megaman-like and the thighs are too thick. If I wear those, I might as well call myself "Thunder Thighs." Then again, Lord knows RAcasts sounded like thunder when they walked anyway.

Well, for the purpose of resembling it, that is. The cannonface is cool in the sense that you've got a cannon in your face, but it just doesn't work as a translation of the bird-beaked head in PSO.

Current, the ironman face I feel is awkward with the overall feel of it. Well I'm on chapter 6 right now so I'll be ready soonish to get working on this XD

And the gigantic new arms / atlas arms are apollo pieces, imo they're viable arms but the shoulder pads just come out a bit too far. (god fucking dam it, I'm waaaay too critical of my mechas lol)

1D,1E are my personal favorites. I'm not a fan of the mask choice,I like the head part but not the pointy chin. Just my opinion though.

I really dig RAcast arms. For some reason I think it fits well with the helmet. Not quite the chin. Not really diggin' the "face" mask either. Something low profile?

I'm gonna pop on AoI offline, and see what I can come up with. I'll update with my best takes, and maybe even a look that I came up with.

EDIT: Well first off, I thought I'd so with a little creative out-look, and start working on the look of the face. The helm look for him definitely works, so I used that, and worked on a faceplate for him. Eventually, I came up with this:

Personally, I just like the way it looks on him. Functional, yet...defined.

I went with the rust-colored type coloring, only I decided to go with a different sub-color, one alike to F-Gattaca's PSO form. So, I decided to go for this:

I figured with CV parts, it would give this color a more pronounced look.

As for cast Parts, I decided to keep the Boktos Arms/Legs CV combo, as for a RA-cast look it never fails. But the chest... left something desirable. So I decided to take a gamble, and try a Apollos Chest CV.

So roughly as a final look, here's what I came out with for a final product. I hope it's to your liking, F-Gattaca.

Heh! That faceplate makes me look a little like Jagdpanzer (panzer_unit here at PSOW). What do you think about the faceplate that has the orange lines in it? I've halfway considered that a few times.

As far as the parts setup, the only thing is ... I've messed with the Apollos parts set prior--it comes down to proportions again, because the Apollos Torso makes me look like a mecha Michael Moore; the Apollos Torso mushrooms out around the abdomen.

Makes me (yet again) wish we could alter body proportions at Lumilass ...

I hadn't thought about using a dark color rather than just black, though; that DOES look closer to the darker trim colors on my original PSO paintjob. I oughta try that!

I personally like combinations 1 and 2, and the 3rd was the best out of my randomness. Don't mind the head... I didn't have 1mil to dish on changing it lol but it actually doesn't come out half bad either lol.

Actually, the faceplate with the orange line in it like you suggested actually looks spot-on. Same dignification I was going for, too.

As for the chest, I'm taking a little gamble here, but.... Musagante Torso CV?

Hmm ... I just might have to change my faceplate then! The orange-lined one or the one Shadow Wing used both seem like they'd still have a lot of white/silver/grey even if I used a black main color, which is good because that's what I was hoping for.

It's a shame we don't get floader missions, though--since I'd have to retake pics of myself for CAST Away ...

in my opinion, the racast arms and legs are the best looking for those two categories. i also like the boktos legs, not so much the arms.

maybe try racast arms and Legs, with lobas or evors torso. that hucast torso looks good too.
