Any of them.
Hence the "random".

ahh

it would seem a little weird doing the caves to a forest wiithout any sort of segway

That brings up an interesting thought...would the forest appear at a counter that does not normally have active missions? If you complete Awoken Serpent and go back to the counter from the casino is there a chance to see it? That would be mighty tricky, but it seems possible..

Supposedly NA/EU gets it this week, along with Awoken Serpent, and a few other, S2, and of course the Valentine's Lobby (Rappy Amure will give me that damn Love Bow!)

1- We get the mission this week.
2- No.
3- It was released JP-side afterwards, yes.

Just wondering, do you have to actually FINISH a mission to get the forest in the lobby or is it just there randomly, because if u have to actually finish it serpent isnt going to help at all because u usually abandon at the end.

Finish a moatoob mission and go to the lobby. When there, disband the party and have each member check every counter. Everyone has a chance of the mission appearing for them at any counter, if one person gets lucky enough to have it appear for them, regroup and make that person the leader.

Then start the mission.

It's very rare to see from what I know.

but can they leave the counter to reform the party and still have the mission there, cause from what i remeber you cant accept party invites in the counter.

so true..

Feb 4, 2008, 06:12 PM
Let me get this straight.

1) 6 of us finish De Rol Le.
2) 6 of us split up to do another De Rol Le. ONE of us will have the Rare Map

This person who starts the mission - if people join after the mission starts the other 5 get A rank only...

Question is - could this person find out they have the rare map - go outside without starting, get the other 5, then start again?
-I.E. did this person miss his chance to start the rare map if he leaves the counter to call his friends to join then start again?

Dein
Feb 4, 2008, 06:23 PM
For the people confused about splitting up to find the mission it works like this: Your group that just finished a mission splits up and looks at any counter that normally has missions available (those are the only ones it'll show up to my knowledge). When someone finds they have the mission they must "tag" the mission before leaving the counter which means they have to select it up to the point where they'll see the option to start the mission before they head back out to inform the other members, otherwise they'll lose the mission if they leave the counter. Then it's just a matter of having the person who's tagged the mission reform the group as the leader and start it up.

Also, you'll want to finish De Rol Le's mission if you're looking for the forest. After you've completed the mission and get put inside of the Casino you can go back to town and the Flyer Base counter can have the forest mission up just like any other counter.

MayLee
Feb 4, 2008, 07:59 PM
Yeah the mission is basically a phantom mission, it just shows up whenever you beat a moatoob mission but the thing is, you'd have to check all counter on moatoob.

I can see people running Matoob C missions over and over in order to get it. I can also see people finding the mission and not locking their parties and people joining their parties because they see them playing the rare mission.

I ca also see people booting others when they find the rare mission.

The situation is

The chance won't lose until the person join another mission.

That means no matter you got disconnected, changing server or going home, you still got the chance once it is drawn.

However, the rare mission does not allow people to join after starts. Therefore please form the party before start it.

In addition, at least 4 members is required for opening some gates. (Rare comes there)

Sinue_v2
Feb 4, 2008, 09:27 PM
Is the trigger actually completing a mission, or is it just a random? Can you just go back and forth from the city to a field lobby (via PPT caseal) for 200 meseta to get the mission?

beatrixkiddo
Feb 4, 2008, 09:31 PM
Completing a mission. So what you'd wanna do this next week, while we have Guardians Boost Road, is to start at the first mission. Complete that with your group of people, move to the next lobby, and disband. Everyone checks the next mission's counter to see if they got the rare mission. If they have it, they should pick it like they were going to start it, but stop JUST short of launching it, and go out to the lobby and invite everyone else. Then do it. If nobody gets the mission, group back up, finish the next mission of the GBR route, and repeat at the next lobby.

What makes the MOST sense is to complete Desert Terror or Mine Recovery with a group because Galenigare Lake has two active counters one for Rogues Shortcut and one for Desert Goliath!! That would be twice the chances for forest yea??

beatrixkiddo
Feb 4, 2008, 10:48 PM
I'm pretty sure that it'll show up at any counter. So you won't need to check multiple counters... if it shows up, you have it. If it doesn't, you don't have it.

There's also an inactive counter that you can check. The door you come through after Mine Defense. Doing Mine Defense C seems like the best option since you can finish the mission in about 5 minutes (you can skip most of the enemies in this mission), but it's not part of boost road since they want you to go the desert path.

The nice thing is Mine Defense has 3 different locations that drop Spicia. The desert path only drops burning spicia.

all I have to say is...
If getting rares isn't random enough... On top of that they put up a randomly occurring mission
SO NOW,
Random chance to get the mission
Random chance for an item to drop
Random chance of it going to you
Random chance of completing the synth
and if melee, random chance of a good percent
THEN, random chance of a good grind

HURRAY FOR PSU AND EVERYTHING BEING RANDOM! lol
god, you have to love how random this game is, seriously, not joking, it's funny

aka according to psupedia
any normal box can drop
Huge Cutter
Mugunruk
Crimson
Deva-zashi
Fuka-Misaki
Vish Adan

and the end boxes can drop
(Al Tip)
(Al Tippies)
Al-senba
Orpa / Force
(Red / Force)

A good read for reasons of random in videogames (especially MMO): http://www.nickyee.com/eqt/skinner.html

In a nutshell: Random make things exciting.

Alizarin
Feb 5, 2008, 04:52 PM
Certainly explains the countless attempts of trying, abandoning and retrying of a single mission because of a gosh-forsaken beetle. Argh.

Doh42
Feb 5, 2008, 04:57 PM
Heh, part of you hates it, but in the end, you're still doing it, aren't you?

Alizarin
Feb 5, 2008, 05:18 PM
I hate not getting the beetle, but I set fixed ratios of runs so I don't go insane. Like for example... doing 5 runs and only counting those that had accessible boxes in the beginning as actual "runs". I just learned about behavioral studies in class too, so it really makes me more self-aware of it.

... though yes, I'm still running it. Over and over and over and over again... with only a Tornado Throw, Stag Beetle and Caitlium to show for it.

At the very least, the random aspects of the upcoming missions will be more exciting and hopefully more rewarding.
