I personally think the voice chat will ruin the charm of the game.

Right now using the text messages lends some to the RPG immersion quality of the game. PS purists say they dont like PSO as PSO players are only interested in leveling, and rares....

I think Voice Chat, and the mentality of Live players who think MechAssualt is Ras will really detract from the PS universe immersion factor.

Unless the XBOX version has like EPIII or something included, ill be sticking with the GC PSO. The only games I like on XBOX right now anyway are Genma Onimusha, GUN V, Silent Hill2, Metal Gear Solid 2, JSRF, and soon Panzer Dragoon ORTA. XBOX needs more japaneese games, as their current Live service games remind me of a bad Unreal Tourney experience on the PC.

Agreed. I am an old skool Phantasy Star guy. Any PS game needs to have text based communication. A massive HUcast wont be nearly as intimidating with a 10 yr old kid voice talking about how he "ownz in Ghost Recon"

Well you seem to forget that there will be a keyboard, and it won't be $80+ to get one either heck you can use the keyboard on your computer after you plug the USB adapter in. If you don't like voice chat don't use it simple as that. Chances are half will use a keyboard while the other half will go with voice chat it just depends on what you like. I'd say give it a chance, however this is your decision. Hope you go with the Box PSO. : )

I for one can care less, use a keyboard or no. If you hate vioce chat then let me introduce you to mr. mute button. Just don't expect them to remove voice chat entirely because people say its gonna suck. If they say its coming, embrace it or shun it, its still coming.

Actually, the reviews from the Beta Test in Japan are overwhelmingly positive. There is narry a complaint about voice chat.

And, really, what the hell is a "PS Purist"? I've been playing PS games for a decade now, and I certainly don't care how communication is carried out in the newest installment in the series.

I cant wait. I got rid of my GCN one because of the total lack of any real keyboard solution. I had the import keyboard but I found it too small for my hands. Plus chatting will be so much easier. Imagine the great and funny conversations you can have while playing. I have had alot of fun playing Mech Assault with others and we talk about everything from the game to "does anyone really like MK:DA?" lol.

You'll see that Muting someone aint hard so i think u can do the same in psox. We should worries less on Mic/KB and more on the Hacking/Duping thats goin to be on Xbox if any.

Heh, I have no money to get an X-Box or PSO for it.

If I did, though, I probably wouldn't use voice chat anyway. Why? Because it's easier to type, IMO. I tend to talk too fast for people to hear it or at an annoyingly high pitch, and it'd probably annoy people to hear me squeal and giggle, so... yeah. Keyboard only for me, even if I do get an X-Box someday.

On the other hand, if you're a slow typist, using voice chat might be better for you. It really depends on the person.

Voice chat will be better if you have friends that live near you that play PSO also. Because you are use to talking to them everyday possibly. Keyboaring is still going to be 70% of the game for me.

I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!!! am i the only one?? thats why i liked the cube, cuz the controller "melts in your hands", its soo comfortable! I like the X-BOX's online structure.. its affordable! it sure as hell beats GameCube, cuz there is no other online games.. too bad for ms that they couldnt make a better controller for the BOX......

The S-Controller is beautiful. It fits in your hands great! You really should try it out. I personally didn't like the GC controller, I think my hands might have been a bit big for it. Anyways yeah try the S-Controller.

Personally, I think that the S controller is the best controller for any system every made. The GC controller sucks compared to it, and that's saying a lot.

Voice chat won't be that bad...in fact, it could help you find better players. The n00bs will probably be the ones swearing like sailors and saying stupid things. It's just like the text chat now, except with voice. And you can always get the keyboard, too.

No NES advantage was the best controller for any console period. I have had mine for god knows how long and it still works fine, those things were built like tanks. This may sound odd but after years and years of online gaming in various MUDS, MMORPGS, and other crap voice chat seems so unnatural to me, not to mention I have a problem keeping my temper in check during the Seabed levels. I type damned fast that operating a keyboard while playing really isn't that much of a hassle. Though if you type slow I would defenitely be excited about voice chat.
