View Full Version : Remember TTF? Why not on PSU?

I remember the good old days of PSO and playing non-stop runs of TTF (Towards The Furture) quest til 3 AM lol. It would definately be cool if Sonic Team decided to incorporate something of TTF's nature...Post here with discussion and see if you agree.

Where is the "no" option?

PSU has enough issues with people grinding the highest reward mission constantly, TTF was the worst thing to happen in PSO

I think TTF should just be an event for like a week or something, but nothing permanent.

Feb 17, 2008, 09:23 PM
either that, or there shouldn't be any boss box drops except at the very end, like a normal mission would have

I added a 'no' option.

Anyways, I always preferred Respective Tomorrow over Towards the Future. It had an interesting side-mission and was usually challenging, unlike TTF.

I wouldn't mind a long PSU mission that had a couple of boss fights in it. It would probably be something similar to the 1Up missions, but more interesting.

I miss that old PSO times with that cool Quests , not like PSUs "kill all enemys on your way"-missions.
there are a lot of quest could be transfered:
Toward the Future
Respective Tomorrow
Endless Nightmare Quests
Maximum Attack (what will happan)
Maximum Attack 2 (ver.2)
Phantasymal World Quests ...
Central Dome Fire Swearl (which could be combined with a Fire-SEED kontermination instead of only Flames)
Seat of the Heart ...

PSO was the non-plus-ultra... they should totally transfer it to PSU ... ... also they could add more Planets to the Gurhal System ... Ragol and new ones...

like it or not a lot of people like to chase rares. Granted, PSO has a LOT more rares to chase, but there will always be those folks who want concentrated missions like a boss rush (TTF), or a swarm (endless nightmare).

As long as the missions are fun and we keep getting new missions, I am happy.

TTF is the devil. Respective Tomorrow > TTF if I have to sit there and mindlessly grind bosses.

That was one thing that I always hated about PSO, every single person wanted to run TTF constantly, and nobody wanted to just have an honest to god run, c-mode, b-mode or anything.

The good old day's of grinding TTF not stop till 3am? The bad old days if you ask me.

TTF seems too easy when you're in a good Legit party..

if it was an Event like the winter event then my answer is "Yes"

If it was for a permanant stay ... "No"

I see the option of what is TTF, but no one has explained it. So... what is it? Can someone add a link or tell me (and everyone else who doesn't know) what it is?

Edit: Maybe I'm missing something, but I read the whole thread and I don't see the explanation. Just something about a Time attack, which I thought was Challenge mode...

I agree, theres too many kill all the monsters and not enough variety.TTF would be fun BUT if their going to remake quests, they should remake if not all, then most just so we not only have more quests, but more variety. I loved leading my friends thru a pitch black maze....

It's basically a area/boss run through PSO EP 1.

Right...A whole planet would just come into orbit randomly within everyone's life span. Makes perfect sense.

I don't know about you but I'd much rather have the unusual and unique missions such as Today's Rate and the like.

Or rather unique missions like them, not the exact same missions, to clarify.

TTF was already covered: Winter Event, with the popular blocks.

Also... wouldn't Max Attack G seem like TTF? It's staying after the Event too...

Oh wait, it doesn't have bosses.

If would be worse than the winter event people would go from lvl 1 to 120 in like 2 weeks with that mission. Other than that mabye if it was around for a week or 2 to 3 days a month, it would be cool. I mean look how many bosses PSU has it might be an interesting challenge though.

I wouldnt like it if it stayed for more than 2 weeks >_>.

An interesting challenge of this would be:
Dual in the Ruins B3, de ragnus
Desert Terror B3, Dimma
Awakened Serpent B3, De Rol Le
Electric Brain B3, Mother Brain.

It would be like the old TTF, except a rule should be added that makes us not be able to go back and restock, because it would be too easy.
(oh and exp should maybe be 75% of normal on the bosses, so people dont go nuts on it like in pso, and the people who still do dont level as much >_>)

An Endless Nightmare mission would also be so much more techer/ranger friendly, with all the nice large clumps of monsters... until the idiot hunters scatter them all, preventing us from racking up huge damage with the lasers, dam- techs, etc.

I'm SOOOOO sorry EN's xp didn't equal up to that of say Lost Heat Sword! It was still more fun to do and you didn't have to deal with that annoying little dude that doesn't know how to hold on to his stuff! Seriously I thought they moved away from Dreamcast days! =P

Another cool thing could be a "see how long you could last while they keep throwing monsters for you to kill." The longer, the more MP you could earn? Who knows its only an idea.

