View Full Version : Why can't Arcotecher use bows?

magicman34
Feb 12, 2008, 11:46 AM
Protransers had to have force to level 5, people said this was in order for them to use bows. So why can't Acrotechers use bows??

I have a female newman FT who usually has a palette of wands and madoogs, with the final slot being switched between a buffing rod or bow. I wanted to make her an Acrotecher but this means I can no longer use a bow, WHY SEGA????

I'd much rather have a bow than twin handguns, mechgun or shadoog.

Should Acrotechers Get Bows (S rank too)

No. Want to use bow? Go fT, WT, or PT.

Acros are meant to specialize in one handed weapons
This also give them access to twin weapons like twin daggers and twin handguns.
but not a single two handed weapon.

As Leahcim stated, One-handed specialist. All of their weapons can be held in one hand.
Besides, Acro's are a little over-the-top already imo >___>
So I definitely voted no...
EDIT: And the fact you want them S-rank too is insane D:

If we specialize in one handed weapons, then why don't we get slicers, claws and crossbows also twin claws and twin sabers??

Bows aren't bad weapons but twin handguns are better. They're more damaging and more mobile. The Acro classes are meant to be agile, that's why large bulky bows wouldn't be a good choice for them. If you really want bows, pick another class, otherwise you're out of luck! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

If you're referring to your Acrotecher not having those weapons, it's because they're acrobatic TECHERS.
You got S-rank whips, Sabers, and Daggers. Your ATP is good enough to use them decently combined with your technique abilities. You get Twin Handguns for range, I seriously don't know what more you can ask for from the Acro classes >___>

Just because someone suffers from dyslexia it's a reason for everyone to get rude and nasty, when something seems amiss.

Thanks MegamanX, I always saw arco not acro, but your explanation now lets me see Acrobatic/techer - Acrotecher and makes more sense.

Maybe we should have the crossbow instead of the twin guns.

Crossbows can't be aimed up. Using a handgun with level 20 bullets to try and take out Dimma or Onma would be a PITA without a fortefighter's extra power.

Yeah if AT had Crossbows instead of Twin Handguns... it would be up to either a Handgun or Noszonde (now I actually prefer using Noszonde on Dimma... but it's much more worth it on an FT)

Downgrade from twin handgun to single when you need to aim into the air... in exchange for a 2-bullet SE2 crossbow? That's a major class-downgrade.

Genoa
Feb 12, 2008, 02:31 PM
A thing people miss when comparing AT to FT is that certain techniques are pretty much exclusively better for FT. Nos and Damu techniques are a million times better seeing after you do the cast animation, the rest of the technique has a set time for any techer. But when you add the Rod bonus...

But Acrotechers are still pretty nice for their versatility and support. Faster resta and buffs plz :3

No BOW. Its too much already.

Acrotecher already has;

1) upgraded melee speed - which makes ZERO sense cause TECH is AT main attack - not WHIPS.
2) Upgraded TECH speed - throwing 3 Rabarta is 9 chances to freeze etc etc...

3) Machine gun - i love machine guns for their huge DPS and speed runs.
4) Card Fan - some Guntechers use cards as their primary damage dealer.

5) TRAPS - people forget AT can use TRAPS. a Bow level 4 status is too slow compared to a nice TRAP.
6) DUAL PISTOLS - as if AT didn't already have everything they get the most useful gun in the game. Strafe, aerial targeting, fast shooting, and large PP storage. I know some FIGUNNERS who use doubles and Dualies only....

and GT are not a dying breed - just take a fortegunner who wants to use RESTA and turn them into a Guntecher. I personally know a full time Beast Gt, part time Newman GT, most of the time Cast GT and me a dedicated human GT

Because you're an acroTECHER. Techers dont get melee weps like that, except WT. WARtecher. So if you want unbalanced classes, go offline, or if you want everything that you want online, go WT. 'nuff said.

I'm a part time Newman GT, and I would have to say that the Bow is one of my best friends (Well, even when I'm an fT, especially against flying bosses and Fakis 1). Hell I find being a GT more fun and effective a lot of times over being a fG or fT, I'm nigh invincible with my mix of support and long range combat! As a GT I'm like this ---> http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_quickdraw.gif
But yeah more on topic, as it has been stated before Bows are just too immobile of a weapon for ATs.

Wait!

this hasn't been said yet... why do you play a Fortetecher with no rods except for a buff rod?
Now that rods have been boosted, I really don't see why you wouldn't use them. It sounds like you have your palette set up with that of a War or Guntecher, not a fortetecher.

Certainly classes are made to use certain weapons etc, and acrotecher just wouldn't make sense with a bow.

Acrotecher traps ... meh
Silence or Confuse at best, MAYBE shock... but what lives long enough to use those anymore =/ . The Acro classes can both use traps, however, the techer gets the Non-damage status effect traps, while the fighter gets the DoT only status effect traps.

What lives long enough to use traps, and isn't immune to silence/shock/confuse? ... that's more like it. A spawn of Crown Deljabans, if one exists anywhere. Grove robots, you could get mileage out of both shock and confuse.

Protranser EX traps are really the ones worth anything now. I'm so glad ST added those for that job. Freeze EX lets your team murder large monsters in record time, and the continual damage + SE on any of them is so good they're worth using recreationally even if it doesn't really make a huge difference in combat.

Acro = mobile classes.
I also thought acroTechers DON'T have access to bows cause bows are mostly for back row (long distant) players. And since AT gets plenty of melee weapons + support specialist + HP, they're mainly mid/close range classes (along with WT).

