Please refrain from making lewd symbols, espicaly ones of the animated sort. Not only is Sega looking to ban you for such now, it is morally corrupt. Now of course those who are guilty shall raise a defiant 'STFU bich!!!! ROFTL!' at this advice, yet they should keep in mind the following:

If you have the urge to make such you are most likely (based on statistics of those who do such things) under the age of consent in your state. This is some naughty stuff you should not be doing, little man.

It shows a extreme sense of sexual depravity, and only makes you look like even more of a virginal loser you silly kid.

Erotica may be considered a primal, and at times a pleasing artform, but stick figures shagging each other, a scene depicting masturbation, or the oodles of simplified naked female figures out there is just crude and pathetic.

In conclusion. It's been done, it shows what a complete and total dork you are, and there is no justification for it, even if you cite Keith Herring as your inspiration. At least his stick figures had positive messages!

Would you consider a stick figure sitting on a toilet lewd?

KouHotaru
01-14-2003, 02:51 AM
No, but only if it's a part of a symbol conveying that you are going to go off and take a restroom break. Otherwise it's kinda pointless and silly to have one.

I quite agree with KouHotaru.

There's no real point in putting in pointlessly lewd and off-color comments, as all it does is get a cheap laugh once, and then annoy from that point forward.

I swear to Falz, the next time I see that stupid farting animation, or any iteration thereof, I am going to scream.

CajunSamurai

I don't mind the occasional lewd symbol chat usually, animated or otherwise, but JEEZ, we don't need to see it every 5 friggin' seconds, kid. Just recently, some dufus in Anteres 8 was using a VERY crude and poorly constructed animation consisting of... probably 3 frames and the same "WHOA!" sound effect. After at least two minutes of this lamerism, I think I insulted the tard using presets or something.

Ness

The only reson you are offended by erotica and lewd symbols is because you're a feminist. They don't bother me that much, but they do get old after awhile. I wouldn't say that they offended me though.

Oh course not! In know males that are offended by erotica, but it's usually a female that ends up complaining about it.

This is because men have trouble communicating. If something bothers them they usually try to smash it with a hammer rather then complain. =P

Women can be making lewd symbols too, and to say that men can only communicate by smashing with a hammer is insanly sexist; although I have been known to literally pound away at my keyboard.

These social tips or whatever are getting old and pointless, and I only reply because they are basically freeposts.

I personally think that kind of stuff is hilarious, if done well. Of course, when someone repeats it over and over again, it gets annoying, but I've already had my chuckle at it. I also love potty humor, though -- also had a bumper sticker on my car that said "Jesus Saves by Shopping Wisely and Using Double Coupons", which is now being replaced with one that says "Darwin Loves You" -- so that's my bag.

It doesn't offend me at all. Sometimes it makes me laugh. If someone's animated sequence of presets is just pathetic and not at all funny, I just don't pay attention to it.

At least I know some people have IQs higher than the Def on their Mag http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Any chat symbol can be annoying after awhile. Especially if every one is doing it all the time. Lewd and perverted symbols are unnecessary. IF the ST bans them it would be kewl to me.

i love symbol chats as long as they arent spammed for minutes on end. Me and my friends make stupid symbols all the time for laughs, and everyone has a laugh when we use them (not to the point where people want to shove our testicles up into our stomach) but some people do over use lame symbols and it gets rather obnoxious.

Other than that i think some peoples sence of humor could increase a few notches.

There's a difference between something humorous and something lewd. Keep the masturbation out of the symbol chat. If you feel the need to do the fart thing, use it sparingly.

I have to whole-heartily agree with KouHotaru. There is a time and place for such material/action and PSO is definately not it. Whatever you do in your personal time... fine. If you have a group that accepts this behavior, then fine, go off and do it amongst yourselves. The least you could do is respect others while playing. And before you go off saying "OMG d00d I pay for a HL I can do whatvr I want!!11," just recognize the fact that there are others that pay just like you, and some do not appreciate this immaturity. I don't expect a good amount of you will totally understand what KouHotaru is getting at in these recurring topics. However, put away your pride for once and refrain from the ignorant statements. Two seemed to be quite disturbing to me. And, I am myself a male:

Impressive. I never expected to be proven wrong here. I won't question whether or not Sonic Team have the power to take action against you if you do such things. Frankly, I knew they have the power to take action, but I just wanted to see this in writing. However, I will question Sonic Team's determination to enforce their rules. Sonic Team's rules have been broken so many times in the past, and they are still being broken, that the majority of PSO's players do not even care about the rules anymore. Others, like myself, don't even bother reading the rules.

On another note, aren't certain game character names copyrighted? If so, wouldn't a name like Sephiroth(please let it be against the rules) be against the rules?

No, you cannot slap a copyright on a name. You can make it a trademark, and if Square did so, it would prevent other companies from making RPG supervillains named "Sephiroth".

It would not, however, prevent you from naming your child Sephiroth, keep an automobile manufacturer from making a car called the Sephiroth, or, keep someone from naming their PSO character Sephiroth. It would just mean that the exact type of item which has been trademarked -- in this case, an RPG character -- cannot be made with the same name in a product that will be marketed and sold.

