AotI-PC/PS2: No S Ranks?

I'm currently playing the offline story mode of AotI, and ran into an interesting situation. I was unsure of whether this was temporary, or just how the game was programmed. I understand that free missions are now categorized into C, B, and A, just as they are online, and this made me ecstatic. As I plan to join the online mode soon anyway, it was a great way to get a slightly better feel for what I'd be paying for monthly. However, I also noted the absence of any S or S2 missions. I was wondering if these missions are ever available to offline play, or if they were kept for online? Thanks in advance for any help.

have you beaten the offline story mode entirely? i believe that is what unlocks them.

And to avoid future tragedy, Please be aware that offline characters cannot be played online. I've seen several people really disappointed about their 100+ characters not being able to get online.
