View Full Version : Rares, events, and value

It seems that nothing in this game can hold its value. Halarods, one of the early S ranks, are now common and cheap. Kohibumiteris, once rare because they were a holiday drop, now have their boards sell for under half a million because of Forest of Illusion.

It seems that everything that is rare dies eventually to a new area or event with better rates. How long until 11*s can be had for only a couple million and people feed 10*s to thier PMs?

Halp Serafis are currently valuable, but with FoI now out, they too will probably plummet in price come Easter.

Quite simply, is there anything in this game that is not a losing investment? Is there anything that will not lose value drastically because of an event?

We're in a transition point until we get to 12* and up. Simple.

10/10 A rank weapons, and 50% 9* weapons are on the rise though. A few of what I bought when AOI was fairly new just doubled in price. As for rarity? Like said, we're just moving up to higher tier stuff. From day one I saw this happening.

First it's whining about people not being able to buy things because meseta is hard to come by and now it's whining about things being easy to find now...

Its got nothing to do with how easy something is to find. Its just that nothing seems to hold value for the long term, except for the rarest of rares... and even some items that were once in that category have become common.

any 10* weapon is easy to come by, the same 10* rares that uses to take several hundred runs to find the board not to mention low synth rates. it's an insult to the people who tried so hard to get them earlier. it's really pathetic at how long sega took to throw their player base a bone, having the game play be like that for so long and then suddenly making it so easy.

Eventually level 150+ missions will be released and then 13*-15* rares will come out and be as hard to get as 10*-11* used to be. Even now there are still some 11* weapons that are pretty rare, and most/all 12* stuff is still scarce. Only the best of the best will stay rare forever, and 10* isn't the best anymore. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

In PSO I got lots of S-ranks without even trying but they were mostly low-end S-ranks, not the really good stuff. You still had to try really hard for the good stuff. Look to PSO if you want an idea of how PSU will (probably) end up in terms of rares. It's just taking a while to reach that point.

7* A ranks were uber rare at one time too... and it's an insult to those who tried so hard to get them now that they are being sold in shops!

lol@people getting worked up over their completely luck-based videagame items becoming devaluated.

Welcome to the unlocked content scheme. As new shit becomes available, some of the older stuff becomes common. There is no "end game" with hard-to-obtain rares that retain their rarity. And it will continue this way until the game runs it's course and no longer recieves updates.

yes, and Color TV's use to be expensive. And a NES use to be top of the line game system. Isn't this what happens even in RL with things? More time passes, better stuff comes, old stuff becomes more common, and loses it's value. Even in RL, getting something first is just to feel more special. In the long run, expect everyone to have it and you're no longer special anymore.

lol @ "hard work" in a video game.

It's in Sonic Team's interest to keep players happy by making rares easier to find than to keep them at the previously ridiculous drop rates. And there are plenty of still-rare 10-11* weapons....Cubo Musrana, Zanshu-misaki, Hyper Viper, Halp Serafi, etc. and that's really because so few are hunting those things. Popularity has a lot to do with which weapons you see floating all over the place.

There's also items we can't hunt anymore, like Ank Bico and Hard / HP Restore. Those are gonna be rare for quite some time.

I like it, it's nice to be able to have weapons that don't look completely generic. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

The problem is that the existing rares are becoming more common, but nothing is being added above it. The "unlock content" plan only works if they actually unlock content.
