Well, sure, a grenade would get rid of the one or two guards blocking your path. Then the noise from the blast would attract twice that number (or more).

Side story:
No blood, but do that in 007 Goldeneye.
I totally forgot which level, but if you were invisible and in slo-mo, you could throw a mine(the one you trigger) onto the guards helmet(s) and against the walls.
Step back, press t3h button, and enjoy the pain,fireworks, and slow-motion (captured) deaths.
Also a level where you go to the top of the stairs near the end(it's the one with the gas tanks, kill the guy you're meeting) make sure infinite ammo is on, and blast away at an onslaught of enemies that never ends.
Seriously, My bro and I did that for half an hour one time. Threw a line of motion sensor mines on the ground, and dared 'em to cross it. >:)

Edit: I'm pretty sure the first one was indoors, or something. That's all I remember, it was my brother's game.