FT / GT could be used as support from the back cause of their HP and weapon palette.
At least, that's how I saw it.

Because then you'd be stealing other class roles, like Fighgunner, Wartecher, and Acrofighter. You already got S rank whip even though WT is the one with 30 skills, what more do you want? Let us keep the bows and claws. If AT gets S bow, then I demand WT gets S bow, S whip, S sword, S twin sabers, S saber, S madoog, S shadoog, level 40 attack techs, level 40 support techs, and a "drop the item I want" button. =.=

IF AT got bows just because they had force levels, then give PT's techs. Just because you level part of a class doesnt mean you get everything from it, with hybrids you only take sections that fit into their purpose

It's easy to come to the conclusion that most of you don't think at all. 'The class I'm using should have every weapon because I say so.'

No matter what you say, no matter what you imagine, chances are, it's not going to happen in the first place. I don't see the point of these 'X CLASS SHOULD GET X WEAPONS' topics other than for whining, and bait for derailing and flaming.

mvffin

what they need is more classes with more weapon selections. I want to use Xbow, Bow, Card, Slicer, Dagger, and Rods all S rank. what.

Maybe a Custom Class, where you can pick 3-4 S rank and 2-3 A rank weapons for your selections. and name the class too. that would be fo shizzle.

I've got an even better idea! How about we just go back to having 3 classes, and then remove all the different worlds and replace them with 4 zones and 4 bosses. Then we can also get rid of PAs while we are at it, all the clothes, and half the weapon types. Just let everyone use anything, and generally make the game boring!

Oh wait, they already did that before, it was PSO. Basically if you ain't happy with that fact that you are given so many choices, go play another freakin game! I mean jesus, all people do is bloody complain on this game! Sega have bent over backwards to make this game easy for all you noobs but you STILL want s-rank bows for one of the most spoiled classes in the game? Get a life! The whole point of having so many classes is VARIETY, but you just want everything to be the same, bland and boring. *walks off continuing rant to self*

acrotecher is ment for support, and ppl still manage to not support with that class if bows are given then that just help that along. i would perfer not giving them bows, if you wanna use S rank bows and not be as weak as a FT then i suggest you go GT.

Speaking as a wartecher, I said you suck as arcotecher.

give them even more that sounds a little broken to me. You are a techer not a ranger. If you dont like the class than change. I play protranser, the bow is a great weapon a nearly do 1000 a hit no crits. You dont here me complaining that we dont have more tech power, any of the new weapons types they released with the expansion, or wands for those 5 force levels we have to get to. No I play the class I like. You could always play guntecher or wartecher if you want a bow, I also play guntecher I dont hit as much with the s rank bow I have but it still is my favorite weapon on either class.

Speaking as another wartecher... lolacrotecher.
But no really if acrotecher is fine as it is even though if it already is kinda the same as wartecher.

I'm just bitter that wartecher was somewhat... invalidated, by acrotecher. I enjoyed wartecher muchly before aoti, it just feels a bit gimped now.

Just because someone suffers from dyslexia it's a reason for everyone to get rude and nasty, when something seems amiss.

...what?

Where the hell did dyslexia come into this? It'd be one thing if there were context, but there wasn't.

When I played Acrotecher, I was beginning to think I simply played a class with all kinds of better stats and was able to be powerful in almost all forms of weaponry they gave them. Then afterwards, it was kind of neat to find out that they indeed DO have limitations. The lack of a weapon with the range of a rifle or bow, or the straight defense piercing aspects of the Bow seemed like a nifty limitation to a class that seemed (at the beginning) impervious.

So after travelling around a bit, I found scenarios where I didn't feel like a ruler there, and felt that perhaps the ommission was for the best. That, and the fact that lots of great melee weapons aren't available to them, though the whips are keen. They're pretty devastating with wands and Shadoogs, too.

How can you feel "invalidated" by the most useless class in the game?

Akaimizu

Useless class, or useless players? Not that I feel that Acrotecher really steps on Wartecher's toes. They are significantly reduced in their melee abilities, by comparison. The whip is fun, and has it's specific uses for damage, but level 20 Melee limits keep them from doing too much with them, or any other melee weapon.

On the other hand, Sekani makes a point. I feel the class is good, but it does have deceptive satisfaction points that make a lot of players play the class badly. That is, they try to play them as just fighters when clearly that's not what they're supposed to be. Not only that, they effectively play well under their potential and don't realize it.

It's more like you need to know when to treat it as a fighter class and when to treat it as a techer class.

If everyone is healed and buffed, then have a little fun whipping stuff and inflicting status ailments.

If someone is hurting or has poison or something, switch to a wand/madoog and heal 'em.

But yeah, I'll agree though, people try too hard to play it like a fighter only class because of the whips. Under the right circumstances, they can do a few thousand damage quickly as well as give a nice advantage (like a certain 10* whip that stuns). People seem to go crazy just because they can use whips and forget they're a hybrid job that capitalizes on support.

But as for the topic of this thread... no, Acrotechers shouldn't have bows. As disappointing as that may be for a Fortetecher going Acrotecher... suck it up and deal with it.

I have to disagree. While, when played properly, AT is a great supportive addition to a party, it hardly takes WT out of the picture. If anything, a good AT lets me fight without dividing my attention and really take advantage of two handed weapons since I don't have to buff/debuff/heal every couple of seconds.

AT really lacks in the melee portion of their hybrid, so I don't see how they really take anything away from WT which focuses on the melee aspect.
