I've been hearing alot of talk about a rollback on the 360 servers, my question is what the hell is going on that is making people think there will be a rollback?

The glitch will ruin the balance of the economy because theirs a way to dupe grinder to +10. The only people that are going to use it are the ones that are desperate for meseta. I'm not going to use it.

I recommend pulling items out of your shops everyone...there's going to be A LOT of bogus meseta floating around. So...I guess we can do that PC/PS2 and 360 server merge now right? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

There was just a message saying that the GMs are investigating and will be suspending all suspicious accounts with 48 hour suspensions.. 48 hours is pretty weak.

EDIT:Nevermind, it says a minimum of 48 hours.

Damn. Well, hopefully, if they do rollback, we will at least get an extra week of this event, because if I'm right about how Sega rolls back the servers, we will be rolled back to the previous maintnence, thereby negating the week.

Or has the rollback accurred already?

Fox_Makenshi

That sucks that this happened but hey if the PS2/PC Version can survive it then the 360 version definitely can. Plus at this point in the game it's not that hard to get several mil legit anyways. When it happened on PS2/PC version money was a lot harder to get.

Rollbacks suck btw, I dunno if I even want to play tonight because of the possibility.

I've been trying it on PS2/PC (with C+7 grinders on a store-bought Sword, oh noes!), and it appears it doesn't work on PS2/PC... unless you need to use a gamepad (which I'm not).

Akaimizu
Jan 29, 2008, 02:51 PM
Possible it's a gamepad thing, but I don't know about it. The report mentioned specifically S grinders for this....but I can't tell you how conclusive that info is.

Nope, which is why I was inquiring.
I didn't post anything about pc/ps2 vs 360...so don't drag me into a flame war.
My question was directed toward knowing if it was capable cross platform.

The glitch is actually very simple to set up, it requires an investment of about 300,000 Meseta, and if Sega is just now hearing about it I'm very worried. From everything I've found out on the subject this glitch has been in use for ages.

Incidentally if a rollback does occur they (from what I've found out from people who've been through a couple) are only 24 hour setbacks.

Edit - Wow, I just saw the video. Apparently there are two different grinder glitches. Yay. -_-

Well, I've got a pad here, and Joy2Key, but I'm not really sure what button on the PC keyboard layout would correspond to 360's "B". If anyone knows, I'll use my remaining 10 C+7 grinders to squelch this possibility (I used 27 so far with no luck).

Well, I technically got it to work.

I know discussing how to do glitches isn't allowed so I'll keep this explanation bare-boned.

I canceled out of the dialogue, but unlike in the 360 video, the visual bar didn't stay on screen (though it did use the grinder). Then I went to the NPC and sent my items to my room, and they didn't duplicate. Yay. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

From the official PSU board.

Obviously now everyone is aware there is an item duplication exploit in the game, most obviously on the Xbox 360 although it may be on the PC or PS2 as well.

We have been investigating this issue for a few weeks, and some people might have heard that we had suspended about a dozen suspected accounts before Sonic Team was able to zero in on the logs of the cheaters and report them to the GMs. We released the accounts that were only guilty of buying and selling duplicated items and permanently banned the known cheaters.

Last night the secret method to duplicate items was published and we have been forced to suspend 26 more accounts, maybe more before the exploit method is removed.

As we have warned in an in game message, please be aware that we are suspending accounts for at least 48 hours that we suspect are using the glitch. Further actions including permanent bans will be determined by Sonic Team.

We will have more information tonight and tomorrow morning.

Well, this whole incident saddens me, people that exploit games like this really need to get a life. Luckily, I've only played a couple of hours since the last update, so even if we do get rolled back all I'll be missing is a couple of partner cards and a few level that I can easily make up.

Hmmm....
Suspending accounts, and no mention of a rollback. I'm still waiting to hear if it's safe to seriously level/rare hunt till I hear if a rollback will hit us or not.

