I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly...

I sent a message to another time
But as the days unwind, this I just can't believe
I sent a note across another plane
Maybe it's all a game, but this I just can't conceive.

Can you hear me?

I drive the very latest hovercar
I don't know where you are
But I miss you so much till then
I met someone who looks a lot like you
She does the things you do
But she is an IBM.

2095, 2095, 2095, 2095
I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly...

She's only programmed to be very nice
But she's as cold as ice
Whenever I get too near
She tells me that she likes me very much
But when I try to touch
She makes it all too clear.

She is the latest in technology
Almost mythology
But she has a heart stone
She has an I.Q. of 1001
She has a jumpsuit on
And she's also a telephone.

2095, 2095, 2095, 2095
I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly

refrain:
Is that what you want? (Is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want? (Is it what you really want?)
Is that what you want? (Is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want?

I realize that it must seem so strange
That time has rearranged
But time has the final word
She knows I think of you, she reads my mind
She tries to be unkind
She knows nothing of our world

Although her memory banks overflow
No one would ever know
For all she says: "Is that what you want?"
Maybe one day I'll feel her cold embrace
And kiss her interface
'Til then, I'll leave her alone.

I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly...

I'm not sure what's going on in this topic, but it seems opinions on which females are best are relevant here, so I shall say it is clearly caseals. They can be built to your measurements, they double as a wifi hotspot, and their actions are driven by logic. Not accountability though. I mean, come now, that'd just be a man in drag if you threw that in.

Can't help it if Danger Girl looks good holding a set of blades.

Truth be told, she does pretty well in any setting. My alt is a beast fortefighter of around the same level. Obviously the beast can dish out a lot more than the newman, but I still find myself favoring the newman wartecher. If there was "no fun to playing something weaker," then everyone would be playing a beast fortefighter.

This.

Compare...say...Newearl FF damage to...for example...

One of the often-vilified "Acrowhipper" Acrotechers, who do nothing but ribbon-dance and die, never casting a support tech.

The FF's going to do about a thousand times better. Might not be "as much" as a Beast FF, but it's better than some of the other options.

Or, since "DPS" and "killing speed" seem to be such a big deal, think about this.

If you're running under a time limit, you're probably doing story mode. Compare that Newman FF to Laia, and see who does better. >_>

However, beasts do have the advantage of being able to self clean pretty much anywhere, anytime. They have very coarse tongues. I was at the hotspring the other day, and asked a cute beast gal next to me to scrub my back...

Newman hunters are fine. I'm making my Newman a hunter. Its so fascinating to see a tall, exotic, elf swinging a sword. Or axe. Claws are smexy too.

However, they really need to balance this game so you can be ANY racial combination you want, with little drawbacks. But I think we know how ST is with balance. x_x;

As for melee Newmans... Yeah, I abandoned a L130 character.

He was a Newman Fighgunner.

My L102 Beast Fighgunner has more ATP than said Newman had on the occasions when I switched him over to Fortefighter.

My L102 Beast Fighgunner was created specifically to replace said useless Newman.

Also humans FTW. No stupid elf ears.

And goddamn it, beasts are not *dogs*! Look at our freaking Nanoblasts! We're cats. Big fucking cats. Humanoid LIONS. KINGS AND QUEENS OF THE JUNGLE. BOW BEFORE OUR MIGHT AND WE MIGHT LET YOU PLAY WITH OUR TAILS.

I don't consider newmen as elves. I consider them as mutated humanoid rabbits as a result of many years of humans propagating with rabbits from the moon. Why do you suppose the moon festival is important in Neudaiz?

On the other hand, I think the ears serve as antenna for receiving photon energy signals. It explains why newmen are more attune to photon energy and have higher TP and MST. Humans don't have those ears, Beasts ears vary too much in shape and size, and Casts lack the spiritual affinity to fully utilize their own antenna in the same way. Although, Casts' antennas can pick up other signals like wifi and radio, so they just need external monitors and speakers to enjoy being a walking entertainment system.

Edit:

I'd rather not get bogged down in classifying ears that could belong to any creature. For all we know, the shapes of those ears could very well be mutated forms of cats, dogs, rodents or other furry land mammals. Let's just focus on how cute and fluffy they are to pet and enjoy.

Akaimizu

Ok. Then that's easy. Mufonna is very cute and very fluffy. She really takes good care of herself. Not without comments from her roommate, Tynselle, of course. A roommate, who still can't believe this beast woman yearned to be a Fortefighter.

But on the actual topic. Seeing Newman do well for themselves as fighter classes supports my theory that anybody can throw down as a ForteFighter, Wartecher, etc. Especially at the character levels we are at, now.

I love how this thread likes to switch tracks so often. Now it seems like we're describing how fluffy and cute our beasts are, along with other mannerisms and such.

Mine just likes to sit around and drink, and has a little bit of a gambling problem. On occasion she'll go out and find the biggest thing she can smack, scratch, claw, slash, beatdown, and otherwise harass for fun. She's very patient and passive for a beast otherwise, but that's probably because she prefers to stay around in Neudaiz. You know, with the relaxing scenery and local hot spring, it really helps calm oneself. She was a lot paler than her current picture, but recent trips to Parum's Paracabana Coast, and the Casino really exposed her to the sun more often.

Mireille is... much like her namesake.
Short, hyper, always on the lookout for the next rare item, and obsessed with shiny, collectible things. Spends a lot of time at the console of her room shop, keeping an eye out for the next deal, or out explaining the finer points of her weaponry to bosses in the hopes that they might decide she requires more, mainly so that she'll stop hitting them. Changes clothes and hairstyle on the slightest whim, sometimes daily.

I use Teika more than any of my other characters now (started to use her more than my Beast fF http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif ) She's Acrofighter, Fortefighter and Fighgunner.

