Masamichi Amano meets SEGA (soundtrack news)

Recently, a new compilation/arrangement album was announced for release in Japan. Entitled Masamichi Amano meets SEGA (http://www.wave-master.com/amano/), this CD will compile original versions of various SEGA songs performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra (among others) as well as wind orchestra arrangements performed by the Shobi Wind Orchestra, conducted by Masamichi Amano. This CD will go on sale in Japan on April 23rd at the price of 2500 yen. A full track list has not been released, though it was recently revealed that the original orchestral version of PSU's "Save This World" will be featured along with a brand new wind orchestra arrangement.

I know it's nothing too terribly exciting for those who aren't fans of PSU's music, but for those of us who are, I figured you might like to know. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif I'll have more details as they arise.

From what I understand, it's supposed to reach into numerous different SEGA titles. I kind of expect to see some PSO songs pop up on the list. Maybe some pieces from Shenmue, too.

Whoa this sounds awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I attended the 'Play! A Music Symphony" and they did the Shenmue theme, it was amazing. I can only imagine how well this will sound, especially "Save this World" and PSO's tunes.

The only thing is trying to remember about this when April rolls around, I will have forgotten by then.

Some information on a new track has been revealed (http://ameblo.jp/blogams/entry-10081030455.html). "Three Fragments From PSU" is an arrangement of the themes "S.E.E.D.," "Neudaiz" and "Moatoob." Amano says that the "S.E.E.D." part of this arrangement will be very "avant-garde." The second part ("Neudaiz") will offer a waltz-y touch while the third part ("Moatoob") will bring a Latin taste to the song. (The original songs kind of already do that, so I'm curious how much things will be changed up for this.)

Oh, and one of the other games that's been confirmed for this CD is Mushi King.

I like those selections from the PSU soundtrack (which I actually really like, it's just unfortunate that we only really hear a handful of the tracks. Most of the really good ones are only heard once, like The Last Story).

Wonder if any of the classic PS titles will make the cut? I still love PS4's soundtrack.
