Well, I had meant to run Ronin through with it, then run away and detonate it in revenge for eating that slice of pie, but since you took it...

Duct tape, for taping ducts, not ducks.

You can't stab with a butcher knife. >_>

Well, now that I think about it, you could, but it would take an unreasonable amount of effort.

I wonder how many rolls of duct tape is required to cover one cousion. Probably just one, but damn that's a lot of duct tape.

True, but does it have a cute duck with a painter's hat on the wrapper?

Actually, to call it "duct" tape is erroneous. Originally, it was, in fact, called "duck" tape. The stuff was designed by the military with the specific intent of water-sealing First-Aid Kits. They called it "duck" tape as a comparison to water off a duck's back.

Truth be told, I don't think I've ever seen it used in duct work. That stuff is usually riveted together, and under the circumstances that tape is necessary, there's far better stuff to do the job than duck tape.

The following comes from the esteemed Oxford English Dictionary:

duck, n.3
1. A strong untwilled linen (or later, cotton) fabric, lighter and finer than canvas; used for small sails and men's (esp. sailors') outer clothing.

>duck tape n. a strong adhesive tape made of waterproofed cotton fabric (a proprietary name in the United States)
>>first citation in print: 1902 (however, it should be noted that this citation does not appear to refer to the "duck/duct tape" we know today)

duct, n.

>duct tape [perh. an alteration of earlier duck tape n. at DUCK n.3] orig. N. Amer. a strong cloth-backed waterproof adhesive tape, originally used for sealing joints in heating and ventilation ducts, and (later) for holding electrical cables securely in place, now in widespread general use esp. to repair, secure, or connect a range of appliances, fixtures, and equipment; cf. gaffer tape n. at GAFFER n.
>>first citation in print: 1965

It appears the controversy continues.

Guy @ my HS got a free scholarship for wearing a duct tape tux to prom. Plus duct tape is pretty strong body armor.

Smarts.
