Sorry about the spoiler issue.

And I answered my own question with a little research.

[spoiler-box]Dark Falz who is the boss of the currently unreleased mission, Seal of the Dark God, is a reskin of De Rol Le.

There are good reskins and bad reskins... Motherbrain, Alterazoug, and Magas Maggana have significant differences from the originals, while Zoalgoug and Drilla Griena are just element-swaps.

Hopefully this one kicks it up a notch for moves, though the video doesn't give a whole lot of hope.

He does have more forms but they are reskins of Dulk Fakis.... We dont know about his 3rd one though IF there is one.

And to be fair, the first two Ep. II bosses were also basically reskins... but Gal and Olga were unique... SEGA just needs more attack variety with the reskins to make em fun.

I'm guessing many of the mechanics and movements should be adjusted, so this might not be as great as the original Falz, but should still be pretty fun.

Nothing to bag about the game, but someone should really do up a quick comic showing a defeated boss, (after the players leave the room) reappearing and running off to another location to put on a new Boss costume, but gets caught before they finish putting it on. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

The image in my head is too funny, but I just can't draw that good to do it justice.

True. Barba Ray and Gol Dragon were basically the same in overall appearance, animation, but had completely new (And much nastier, imo) attacks.

reskins are not bad, but they really need to just create new types of bosses instead of re skinning them.

Hmmmm well Dark Falz looks very sad compared to how he did in PSO
im not sure but.....is there a mission on the JP server where olga flow shows his appearance in PSU??????
I havent heard anything about it....

i HOPE they dont reskin olga flow "if they decide to bring him to PSU" you can even compare dulk falkis to olga flow.....lol on the fact that he looked better XD

hopefully they make it similiar to how he was in pso....or if not....something orignal

ENOUGH with the reskins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Stfu already. Dark Falz has no true form anyway, they never had to model him after his ugly PSO forms. Why cant you people take what your given, be happy you got it and shut the fuck up.

You fools SERIOUSLY thought they were going to re-program an entirely new boss JUST for the sake of a temporary event? Get the hell out of here.

More like they expect that the final foe of the game would give a interesting new fight then a rehash like everything else in the game is.

That is not alot to ask IMO.
I do complain too and i think ST is just plain lazy.

Here comes the firestarter!

Guess what? People have a right to be disappointed by blatant laziness, especially when they're paying for it. And lol, temporary just for the event? XD He stuck around after MAG, dude. He wasn't just for the event, yo.

Name two moves/movements that are the same between dragon and gol dragon...GO! They are both dragons yes, but in no way are they reskins of each other. Barba Ray is a reskin of De Rol Le and the PSU bosses are reskins of each other, but gol dragon is not a reskin.

1. Breathing elements counts as one
2. Dragon spits 3 fireballs or digs underground to circle the arena. The fireballs were so easy to dodge that they hardly made a difference at all. Gol dragon stamps the ground, throws a barrage of difficult-to-dodge elements, or splits into 2 or 3. This does not count.
3. The opening/dieing sequences may be the same, but the actual fight is not. This does not count.

The only thing about the dragon vs. gol dragon debate that could possibly be argued is the barrage vs. the fireballs. Even if you insist on calling this a reskinned move, I still wouldn't classify gol dragon as a reskin.

Sure he has no rtrue form, but even so, if he's part of a big event and we have to EARN him by getting a high enough score, I expect something damn good and new.

Though if he had to be a reskin or two, at least they chose the two best bosses in the game.

It's kind of annoying that they reskinned a remake of a PSO boss to be used as a different PSO boss though.

"Hey guys, let's design this boss for our game. He's the ultimate evil, and has no true form!"

"Perfect! That means we can cut down on development time, by just applying a new model and texture to an already existing boss, change some stats, and call it a new boss! It makes sense, because he has no true form... So therefore, he doesn't really have to be different from anyone!"

Is that about right? From the sounds of things, it looks to be so, but I don't know for sure... But I can say, that I wouldn't put it past Sonic Team, currently.

It's one thing to copy a boss' type into a new thing - De Rol Le and Barba Ray were similar, segmented, waterborne creatures that you fight on a raft while traveling down a channel of some sort. However, their attacks and patterns thereof were different enough that only a few of the key principals of the fights carried over (and some classes, such as Forces, ended up having to approach the fight in a very different manner). And while there are very few between the Dragon and Gol Dragon, the big change comes from the fact that you end up fighting multiple dragons at once, of potentially different elements, which also ends up changing a lot of the strategy behind the fight.

Now, from the way things are sounding, a lot of PSU bosses are apparently just repeats of almost-identical experiences, kinda like how a good portion of the enemies are. It's probably more of a lack of resources, or strict producer demands, than it is a lack of creativity, though. After all, they're in the business to farm money from people, and what better way than to spend as little revenue as possible?

Weeaboolits
Mar 22, 2008, 03:00 PM
Gol Dragon and Barba Ray also had the excuse of being simulated evolutions of their ep1 cousins, a small bit of a cop out? Perhaps, but at least they're honest.
