FG defense modifier at lv 15: 100%
FF defense modifier at lv 15: 160%
(not taking into account that beast and casts get +3% bonus in these since it cancels out)

Beasts have the best HP, thus the best survivability. They may be confusing this with them also having higher dfp, because beasts can't really think well. Regardless, keep in mind that having a metalic core means that attacks do less damage than having a squishy core, and you should be good.

Personally I have trouble figuring out how CASTS can still burn and become poisoned.
