View Full Version : Apple blows

So...i bought an 2nd Generation Ipod Shuffle a few weeks ago. Its pretty cool. I mean for a gig it holds what i need it too. I don't need 8 gigs worth of music. Too much, too expensive. 80 bucks is do able.

So about 10 minutes ago i accidentally stepped on my Ipod Dock/Charger. And the little prong thing broke.

So i called Apple and try to play it off like a warranty issue

Me: Hello, yes, i was taking the Ipod off the Dock and the prong snapped. So now i can't charge and upload music to said Ipod.

Apple Rep: Can i have your Ipod's Serial Number please

Me: *gives said numbers*

Apple Rep: I'm sorry sir, but the warranty doesn't cover the dock. That's considered an accessory.

Me: But you need it...in...order to actually use...the Ipod. Without it...it's just a piece of plastic...

Apple Rep: Sorry sir. If you want i can connect you to the Ordering Department, where you can place an order for a new one.

Me: Will i get a credit for it?

Apple Rep: No sir i'm sorry.

Me: Well that sucks.

-Hangs up-

Before any of you say

'You shouldn't have stepped on it'

or

'Your fault for being irresponsible'

or

anything that falls between those lines

The actual thing itself to buy is 30 bucks plus tax (yes they actually charge tax for an online order) plus the shipping method.

The thing isn't worth 30 bucks. and the fact that the only way to use the Ipod is with that dock, they're calling it an accessory.

In short.

Apple sucks.

But damn, do they're products kick so much ass.

P.S.

Apple still sucks.

Could always try yelling at someone.

But, yeah, Apple has terrible customer service, though it isn't too bad when compared to some other companies.

i stopped yelling at people. Last time i did that someone yelled back. Sorta threw me off guard. I'm kinda just like yeah whatever and deal it myself.

Still though. 30 bucks for a thing that's always breaking. Its crap i tell you! crap!

I thought about calling customer support today just to ask if I can use Disk Defragmenter on it. LOL!

I used it anyway. >.>

few things.

-ppl like you are why limited warranties typically cover fuckall (that and they want to make and keep a buck). sorry you stepped on it though.

-electronics companies and especially their retailers make most of their profits on accessories like cables, chargers, etc. They mark them up like CRAZY and people still buy them because its sort of like a cartel: everyone does it.

-a company doesn't suck because they won't cover something you broke and replace it as if it were a manufacturer's defect. That being said, apple does suck for many other reasons.

-you *could* have been nicer to the sales rep instead of just hanging up. I'm sure he as a person would want to hook you up but his hands are tied by the all-powerful corporate policy rope.

-I dunno why I decided to be a judgemental prick with this thread but I hope it helps somewhat.

Leson learned. Don't buy Apple products if you ever think it will break (which it will because its an Apple product).

all of the Apple products we have had have lasted for a very long time. the only exception was a keyboard that got orange juice was spilled all over it. APPLE FTW!

.__.;

didn't i say...at the OP...nevermind.

anyway. The dock itself is poor quality. My friend, today, had to order a replacement as well. Why? Because when he took his Ipod off the dock, the metal prong came with it.

Also, i stepped on it with my bare foot. My heel to be exact. At any rate. Apple really should re-make that product. At least make it a USB Cable or something. Seriously. I'm thinking of making my own using the broken parts from my old dock and it's USB cable end.

Ah well.

Moral of the Story:

Apple blows. Apples are good to eat. And Elvis will always live on in our hearts.

and the one thing that does break send the indestructable wii mote into something that is destuctable. (albeit, when handled by over-dramatic idiots)
