You can use pre-paid debit cards. Check grocery stores and banks for them.

It acts just like a credit card. It's basically just a gift card made by a credit card company (like Visa or Mastercard). Unless he's talking about things like the Green Dot card, which is basically like a reloadable Credit Card that is only linked to how much cash you put in it, kinda like a digital bank account.