But then again, when the GM rare x-max mission was accidentally released, they immediately rolled back that same afternoon, no? So perhaps this is Sega's solution to avoiding a rollback?

I wonder, will they really need to Roll Back? I mean it's not like when the Debug mission was out, where you had all kinds of different items being spread across the Community, it's really just the S Grinders, right, so the duped could be easily singled out?

Be interesting to see if Sonic Team can control this, because from the looks of it the glitch would allow you to duplicate any item. And I would imagine if you put in your meseta, rinsed and repeated, you could max out your common box fairly easily and eventually have max meseta across your characters in a jiffy.

How far back Sonic Team will have to go to minimize this is going to be a tough decision, as it will run through the event and the finds from it that honest players might not get again.

If it can really be done with any item, then we will definitely have a big problem on our hands. If it were only the S Grinders then they could probably be singled out, kinda like what ST was attempting to do to avoid a rollback with the Debug mission.

Therefore, PC will never be on an even level with 360 in terms of damages.

A lot of informed people will be fine with it. However, a lot of PSU is made up of players who.....er...never visit these sites that much. Put in their hard work, and come back to play. The people, who are going to be the most miffed, are the ones who will find out only after the fact.

In fact, they could be playing right now, and they finally obtained that Bow that they've worked most of a year trying to get, with no idea that they are about to lose it.

Yeah I know. It's just sad that there are some idiots who have to ruin it for everyone and exploit every glitch they can to get a ton of money on a game which has absolutly no hope of making the top 100 games on live.

I hear you...
Most kinds of glitches don't bother me (mech-gun glitch for example).
But economy related exploits can effect everyone, often directly.

Your proof? Greed got insta-boot from the servers (That was the shop theif), what the hell are you talking about? Anywho, at BlkBeast I also ask you what the hell are you talking about? Its a glitch they cant hack naturally meaning they are powerless against snitches.

Lets go back to around when the game was 1st released. How long was IG, Ryuk, etc around for when they 1st discovered the hax? They started PC/PS2 hax from around Nov '06 and ended (sorta) in Feb '07 (A day or 2 before Dual Sentinal/Desert Goliath was 1st released) when the whole mass banning happened.

Theres proof.

I doubt there will be a rollback. PC/PS2 didn't get a rollback when people had items stolen from their shops (many new 11* = gone). It would more than likely hurt more players than it woudld help. The ONLY reason there ever was a rollback was because of ST's mistake that they wanted to fix. There probably won't be one unless something totally catastrophic happens.

a rollback of >1 week + during event = horrible, horrible mistake.

Though I give ST a 50/50 chance (a true 50/50) for rollback/no rollback, it would be tragic if everything people did in the past week+ was reset. Many of the ppl that just reciently joined (I noticed an explosion of high account #s in the past week) may just quit and move on...

Fox_Makenshi

I doubt there will be a rollback, especially since the event is going on. Not trying to start a console war here but just look at it this way.

When PS2/PC got hacked and had tons of meseta pouring in it was still fairly early in the game, millions were a bit harder to get. This went on for quite some time until ST did something.

Some idiot decides to dupe S Grinders to make easy max meseta on the 360. At this point in the game it's not going to hurt the economy as much since millions of meseta aren't THAT hard to make. Plus ST is dealing with it fairly quickly so the amount of meseta made this way isn't going to be as much.

Love,
Fox Makenshi

I've just seen the glitch, it's scary effective. I was wrong about how it works though I know now. An entire common box full of 99* s+10 grinders.... meh.... now the information is out and about I guess lots of people will be doing it despite the fact they could get banned.

Even though it's not on my server(yet?) I will be leaving the whole grinding thing alone for a while.

I think as it is a glitch it may work on PS2, I hope not but... Sega backup now!

