Is there any cheat device for it?.. any in development...?...i haven't heard about anytihng like that for the x-box.. if so then that gives an entire new reason for wanting the x-box version

I'm just gonna repeat what I said in a previous cheat post:

As for Xbox PSO, if you haven't actually sat down and modded an Xbox and hacked it, just let me assure you that it's very easy (Seeing as I've done 6 for the company I work for). And as Sol-Invictus said, disabling the Modchip is as easy as flipping a switch. Turn it off to go on Xbox Live, turn it on to play Backups/Homebrew.

What some people don't realize is what you can do with the Modchip. You actually can FTP into the Xbox and access all of the Save Files which are all in Hexidecimal. Any good HEX/ASM hacker should be able to crack any PSO save and start tinkering with items and attributes they're not supposed to.

In the Xbox version, you're not only gonna see dupes, but weapons which have insane percentages and even items which people don't earn through duping, but just hacking the save file. The Xbox's will not be safe. Stick with the Gamecube version and even though GameShark may be coming out soon, I'm betting it'll be very difficult to find codes which create weapons with insane percentages.

It all depends on how much work the people with modded Xboxes put into duping.

On the 1 hand it'll be really simple for them to go in and give themselves basically whatever they want and distribute it. This doesn't include any other methods of duping in the Xbox PSO that may be discovered once it's released.

So if they wanted, they could flood the Xbox servers with duped Dark Bridges +whatever and full percentages the day the game comes out if they find where the weapon data is that fast.

On the other hand, there is not and pretty much can never be any kind of Gameshark or other cheat device for the Xbox, so people who would normally cheat that way, wont be able to. Like I said, it's all up to the people with modded Xboxes.

Why are you saying there could never be a gameshark like device for the x-box? Heck....for the x-box it would be easier to make as they use standard DVD technology for thier CD's. You'll prolly see a Gameshark device for it that's much like the Playstation one. which is a CD/Memory card plug in.

For a gameshark to work on the Xbox (or any other kind of software or hardware without using a mod chip for that matter), the Xbox public key would have to be a) be handed out by MS, or b)cracked. The first one is probably never going to happen because Microsoft probably doesn't want any cheat device on their system due to Xbox live. Cracking the key would have shaky legal ground. Assuming anyone wants to do it, I'll give you the short summary of some friends of mine.

Now, using distributed computing, it took 5 years for people to crach the the RSA-56 Bit challenge and they had advanced knowledge of what they were looking for. Microsoft's key is supposedly something like RSA-576 bit. The RSA-56 bit challenge had over 300,000 people working on it. It's unrealistic to believe that the key will be cracked any time in the next several years.

Wow it is true Xbox is the worst thing ever made and yes it will be easy to hack it because it is a computer.

The Xbox Key is actually a RSA-2048 bit key and the guys over at The Neo Project (I'm not providing links) already have a distributed client working on breaking the key. They know how slim the chance is, BUT they know there is a chance and that's what they're hoping will happen.

They've already gone through the hurdles of reverse-engineering and the DMCA and know that that their client is not illegal... At least until Microsoft intervenes.

What makes you guys think that cheating will be so rampant?

First of all, lets just say that an Xbox is modded and is capable it changing stats, item duping, etc. Ok fine. But you guys are missing one thing:

Each live account is tied to a credit card number. There is no way to log into live as an anonymous user.

Second the feedback system. All comments stay with an account.

So cheat at your own risk...

Let's just put it this way, whatever ST does cheaters and hackers find there way around it.

Simple as that.

Yes, but if you have hacked items, you're not gonna get banned instantly. What if you take a hacked item into a game, drop it for someone and they pick it up, not knowing it's hacked. Do you ban them as well?? If you did, M$ would have alot of pissed customers at them and they can't afford that with the huge losses they're already taking.

Look at all the cheaters in the GC PSO and even the DC PSO's. They're tied to Credit Card Numbers also, but you don't see them getting banned.

Suposing the situation you've just stated, the person that was identified with a modded Xbox would be banned but not the other person DUH. And what if some people actually get to dupe? It'd probably won't be that many anyway. In GC there were so many cause little brats would just go to a website and get thte codes : P Here people would have to get their Xbox modded, know programming, risk getting online and dupe and a couple of people will have dupes maybe and then the person would probably be banned. Of course it won't be impossible, but I don't think it'll be half as serious as many of you state it will be. Meh~ I'll just be playing with people I know so it doesn't affect me too much http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

The Xbox may be easy to hack, but Xbox Live will not. IF you are caught cheating you're account will be banned. If anyone else know more please tell me. I don't know much else about Xbox PSO.

You're missing the whole point about Modding and Xbox Live. Modders DISABLE the modchip when going onto Xbox Live, therefore it's never detected and they don't get banned. It's like their Xbox has never been touched. Even if the person does get banned, it only bans their encrypted ID that's in the Xbox and there's already Xbox Homebrew Software that allows you to view your key and change it, so even if it does get banned, you just get a new ID and your back online.

Yes, you'll have to know about hex editing, but if people did it on the Dreamcast, then they sure as hell can do it on the Xbox.

My Xbox is modded and I have an external switch that allows me to turn off the modchip. I could take it offline, hack my items with the modchip on. Turn off the modchip, get onto Xbox live and trade/give people my newly hacked/duped items.

I mean how many Xbox's have you actually modded/hacked and seen how easy it is to crack into the system/save files??

your overlooking the most important fact of the little cheaters on pso..... There all dumb lil kids that only know, "hey lets me put this number/ letter here!" i bet you the box version will prolly be the least hacked because of that fact up there. sure there will be hackers but hey cant win em all u know

Duping in GC is a fairly complicated process and I doubt that every kiddie with duped weapons duped them on their own. They probably got it from one of the dupers who are mass duping and distributing.

Xbox dupers will be able to do this faster and more efficiently meaning they'll be putting more dupes in the hands of more players.
