View Full Version : No update for 360 users today........

http://www.phantasystaruniverse.com/news_item.php?item=nid29

We regretably were forced to postpone the Xbox 360 Title Update as well as new content delivery for today because we found an unexpected bug in Title update relating issue.

We apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment this postponment has caused, but the Title Update was necessary for new content delivery. We will be announcing the new delivery date as soon as it is possible.

Thank you for understanding.

Yeah. There was a post on this earlier, but it got moved to rants since it got full of people complaining. But as long as we get the update and stay on schedule with PC/PS2 I'm going to be ok with waiting.

Calm yourselves. They seem to have a lot on their plate ATM. They're dealing with banning ppl, making SURE the mechgun glitch is truly fixed this time around, etc.

This isn't just a simple event update. They mentioned that we'd have to install a patch and will forever see it listed on our titles screen. In the mean time, just go enjoy the extended winter event. It's not gonna be there for long, and you're gonna notice what it's like to see 0-1 star drop rates again.

I'm perfectly calm. Heck, this is one of those signs that ST isn't just willing to throw out whatever not-well-tested code they have. Taking it back to a drawing board for a little more fix and testing is better than we had for a few updates. It shows that they're willing to do the extra work.

On the other hand, maybe I will get a chance to max out my primary's character level before the event is over.

Possibly. But I think the biggest issue with Episode 1 & 2 was the great feature of Split screen 4 player, and the ability to take your character on memory cards to play on other systems. When you have friends who love PSO, many never felt you needed a hunter's license. They lost quite a few people due to that aspect.

The Eternal Christmas was crazy. But I don't remember PSO really getting any true updates that weren't mainly satisfied by having PSO 1 & 2, already.

It shows that they're willing to do the extra work???!!!

Why oh why would they announce that things are going to be fixed and that we are getting an update only to redact everything at zero hour? Doesn't sound like they did the "extra work" to me. Sounds like they don't know what they are doing over there. Much like leaving the HIVE test mission online a month ago and being considerably slow to react to cheating (people were doing the grinder glitch LONG before they said anything about it, not to mention the MG glitch that was supposed to have been fixed). I won't even bring up their lack of communication they have with their game's monthly subscribers.

I feel this is an abomination and only goes to further my lack of faith in STs ability to manage their own game (which isn't even that popular! I mean, imagine if this game had a huge following like WoW!)

First of all both the North American and Japanese testers checked the Title Update thoroughly over the last month on partnernet. The issues appeared only when it was put on Xbox live. This is the way online content is tested for the Xbox 360. The problem is both technical and political and we do not have the power to force MS to change their bureaucracy.

We have been told by Sonic Team that they have pushed MS to get the delayed Title Update approved for next weeks maintenance. When I get an updated schedule I will let you know if you will also be getting the Valentines content, as we want to get caught up to our schedule as soon as possible.

You have GOT to be kidding me! They didn't learn anything about the MS "bureaucracy" the last time this happened (when it took them 2 months to get us the "deaths don't affect your rank" update that PC/PS2 users received)? They've been working on this for a month and just now found out that it's not compatible with Xbox live? What a bunch of bullshit.

That is pretty much what it sounds like to me as well. I guess MS just gives them limited use of LIVE, if any, for content until it is meant to be released.

Also sounds like, if we don't get the Valentine's Day lobby next week, we might get it during a week that PC/PS2 just has maintenance, since it doesn't sound like they want to de-sync the update schedule much.

It sounds like that is what they are saying, but I would assume that MS wouldn't be so stringent as to not let publishers test things out on the Live server before allowing it. It would be unreasonable to assume that MS needs to give approval to every patch, yet won't let publishers test said patch in a Live environment. If this were the case, how could a publisher EVER be assured that the work they did to create content or a patch would be compatible?? It would seem very inefficient to expect all publishers to know exactly what will work and what won't. My suspicion is that the programers at Sega submitted their patch without proper testing and MS found a problem with it.

I, for one, was sick of the Winter Event when the Beta came out. And they said they'll "try" to have the patch ready for next week's maintenance. Which, in non-corporate language, means that we're likely screwed because of how slowly Sega seems to have their patches go through Certification.

Not to mention they should have tested its compatibility with Live beforehand, instead of assuming they were competent enough to do it right the first time.

I swear Sega has more problems with "Microsoft certification" than every other publisher and developer on the planet combined.

The current Sonic Team is an embarrassment to the legacy of their name.

Lucky for them I have too much time invested into PSU to quit right now, and I still enjoy the game enough to keep playing it, but there's almost no chance that I'll ever buy another Phantasy Star Online game again.

Patches and arcade games get tested on PartnerNet which is an alternate Xbox Live network that only devs have access too. Sega is saying it worked on PartnerNet, but didn't work on the real Live servers.

You guys get an event with dfajkdfla EXP to lvl your alts.

Next week you guys will be up to par with the rest of us. So whats the problem?

And maybe if your community wasn't full of glitch kiddies, you wouldn't have this "problem". Now who has the unstable economy?

The event was great, but we were all looking forward to the new content.

Next week at the LEAST. And the problem is that ST can't seem to get it right for the 360 community.

Your community was full of glitchers WAY before ours was. Only reason it's more of an issue on the 360 is that the PC/PS2 servers are ghost towns. Our economy is still stable, BTW.

The 360's economy hasn't changed at all as far as I can tell. Sorry, PC/PS2... we're still better.
