Whenever a new player encounters a weapon that makes the game a little more special for them, please do not crush their monster slaying fantasies. What I mean by this is, whenever our kind little 'newbie' or 'n00b' gets, say... A Freeze Buster and is quite happy over it... That is not the time to say 'ROFTL!!!!!!!!!!!!! U suk!! look at my DARK FLOW n00b!!!'. Well, there is NEVER a time to say such unless trying to one-up your fellow friends of high levels. Remember, they pay for this silly game too, and YOU were once one such 'newbie' when you started this game. Unless you had friends who pampered you with duped 11 star weapons and a 200 stat max mag when you started out. Then you are a spoiled little jerk and should not be picking on others anyways. Hee hee.
...
Uh... right. You're really trying wayy too hard.

I agree. I have a Yamato+60 that I treasure dearly, and everyone tells me that "Since you're level 126, you should have something better, unless you're a n00b"(of course, the sentence made by them would be incoherent). Well, I like that weapon. I also like my Lord's Gungnir+10 with 40/0/0/0/45, because it works fine for me on Heat Sword http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

i tend to agree, dont insult people because they are legit players and thats the best they found. i tend to ask people if they want a D. slayer or last survivor or something that i have plenty of because they are junk rares to me. the only people i tend to make fun of are those that have duped weapons and try to pass them off as legit.

I don't know a single n00b who gets happy over a freeze brand and I probably never will. N00bs will be n00bs and that's all there is to it. They will just have to take all the satire that comes with being a n00b lightly and deal with it just like we had too.

I don't see why people are getting upset about this advice...
I just don't think it is nice to be killjoys. When people knock on others finds, calling the item crap, that just makes the person more prone to turn to duping... and there are enough of those already.
Its just a thing about kindness and respect... which is usually SORELY missing from online games. I don't see why asking people to be nice to others is such a bad thing...

Real life or no, its never a bad thing to ask people to not be complete assholes.
Since it's NOT real life, it just means that people don't have to worry about getting the crud beat out of them for being a jerk.

Or nice guys can take a break and be total jerkoff buttheads. If everybody was on Ragol 'please'ing and 'thank you'ing with courtsies there would be about as much fun as a one can find at a tea party.

Why? I think it is completely fair. They chose to be a force which can get techs up to level 30 but they have a low atp. You don't see forces saying that hunters shouldn't have over 1000 atp just because some of them can't do you?

I see people say lots of stuff against shot-type weapons, and right now I see somebody saying you can't criticize somebody's great and wonderful find. As long as everyone is bitching about pointless stuff, I figured I'd jump in the lemming line too.

Not all n00bs are bad. There is an important distinction between "newbie" and "n00b". A newbie is simply a person who is new to the game, and one that has the potential at that time to be a good player later on. A "n00b" is an annoying player, not necessarially a new one, who generally bugs others and acts mean toward others. So, by that train of thought, you can be level 100 or above(I've seen n00bs at level 130) and be a n00b if you constantly annoy people.

Like in real life, it makes things much easier if you at least show a little courtesy. I always say thank you after someone casts Resta/Shifta/Deband/Reverser/Anti on me, and you'd be amazed how far it goes. One time, I found a FO red box on the ground, and there was a force in my group. Being the nice person I am, I decided to just give it to her. She told me to come up with her to P2, and when I followed her, she gave me all these rare items and grinders that she didn't need. I told her that she didn't need to, but she insisted. Then, naturally, I thanked her, and we continued the level like normal.
It's amazing how far a little "Thank you" or "You're welcome" will go.

Yes, but we don't have to tolerate somebody running their mouth off about their love for [insert whatever here] either. If you have a lockgun fetish, it's really not any of my business. Bring it up in conversation though, like bragging about your brand new -5.-5.5.-5.-5 Dim Lockgun though, and thats open invitation for me to call it a stupid find.

Yes, being a killjoy takes a special breed. You seem much too nice for that.
And yes, The person could turn to duping but they could also look at the new weapon in their hand and say, "Holy crap! This thing is Crap! Thank God someone told me about the crappiness of this crap that is before me and saved me from embarrassing myself online!"
I highly doubt the latter scenario but it's nice to keep an open mind. (But not too open lest ye brain fall upon the floor.)

It's not a bad thing per se, however, if someone is not being nice, and someone else tells them to be nice, this causes them to go on the defensive.

Hai, hai. This is all true.
If you tell someone IN the game while you are IN character that the new weapon they just got is craptastical this is fine, IF you want your character to seem prickish and completely beat down by the system. However, if you are OUT of the game talking on a forum ABOUT the game and someone gets excited over a weapon you think is crap and you tell said person your opinion, this is no longer role playing. This is being mean.
"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
"Do unto others, as you would have others do unto you."
There's about a million of those out there and they all translate to "don't be a doodie head".
Of course this is all my humble opinion.
But seriously, how many people really get down and dirty with the role-playing when they are on pso? Without a keyboard, it makes it a little... dfclt u no wut i mean?

