The Warhammer 40K Space Marines
Now Starcraft may have locked on to that thing but here's the thing Warhammer and Warhammer 40K were supposed to be made by Blizzard but games Workshop the gits said no so they made that stuff which is not really all the different.
Now to see how Halo monkeyed it:
Spartans right, arent' they taken from youth and trained and Modified and are 7 foot behemoths?
Here's the Space Marines, they have their "Wargames" and when the strong Survive, they take them and then put them through genetic changes by putting in "gene-seed" in them and of that the strong Survive as usual and they grow into huge 7-8 foot monsters that weigh 600-800 pounds without Armour and they go raze their foes.
Yup it's from them.
