On one hand I could buy a bba and play w/ cable online, but I would have to play in my mom's room with the small tv, and sitting on the bed. On the other hand I could buy a modem adapter and play in my own room, on a chair, with the better tv, but I would have to find one of those free keys or whatever that they have on the internet. Do those internet keys even work? Does cable make a diff. when you play online? I would value your opinions.

Go with BBA, free ISPs are crap, and thats if u can even find one.

I would definately much prefer to play in my room. But do the free isp's work? Does broadband make a difference in lag?

I don't think BBA will make a diff most of the time, since if you play on a game that is hosted by a dial-up, your BBA only transfers as fast as the dial-up. The free ISPs work, but since they are free and all, don;t expect good service or long connections. IJ've heard of people d/cing three times just in forest alone with a free ISP.

Are there any free isps that actually work all the time?

Man, just see how long a network cable you would need to go to your moms room and connect it up that way. That way you would have the best of both worlds. How you would get it from her room to yours is the question. Are your rooms side by side, do you live in a house or apartment? You just dont want to put it on the floor from one room to next. If you can, take it through a wall if you are side by side. If not, go through the floor in her room and back up in your room. Network cables dont that much if you look around. You can get a 25' or 50' for $5-$15.

This is the best why for you because you have the cable service already. If you have to, just put the cable on the floor and disconnect it when you are not online.

Um, I'm on the second story, she's on the first...

That would make it harder. Are you right over her room?

The long cable would be the easy way, but some people dont like to have cords or wires running up and down their stairs. But it would be a good idea because he wouldnt have to keep it there all of the time.

My room is not above her's. The long cable is a good idea, I just take it off when I'm not using it. But where could I find a cable that long?

Measure to see how long you need. Or do you know already?

BobMeisterLlama

Measure? How would I do that? All I know is that it would need to be pretty damn long.

BobMeisterLlama

I think it would be about 60 ft., give or take bout 10 feet.

You could try here http://www.a2zcables.com/a2zcables.filereader?3e205e1d06baaaf6271d424d361d0 633+EN/catalogs/1059

If 100' isnt long enough you can try here
http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=CAT5E-1000-15U

I have never put a cable together myself so I dont know how hard that would be. Shouldnt be to hard. If you take this route see if anybody you know can do it for you if you think you might have a problem with it.

I run a 50ft (ish) cable from my bedroom leading downstairs.

It isn't much trouble, though I wouldn't want to disable it every time i turned off pso.

Maybe you could lay it alongside the walls (using tacks).

Thats what i did ^ ^

That's a good idea. I'll ask to see if my mom will let me.

Dammit, they're sold out of BBA's everywhere. Anyone have any suggestions as to where I could buy one?

the easy solution would be to drill a few holes for the cable to run through the wall cavity/roof space.

I dun really know how to do all that wall drilling and stuff. I know a place where they have modem adapters. If this juno really works I might try it. You sure you never got d/c'ed?

Get the BBA. I have both and the BBA is much better. I got the modem first and my connection was crapy. I then had a cable modem hooked up and I could tell a big dif. With the dial-up, if I went to pick-up an item it would lag for almost a sec and some times more. With the BBA it was like playing offline, no lag.

I had Juno(free) on my DC when I played PSOv1 and I had no prob. I tried the free Juno a few months ago and it was a big pain. They cut you off if you stay on to much. It does take then a month or so before they start screwing you over but it is a big pain.

GO WITH BBA

I got a 50-foot cable from Radioshack, about $12-$15 if I remember right.