TTF was a quest in PSO(phantasy star online). Its real name is Towards The Future(TTF).It involved playing a short version of each level and the boss of each level which led to an easy way to level since the bosses gave good exp. thats basically it. And so many people hate it because it was (or is w.e floats your boat) really popular.

well it seems like most people who are against TTF/EN are just because of easier rares and exp... but dont forget those can be adjusted

i personally would love to see both of those, even if they gave 50% drop rates and 50% exp... endless nightmare was always a laugh when people started dying and freaking out lol and TTF has the fun of more bosses w/o all the easy stuff (as much at least)... so i wouldnt mind if i only got half as much exp, cuz the mission would be less boring than others

maybe some things to consider (for TTF):
the mission could stay full-time (as long as drops and exp are lowered to the point closest to the rest of PSU missions)
party limit of 4 (so moss fights arent quite as easy)
only 4-8 boxes per boss, or 16ish at the end (4-8 would be more convenient for people w/ a history of lag-outs in cutscenes)
1 or 2 exclusive drop per boss (extremely rare, with one box chance at each boss)
cant go back to lobby or join mid-mission (maybe even go so far as no scapes http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif -remembers bruce- psh nvm)

endless nightmare:
cant join mid-mission, party limit of 4
new idea: scape dolls are allowed, but a maximum of 12 DEATHS can occur
so if one person dies 10 times, one doesnt die at all, and the other 2 die once each, the mission would end on the 12th death, regardless of who it was or if they had scapes or not(otherwise, 40 scape dolls could be passed around the party long enough to survive much longer, not to mention moons and giresta)
pretty much same as TTF as far as exp/drop rates
exp/drop rates could increase at certain time intervals if the party survives, however, creature levels also increase
if the party lasts a significant amount of time, the exp/DR's could eventually grow over 100%, but it would be difficult to reach
loose example:
S2 w/ creatures starting at 90, exp/DR's 50% (obviously would be easy for 120's, but low exp/DR's - basically a warm up)
every 3 minutes, creatures gain 5 levels and exp/DR's increase 5%
at this rate, if the party lasts 18 minutes, the creatures would be 120, exp/DR's 80%
at 30 minutes, creatures would be 140 and exp/DR's 100%
anything after 33 minutes would start to have exp/DR's higher than normal, but creatures would be 145 (and buffed, why not? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

i just made this up on the spot, so im sure theres a lotta things broken in this plan, but hey it was fun lol any ideas?

Towards the Future is the name of a popular Phantasy Star Online quest. Its main draw was that you got to fight several dozen enemies and all four Episode 1 bosses within 30 minutes. People mainly played it to earn quick exp and find rare items. It also had some interesting side-quests such as being able to play as the PSO Dragon. TTF has made appearances on almost all versions of PSO (except version 1 on Dreamcast).

The main problem with Towards the Future is its popularity. Whenever you were deciding on a mission in a team-game, TTF would probably be one of the first suggestions. I've known people that played nothing but this mission during 20+ hour game sessions. Personally, I've played this mission hundreds of times and hope to never see it again.

EDIT: There is no mission on PSU which really compares to Towards the Future. The 1Up missions were probably the closest that we'll ever come to seeing it. If I was to put together a hypothetical TTF for PSU, it would consist of the following bosses: De Ragan, De Rol Le, Adahna Degahna, and Dulk Fakis. The bosses would seperated by short blocks, each one only consisting of a couple of rooms.

Personally, I liked Endless Nightmare over Towards The Future.

However, I'd also like Phantasmal World. I only did 3-4 runs of it, but I was with level 200's (Actually, I was with Uriko and Rath for all my PW4 runs IIRC http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif), fighting all the Ill Gills that would kill you-kill you dead-dead-dead. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Im just waiting for Sonic Team to get with the program and start giving us missions that resemble the best from PSO.

Gallons Trechery was the best fucking quest on that game. The camera alterations, puzzles, and everything was just such a release from the usual grind that it had no choice but to be fun EVERY time you played it.

Not to mention the leader could change the music of the stages anytime he/she wanted to.

I was praying PSU would be mostly missions like that, but hell we havent even gotten a BOSS that uses dynamic camera angles yet...

The thing that did it for me on EN runs was how you had to play as a team unit. Much the same as on a PW run. Each member of the party had an important part to play. PW4/EN4 on Ult were quite difficult, even when each party member was playing to their full potential.

I think they need to just put in PSO in PSU. there doing that event where the boards are there... but instead of a planet i was thinking a VR simulator, but i do like the planet idea better.

also another idea i had was how bout a virtual reality simulator like winter event, but all the blocks were random? and a random boss at the end?

but yea ttf ftw!
