I've heard of a rare blue and a rare yellow one, but never green. Awesome pictures

Edit: They seem to only show up in online quests, I haven't heard a single report of any being seen since the halloween quest until Famitsu came out

I don't really think it's rare per se. If you read the description of the plant critters on one of the computer consoles (during offline single-player mode) it mentions the Mericarol and how it has more than one variation. The Mericarol just randomly shows up in different forms that have slightly different attacks (the Mericus causes shock if I remember correctly, as opposed to the Mericarol causing confusion). It wouldn't surprise me if the Mericus even drops the same thing as a standard Mericarol. However, I can't proove that, as I've never gotten a special item off of either of them. Perhaps someone else has and can verify or denounce that.

Today I was doing Famitsu in ult and we made it to the jungle bosses.
All 3 were different, standard Mericol, the green one and then the blue one!
Since I always take the mountain path I thought this was a normal occurence... now I know better.

However I still do not know if they drop anything different (I hope they do!) because all I got from them was meseta.

I saw three different ones in the same room the other day. I was only playing in Normal though so I'm not sure if they would have dropped anything good. The blue one (Meri..kats? I think..) freezes instead of confuses. The other one I killed too quickly. And the third was plain ol' Mericarol. I also have not seen any of these different versions except for in Maximum Attack 2.

They only show up online? GHEAAAHHH. How frustrating for those of us who can't afford to GET online. Very annoyed, just like I was about the St Rappies...
