if SEGA offered the option to let players who play the offline game LAN play, would you try it?

since SEGA offered offline multiplayer for the GC and XBOX (i presume) it would be a good idea to offer LAN to PC players. Also players could copy their character files and bring them to other computers and play with friends together.

it would also boost up sales of a PC version of PSO for players who do not own the console but are fans of the game.

unfortunately... the PC version will be very easy to dupe but even theres a chance for people to dupe... atleast give legit people who would love to experience some multiplayer without p2p with LAN play. I mean SEGA could make seperate files sorta like Diablo 2 with Open Battle.net and closed Battle.net.

Another way to stop duping is to make everyone quit the game when someone else quits the game. Alt Tab is also disabled in PSO PC version so there cannot be hacking through manipulating files while the game is in progress. I do agree that duping would be a factor but would you rather have LAN play and play with friends and not worry about p2p fees? Lag would be better too if the game was played on LAN.

feedback plz? >.<

While it does open the floodgate for potential abuse, it would be enough to program some form of verification that would watch for illegitimate items and such. Much like the patch released in PSO Episode I & II Plus, which would not allow the duping hack and auto-detected hacked/duped items and removed them.

I am already a little bt upset that this game is not making it to the US, even more than it's PC only, which means even fewer US gamers will be interested or even able to play it.

Looking back at PSO, the original on the Dreamcast, and even the port for the GC.... it's easy to see that it was a winning formula. The game has some of the most loyal fans I know, and duely so... it was a wonderful game.

But they made WAY too many changes to the game by making the "Universe" series, which I was honestly just not a fan of. I tried... I really did.

I still own he imported Episode I and II for the dreamcast, and the Plus and on plus edition for the GC here in the states... And to be honest, I still pop them in and play every now and then... but I nveer get anyhing out of the new ones.

I really hope that while they do make changse to the new PSO2, they don't change it too much from the originals, and I hope it does make it to the states... PS3 and Xbox versions would be very welcome... and if they can manage cross-platform, even better.

Actually, upon thinking abut it... not having an offline mode in some way woudl really make this game less than the original, and that opens up the same pandora's box as the LAN function.

As long as some sysmte exists for validating the save file between offline and online, I will be happy, because then those players that get caught hacking, will no longer be able to ruin the game for the other online players.

(I say the ones that get caught becuase hacking just happens, and it's impossible to catch them all).