Yeah they will most likely rolleback but I swear if I lose my stuff such as the agito I searched almost all the event, running true darkness and dark satallite for then I am going to have to say goodbye to PSU for good. It has been nearly a month since this glitch and though I did not glitch noobs and newbs to the game have and have better stuff and more mesetta than I have ever seen before. This saddens me because me and my friends have put almost 2000 hours + into this game and I finally feel satisfied finding my agito and most of the edges myself. If they take that away from me that is the last straw and I am gone for good. I will be playing WoW instead. I love you PSU if only you were not broken.

I mean 2000+ hours a piece not combined and I have had really no money my entire PSU career since I mostly just do runs and really dont sell anything. IF they try to pull something like rolleback the servers and give us all luck and another new and even cooler event. I still will not play. Although the event was great it was just too easy to level. People who have just started have gotten the stuff that cost me hundreds of runs to get. That is what this event has ttaught me. I can just wait untill the events to cash in. I mean I searched for the Kan Yu more than any of these Newbs same with all the cool weapons I had to actually work to get them and then I see all these 70000 numbers with all S rank palletes and it just drives me mad. and I still have not found one, they just do one event and are at mysame level and have 5-6 of them now. Sega sux but that is my opinion. I will admit though that I have not ran the event as much as them but still if they rollback the servers as many expect and I lose that Agito that I have spent almost a month to find I will bid this game farwell. Thanks for hearing my rant.

Ok fine, but how far back of a rollback? If it goes back to last thursday, I will be soo pissed off. I got two of my alts to hybrid class status due to the advantages of the winter event. That kind of progress can't be made up with my time schedule. The last Rollback was bad enough, but if ST pulls off one that far back, we're going to have problems.

I hear you, I just pulled out a46% dedda...if they roll us back to last week, then my alt loses nearly 1/2 of his levels and that [b] ank dedda never happened. that board is the only good thing I've gotten from this event, too...

Wait, wait, wait. Sega is asking for a LIVE ban as well? What are they f'ing out of their minds? It not like they hacked Live or even PSU. It was a bug that was ST's fault. I firmly believe that those who took advantage be removed, but there are no grounds for a LIVE ban.

Like someone else pointed out, this is basically the same Dupe method in the PSO. ST just hasn't learned to fix their mistakes, IN 8 F'ING years.

LIVE bans, if they actually get Microsoft to do that, I say F' ST and I'm glad people took advantage of it.

I'm sorry to say this but screenshots don't really mean anything. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif I had screenshots of the Ebrozike and Neiclaw I found right before the last rollback. I sent the screenshots to ST, politely asking if there was anything they could do to compensate me. The response I got was pretty much what I expected: nothing. I won't even bother asking to be compensated if it happens again.

The best we can hope for right now is that the problem gets resolved before a rollback is necessary.

Well, I think there is a solid position for a LIVE ban as well. Exploiting glitches in the game is a violation of the EULA of PSU, and in turn it is probably a clause in the EULA of LIVE. The fact that ST is taking steps to enforce the EULA is sweet music to my ears, even if they don't succeed in getting these people banned from LIVE.

I guess the 360 purists have nothing going for them now http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif Server merge imminent?

But I can get why they don't want to rollback. This glitch has been around for longer than a week so a week's worth of a rollback wouldn't exactly fix everything.

I'm sure they're not just banning anyone, all they probably have to look at is suspicious player data that wouldn't normally be there.

And seriously, everyone..I'm pretty sure an admin already said that there will not be a rollback, so I would stop worrying about it now. It's safe to say a rollback won't occur unless something catastrophic happens or a problem that is fixed within a day so that no one loses over a day's worth of playing time.

You so don't want that. Not with the robot bug and stuff unresolved. You'll get silly people trying to invoke the memory-leak slowdown just to crash everybody else's machine. (You know, there's a good chance, that if a slowdown person joins your party, the game has problems syncing what's happening and can crash the people who are still going full speed. I've seen it happen, with 4 or 5 witnesses.)

So yeah, you do not want the robot bug in existance if a merge was to happen.
