Just started playing PSU (360 version), gamertag GobTheGnomeKing. You may have noticed my younger brother wandering the forums, named after an internet meme he does not even comprehend yet.

Anyway, it's pretty good. For some reason, I'd gotten started playing PSO again back on the GameCube. The Offline gameplay began to bore me rather quickly, then I noticed PSU. Picked up a copy after playing the beta for a couple days, and I'm enjoying it so far.

Just did my first run through one of the missions on Neudaiz (sp?), found three Rappies, picked up three Rappy's Feathers... And it made me wonder, are the rare enemies and/or items much more common (relatively speaking) than in PSO? Not that it's a bad thing; spending 3 weeks on a hunt for a Sealed-J Sword and coming up empty handed does not equal much entertainment, I think.

Anyway, anyone have any basic information or comments on the game in comparison to its predecessor? Not whether the game is better or worse, though. I don't want to start an argument on that, which I presume could happen somewhat easily from what I saw on the PSO forums looking around earlier. Just differences and such, I suppose.

Oh, and to get an image to apper in my signature, what do I do? Most forums use the [IMG] tags, but that didn't seem to work. <img> tags, maybe?

EDIT: Forgot to ask, what are the level caps now for jobs, characters, and partner machines? It looks like 15, 110, and 200 (?), respectively, but I was just wondering.

Level cap atm is 110
Job Classes at 15

Never played PSO much, so i'll leave it for others to answer that question

I had that happen to me too when I first started around July. Ran Unsafe Passage and BOOM three Rappies. My friend who was in the room at the time freaked out and I didn't comprehend it. It's simply beginner's luck.

Mingle as much as you can. There are a lot of people out there that will help you. You should also try to open a shop as soon as you can. When I was a newb I sold all types of photons and got good money out of it until I could sell better things. Good luck to you, and have fun http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

It must be SEGA's way to give new players false hope in finding rare monsters. Only later do we realize it isn't true. It's a trap!! XD

Rare items, ie Red Boxes feel more common in PSU than PSO, but then red boxes felt way more significant in PSO.

A bulk of your "rares" will be synthesis ingredients like Ores(Kerseline/Vestaline/etc,) Ebons(Neu/Par/Mot) and maybe some metals(Slaterian/Chicotite/Cyral were some of my first.)
But these are just ingredients, not a weapon you may(class allowing.)

You'll start seeing more red once you reach around level 40 and can start to do various A and S versions of the missions you've been playing.