I think it could also mean "free advertisement" for Square. I mean, wouldn't people who doesn't know about Sephiroth (and FF7 for that matter) become interested about him if they constantly see others "using" that name?

Well, that's what I *think* anyway....

Oh course not! In know males that are offended by erotica, but it's usually a female that ends up complaining about it.

Some of the females here have considered the comments I wrote earliers sexist. Alriught then how is is sexist and how is it not true.

How many men have you heard whine about erotica? 1? 2? 0?

Now how many women have you heard whine about erotica? Well one for sure because you read this thread, and probably any feminist you talk to will say "It exploits women for sexual reasons and should be banned"

When ever something relating to sexuality comes up it's always the women feminist that complain about it saying it is offensive and stuff, but if you were go to their favorites list on their computer you would probably find male porn sites. This is another example of a feminist double standard.

In short, no I'm not sexist, I believe women should have as many rights as men. But to say that women complain about erotica less than men is a lie. Especially when they love it too (well many of them do).

Seriously, this argument's sort of pointless. You can't make a broad generalization about a whole gender. I have friends that are men that are offended by erotica because it treats women as objects.

Look, I don't care for lewdness in PSO. Other times I might enjoy it, but when I'm trying to fight off a mob of Hildebears, I don't need to have someone flashing cheap pixel pr0n.

Stop with the sexist, overgeneralized comments. >Ness

Of course, I'm sure your peer group of 14-year-old boys or whatever finds no problem with porn. But if you get a chance to look at the rest of the world, a lot of men, along with women, find porn to be objectionable. Of course there'll be more women complaining, though; porn is aimed at men (for the most part), and ingrains in them impossible ideals of beauty that 99% of women don't have a chance to achieve without plastic surgery and/or eating disorders. Nowadays, it seems like guys won't even look at a woman if she's not 20 pounds underweight or a 36D or something, since our culture seems to have a really hard time distinguishing fantasy from reality. Being constantly sized up like a piece of meat gets really tiresome. If you were female, wouldn't you be angry about that, too? There are a lot of guys that understand this, too, and they don't want to contribute to the problem.

I don't have a problem with porn, as long as people realize that it's just a fantasy, and as long as it doesn't end up replacing intimate time with your partner. But most guys, even if they can't help it, are imprinted with this idealized view of women being skinny/large-breasted/ large-lipped/long-legged, and any other type is unattractive to them. The media contributes to this somewhat, but most guys look at stuff like Playboy from the time they're 11 or 12 years old. It's pretty depressing.

People dig the best graves for themselves. I say sally fourth Ness!

Porn also "implants"(haha, I made a blatant pun) the idea in the boys who read it that they themselves are inadequetely equiped. In this regard, pronography is a lose/lose suituation for everyone.

Nowadays, it seems like guys won't even look at a woman if she's not 20 pounds underweight or a 36D or something, since our culture seems to have a really hard time distinguishing fantasy from reality. Being constantly sized up like a piece of meat gets really tiresome.

Sex in the city - men are sized up too in media it seems a lot more blatantly than women. Again, it's happening on both sides of the two-way street.

I don't have a problem with porn, as long as people realize that it's just a fantasy, and as long as it doesn't end up replacing intimate time with your partner.

Amen. However, I have found that when I have an intimate partner I have no real need for porn. Go figure.

But most guys, even if they can't help it, are imprinted with this idealized view of women being skinny/large-breasted/ large-lipped/long-legged, and any other type is unattractive to them.

Haha, I'm a fan of this. It cuts down my competition exponentially.

Dude: Spy, your new girl isn't all that hot.

Spy: Well, I'm not really into her for physical appearance, not to say that she isn't hot, because she is, but at least I have a girl friend. You've been looking for what, like 8 months now?

The media contributes to this somewhat, but most guys look at stuff like Playboy from the time they're 11 or 12 years old.

The media contributes to it alot, yet again, on both sides.

It's pretty depressing.

Yes and no. It cuts back a lot of the normal same-o pedestrians and eliminates them from the pool, making the special fish easier to find and catch.

What's really depressing was how many people needed to see my pic to determine a "no" vote for my "Am I Sexy" poll. I was hoping more people would have pointed out that I'm a fucking asshole in my replies and voted no on that point alone. That says a lot about society and the emphasis on physical appearance right there though ^_^

Spy, you're absolutely right... media/porn affects males' perceptions of themselves, too, especially in the, er, size department. I always have to reassure that "it's not the size, it's how many times you can make it rise."

heh...

The typical toned look that's considered "hot" for guys kinda scares me, too. I like having something to squish, not just meat and bones. ;_;

XD I can relate to this!

I completely agree. In fact, I was going to mention the same point before the aliens jacked my brain.

Back to history homework...

Cute rhyme. I could comment that I've never needed to hear such reassurances, but would anyone really believe me? Egads! I've already said too much http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_mad.gif
