View Full Version : My MAG Theory (EDIT: Proved to be true? False - I was wrong)

Possibly not a very original theory, but here's what I think. In most of Europe, PSU:AotI was released on the 18th of January, one week after the start of the Winter Event. Obviously, 3 month subscriptions sales shot up, and it's probably fair to say that 3 month subscriptions shot up in the US for the start of the Winter event ("11/01/08").

Now I'm guessing, in a Sega Business move that MAG is there to entice people to renew their subscription. So my theory is that MAG will start either a week before or on the day most people's 3 month subscription runs out, so either 11/04/08 or sometime between 17th - 20th of April. Double that up with the official mods saying that MAG will be released before the end of April, I think those dates may be quite accurate!

EDIT: Big possibility my theory was true, however I was completely off with the dates. Turns out I forgot AOTI was delayed in Europe and GB to 25/01/08 - which is exactly 3 months before MAG. The plot thickens!

EDIT EDIT: Or 01/25/08, if you're American (you most likely are)

EDIT EDIT EDIT: No such thing as a 3 month subscription over here in Europe/GB, disproving my theory!

Over here in the UK the month and day are switched. So yeah, read it as 04/11/08.

No I think you really meant that we're going to be getting MAG on November 4, 2008 XD I could believe it.

I think April 11 sounds about right. I remember Chillura (or however you spell it) on the official boards said we would probably receive the rifle boost on/around the 11th too.

April 11th does sound ideal, but all Chillaura said was that we would get it "before the end of April," so it could start as late as the 25th.

Hopefully we can get the official announcement of it with more details on how it will work here (leader boards maybe : D).

Muwhaha! My theory pulled out to be accurately true, however my main post doesn't reflect that whatsoever DX

What I failed to remember was the fact that AOTI was delayed to the 25th January '08 in Britain and Europe, so MAG starts exactly 3 months after the European Release date. Funnily enough, 3 months is what most people pay for due to PlaySega's subscription package. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

The date has nothing to do with European gamers. We just seem to get events around 4 months after JPN pc/ps2 does. I also was guessing we would be getting our version of the MAg event in the beginning of April back in Dec when JPn pc/ps2 first started theirs.

How do you know it has nothing to do with it? I think it's just too much of a coincidence that on the 25th of January, 3 month subscription sales shot up (Due to AoI's release in Europe/GB) and on the exact day those subscriptions expire, MAG will start. I think there's a slightly deeper reason why Sega are releasing events 3-4 months apart...

This isn't true, I'm sorry to say, Europeans do not have access to three month subscriptions. We have a 30 day recurring choice that can only be paid through credit card (Mastercard or Visa) and a 60 day subscription that can be paid with either a credit or debit card.

Nice try though.

Holy cheese nips, you're right! I've purchased a 60 day subscription way back when PSU first came out and obviously got my 30 days for free, ever since my 3 months were over I pretty much quit and only recently came back. All this time I've been thinking its a 3 month subscription! Well that completely rules out my theory, my bad...

Also, US doesn't have 3 months either. We have a 30 day recurring, or a 180 day one time plan. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

HAD it been 3 months though! Nice theory. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