ATP isn't an issue whatsoever. I'm still hitting 3k with Spinning Strike, and especially with aF's speed boost, I can solo S2 missions fine. I don't get as owned by Techs either http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif Really fun to play, and I can easily see her becoming main (as she was in PSO).

Compared to my Beast fF, Teika is pretty underpowered, but part of that is because of how horrendously overpowered Beast fFs are now (1700 ATP? Is there any need? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif )

I saw a couple of melee Newmans at the Newman Knights event, which was nice. I think I saw Danger Girl there briefly, before everyone got lost in a haze of Fortetechers/Acrotechers.

Anyway, to sum it up. Newmans can melee, and can solo S2 fine doing it. Just pay attention to your equipment (higher % weapons, generally), and watch your HP a little more.

Alizarin
Feb 4, 2008, 01:34 PM
I usually saw melee-oriented Newman, especially Acrofighters, more akin to "rogue"-types from other games. Newman EVP is relatively high, and while that isn't ideal for full frontal-assault fighter types, it does apply to more evasive, mobile rogue-types.

Though, this might mainly apply to Newmen that are Wartechers, Acrofighters or Fighgunners. I noticed EVP takes a nosedive when switching to Fortefighter.

Regardless, melee for newman is still a viable option, especially since right now I'm leveling Dagger/Twin Dagger PAs, as a Wartecher. >>

Yeah, pretty much. I've seen loads of people say the EVP is useless, but with Teika as aF (1100EVP with armour bonuses, not counting Zodiarides), I block a good deal of hits. What I will say though, is that my armours are all GRM/Yohmei, with the lone exception of Rabol Rappy. With Tenora armour, my EVP would be even higher. Only reason I don't use Tenoras much is because of the general lack of an Extra slot.

When you start blocking frequently, more gameplay options open up. Newman aF is the only character I have where I can reliably use Just Counter whenever I get hit. Plus, aF attack speed makes it so that if I do need to back off, I can finish an attack a little quicker, and get the hell out to heal before I get pummelled into submission http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

For me, EVP is a life-saver when it comes to going up against heavy hitters like bosses. There were quite a few times where it saved me from death because it blocked three times in a row (like for example, when Magas does his sword slam + rushing thrust).

Also, even though current actions get interrupted by blocking, Just Counter allowed me enough of a window to cast resta while being pelted by the Grinna Bete C Machine Gun spam, that or blocked enough hits to buy time to down a mate.

EVP can be your best friend when being one-shotted is just a matter of when the boss looks in your general direction.

Akaimizu
Feb 4, 2008, 01:54 PM
I definitely know that one. It's at times like that I really wish Guntechers got more EVP. I might try Tenora for that reason only because while the Extra Slot is useful, I have to weigh which aspect is more important. It's tough, though. I almost always have to give up something just as important as the thing I go for. Not much in armors allow a good compromise, for me.

Retniwreven
Feb 4, 2008, 02:06 PM
When playing a class like FF that has loads of defense and HP, I try for as little EVP as possible, because all it does is slow me down, and very, very rarely can anything come close to one shotting me. However, when on a class with little HP, I'll try for as much EVP as possible. Blocking Maggas' sword swing 2/3 times with a FT is a lifesaver.

Funny you say that. When I started the game, my friend/sidekick/lackey was making a newman techer, so as a good pair I naturally chose beast fF as my main. But I also wanted to recreate Danger Girl, who was my main from PSO. She had been a hunewearl, so being a pure force just really didn't fit in with her theme. Despite the racial disadvantage I decided to try and make her melee oriented. Anyway, as it turned out Danger Girl hit level 100 when my "main" was still level 70 with almost half the playtime...

Needless to say, she's become my main.

I used the event to get my beast fF caught up in levels, but now that the event is over I'm finding myself playing the newman wartecher again. The damage output isn't even close, but what can I say? I'm a sucker for pointy newman ears. The damage isn't what the fFer's is, but it's good enough. It's also kind of annoying when my beast female goes into heat. It's embarrassing when she starts rubbing up against and drooling all over team members and stuff in the middle of a mission. Especially when they're complete strangers.

Maggas is the last of the tough bosses. There's at least 2 classes they can one shot kill at high level, and I'm playing one of them. However, most of his stuff isn't deadly to the high level, just his sword. The worst danger is still his combo of chase you down and doing the 360 sword attack. Seems to happen more often if you're soloing him and/or unlucky.

If there's one dragon I truly pity, from day one, is the Lightning Dragon.

That poor beast became the boss all those mean bully guardians picked on, since they had access to that level. Whenever I see him, it's like I'm beating on a poor defenseless Eeyor(sp?) who already half gave up on life or something. And it takes ALOT for Tynselle to feel sorry for any monster in this game. Mufonna gets so little resistance from that boss, she's never really driven to nanoblast on him; which doesn't help, because she feels nothing but remorse then.

I hope you guys get your tough fights. Poor attractive Newman/ Beast women getting knocked up around by evil seed monsters and huge tough robots. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
I'd like to note that despite being around five feet tall, if not less, Mireille could break you in half with her bare hands. She is a beast woman, after all, and they are the best.

side note:
I liked how (on a lv 110 F Newm WT10) lv 30 vivi danga + 46% dark vish Tien + lv 20 shifta = 800+ per hit (2nd 1/2 of PA) on lv 100+ kakwane
can anyone tell me the numbers a Male Beast WT can pull with a similar setup?

Male Beast WT 120/15 + lvl 30 vivi danga + lvl 20 shifta + 30% dark vish tien:

1150 on normal 2nd hit, 1750 just attacked.

Since vish tien does more damage the lower your hp, here are the numbers with HP in the yellow:
1330 normal, ~2000 just attacked.