I think I may have forgotten what my character looks like! I keep waiting for him to loose interest in the game so I can play too. Fat chance, neh?
Plus in groups online I think I would piss too many people off. I would have to be rescued so often, I can get myself lost in a paper bag and I have tried to type using that non querty keyboard thing. It is evil.
It would take me 2 minutes to say "Help!"
Watching me work that on screen keyboard is like watching a monkey doing a math problem. It's not pretty.

Normally I would agree... but there are a couple of things I would say in my defense;
1) This is an online game with no consequences (as was stated earlier in this thread). The individual called ugly who wanted to be a rapist would have to weigh the consequences of his actions, as they are incredibly severe.
2) If somebody gets their stuff called crap constently, it takes little to no effort to start using dupes. And there are currently no consequences. I know MANY people so far who have ended up turning to using dupes (that were 100% legit before) because they couldn't get good stuff...
So, while I agree it would be a bit extreme, I think my statement could happen, and has happened.

Spy, since you go on and on about it.. do you actually do any real roleplaying, or is roleplaying your excuse for justifying acting in any offensive manner you feel like? Because if you were actually roleplaying then you'd be acting as your "Spy" character when playing.
Please tell me, what's the character's history? What'd they do before they went on Pioneer 2? Exploits? What'd they do on the long journey? What was it like, how'd it make them feel? What's your character's personality? What are likes and dislikes? Strengths and weaknesses? Greatest fear? Provide a sample bit of text showing the character in action.
If your wondering, these questions were ripped from the applications to play characters from a few places that strictly enforce roleplaying. Since you go on and on about this being a roleplaying game, you should have no problem giving back a reply that's around 52 KB of plain text.

I roleplay almost all the time. Care to join me for a game?

Spy is one of my older characters, so I did make the common mistake of plotting out a long, exquisite background for him instead of allowing him to in the game and allow his actions there to define him.
Spy is an Enforcer, created by the Makers of the universe to "enforce" their will. Think of it as gods and angels. Spy was one one of around 100 Enforcers, and did his job well until the Makers created a new group of beings to delegate their work to, the Governors. The Governors had no respect for the Makers and the Enforcers and only cared about advancing their own agendas. They was a civil war as Enforcers turned on the Governors while some stayed in their services. Spy was approached by the leader of the resistence and was asked to join. The leader, Shepard, was killed before Spy, who was unwittingly used as bait, could answer.
The Enforcer corp. was cut down to half strength so the Governors started making their own, more docile Enforcers, as well as behomoth androids dubbed "Hunter Killers."
Shortly after the civil war a techno-parasitic race was discovered to be raging across the known universe. After the Governors deemed Enforcers as expendable in the eradication of this threat, and Spy lost several friends, he started acting out openly against the Governors, and was caught after destroying one of the core Hunter Killer(HK) production facilities. Spy was deemed guilty of treason, but possibly useful in the future. Spy was put on ice and was awakened years later aboard an Enforcer Ship, the Dark Horse, that was looking for a ship that had been lost for a couple weeks, the Nightshade. Spy never did find out exactly why he was on said mission, but the Nightshade was found derelect in the orbit of Ragol. The Pioneer 2 emerged from hyperspace or whatever, sent both ships out of whack, and they crashed into Ragol. Spy made it into an escape pod and was picked up by the Pioneer 2 and was put into the service of Principal Tyrell.
Does that work, or do you have more stupid hoops for me to jump through?

I've already got the static ip's. A second gamecube would RULE right now since I still feel guilty taking Munki's PSO away from him so I can farm my mags. (I LOVE feeding mags =^_^=)
Good thing Munki's my PSO sugar daddy or I would not be able to afford all that "mag food". (They really are pigs aren't they? But they are so CYOOOOT!)
I am trying to get more familiar with the controls and chat features offline so that I don't inflict myself on people when I do go online. (Of course I'm just making excuses because playing online scares the crap out of me.) I fear that I will end up getting my entire group killed and as a Force, I'm supposed to be healing and reviving people, right? =P
The last online game I played (besides a MUD) was Diablo and there was so much lag that my vicious bow of lightning was inadvertently killing my team mate. First he was on my right killing succubi with me then he was dead at my feet. Oh the guilt. You just can't imagine.
Of course he got me back by making it his mission to fill his inventory with my ears.

I guess I listen to Munki talk about his Force Philosophy so much it's rubbed off on me. He thinks a good force is one that makes sure his teammates are spelled up and healed. When that's taken care of, monster ass kicking's are the next item on the agenda.
Anyhow, I always play the Scribe/Mage/Cleric characters in games. I am just used to being the one who needs a tank and who lags behind and heals while someone else provides the beat down.
