I've been out of the game since about May or June of last year. I just reactivated my account and am I bit of a loss for what to do. I have a fortegunner in the low 30s. I have the expansion, can someone give me a brief rundown on what's happened/changed since I left? I understand that there are a bunch of new weapons and some new classes and areas. It's a little overwhelming for me to wander around and try and figure everything out. What's important for me to know?

Weapons-wise, theres nothing new really for Fortegunners. You can't use the newest level of traps. To be honest, I don't think Fortegunner got ANYTHING worth noting with the expansion...

the best place to gain levels right now is doing the GBR missions.

theres a chance to get a map that gives 500% boosted exp

Sure the expansion is somewhat overwhelming at first, but pick and chose a few things to work on. Maybe start w/ this: expert classes now lvl to 15, 2 new classes acrotecher and acrofighter. If you like FG, stick with it and keep lvling. If not, play around until u find something u like. MP are fairly easy to come by in the expansion. Maybe pick up a few skills/bullets/techs to work on. Money also is drops better than before, so you should be able to get some new A/S ranks soon. Of course many will be out of your price range at the get go, but there are still plenty of upgrades available.
Basically lots of new things (missions, clothes, weapons, classes, PAs, etc), but just figure out the things u like and go from there.

I mean that the new S ranks, etc. in the fortegunner department aren't exactly anything to write home about. (Though, the S rank Yohmei rifle has amazing PP, so I guess thats something)

Don't forget the fact that Melee and Techers have gotten tons of improvements while Rangers still haven't gotten crap.

Agreed... Top three ignored classes (In no particular order):
Fortegunner, Guntecher, Fortetecher.

Wow... People really don't get how awesome Guntechers are do they o.O Apparently none of them played Guntecher pre-AoI... Level 10 techs, A rank Bows, and a TP that would even make a PSO cast laugh. It was a waste of time for me to even try to heal people, most people had 1500+ HP while I healed for a whopping 150HP. Pretty much a Guntechers job was to help the Fortegunners spread SE, and that was about it.

Now we actually have a use for Techs, and get S rank bows... so now we can laugh at the rifle wielding Guntechers http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

What's GBR and how do I find it? Also, how do I get one of those fancy new room designs with the grid based decorations? Has the rampant inflation gone down? Where are the new areas with the old PSO beasties?

New room design = Room makeover shop, Inflation? well, the economy has gone down to as normal as you can get I guess from haxeta, but i've been finding A's and S ranks pretty affordable since money drops much more often now(300 meseta from a level 1 pannon), which also scales up as you play with more players. The new areas with old PSO beasties are mostly on Neudaiz, at Sakura Blast in the Kugo Hot Springs and the Habirao area stuff, from the lobby after Forested islands. Also, there are old PSO beasts in the Forest of Illusion, but it is a Rare mission you get randomly after doing a moatoob mission.

Also, check out the Casino. You can get there from Moatoob. I can't recall which mission it follows off the top of my head. Any way, you can receive a silver coin there every day. Then you can use the coin to gamble for more coins or save your coins and exchange them for Casino items-- a music disk for your room, a room decoration or even a weapon.

Even with all the improvements, Guntechers still do crap damage with pretty much everything, even with their buffs. they lack damage output, but they have versatility and support. not my style, i'd rather use acrotecher.

as for the OP, here's what FG gets from the expansion.

new gun choices
-Mizurakihoh 10* Yohmei Rifle (Killer shot?)
-Raihakanoh 9* Yohmei Lazer Cannon (flower power!)
-Ryo-Bisotore 9* Yohmei Twin Handgun (My fave)
-Arb- Biso 8* Tenorah Twin Handgun (awesome effects)
-Aikasoki- 9* Yohmei XBow- Look cool, but Dunga set still better.
-Azul Fire- 9* GRM Launcher- More PP for more grouplocking.
-Suzakidanoh- 6* Yohmei Shotty- grinded to 10 it has 1700+ PP.

Level Cap Increase for Melee and Bullets.
-Now majarra, Buten, and Saber skills are useful.
-All bullets get a good increase in element and power at 31+

yeah its not as much as other classes (PT, FF, WT, GT) but FG is still a good class regardless, and can party or solo with the best of em.

where are the GBR missions? and what's the story on these "new traps". If I can't use them, who can?

mvffin
Feb 13, 2008, 03:51 AM
only protransers can use EX traps. and boy are they fun.

GBR is a set of missions that you can increase your XP and drop rates(in those missions only) by running those missions over and over. there's like 5-6 missions, so its not as boring or tedious as running the same one 50 times. your increase caps at 50%, but stacks with the rest of the party, so max for 6 people party is 300%.

how do I find a GBR mission?

they're all on moatoob right now. if you're on ps2/pc. 360 they havent started yet and are glitchy.

* System Defense
* Desert Terror
* Tunnel Recapture
* Caves of Ice
* Awoken Serpent
they are all in a line too, and end up in the casino. how convenient!
