Billing site issues again?

I can't log on, and the PlaySEGA site isn't loading. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Edit:


Due to an outage on the Billing servers, the authentication system for PSU is not functioning on PC/PS2. We have alerted our billing team to the problem and will work to address the issue.

Please have patience while this work is performed. Once I have a better assessment of the outage, I'll try and provide a timeline for when they will be back up.

Sheesh! Are they using the original everquest servers or something like that for this game? Each universe only holds 300 people and several of them seem to crash while under a lot less stress. Not to mention how often they aren't working.

They're normally always working, I don't know what you're talking about. Each universe has a much, much bigger capacity than 300 people, considering each full star is equivalent to 200.

Max I've seen on today is two full stars, so 400-500 people on Universe 2. This is a completely unrelated issue, and I'm sure it'll be resolved soon. As Kylie said, go find a life for a bit and you'll be fine ^_^

It's only happened twice... and Xbox usually has to deal with delayed updates due to Live security issues. I wouldn't exactly call that "better treatment". As far as goodies go, eh, those Real weapons aren't so great lol. Not really worth paying over $500 just to switch a server IMO.

OK, it's been hours since it went down. This is pretty ridiculous. Has somebody contacted them other than just sit around and talk about it here? I pay to basically be able to play on the weekends just like I'd say the majority of the people here. During the week we have work, school, family and whatnot. We are paying for a game we cannot play. Something that operates on the weekends as well as during the week means that this is a full-time committment. Don't give me the bullshit about "well nobody here at Sega works on the weekends". Then why the hell is this game operational on the weekends? I'm not complaining because this game is my life. I am complaining basically because many people including myself got everything taken care of during the week so that we would have the free time to relax and enjoy this game on Saturday. Now we can't because Sega is flawed in their customer service? When I pay for something, I expect a certain amount of RELIABILITY. I don't pay for a risk that I may or may not get to play, I pay for a product that should be at my disposal as long as I continue to pay. Wake the fu*k up people and figure how we can get Sega to actually work for a product. If their excuse is that they aren't getting paid enough to work harder at PSU, than shut the servers down. I WOULD MUCH RATHER NOT PLAY THE GAME IF IT MEANS THAT I WOULD PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT I MIGHT GET TO USE SOMETIMES.

It's all good. I write more angry than I actually feel.

I get to play on weekday nights maybe for an hour. Nothing really concrete can be done in an hour so most of it is spent talking to random friends. I save all the good stuff for the weekends.

Now not only have I waited a week to play the game, Now it's two weeks? I have basically paid two weeks on a game that I haven't even been able to play. That's not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things but I DON'T MAKE IT A HABIT TO JUST THROW MONEY AWAY, no matter how much it is.

I already "barely" liked paying monthly for a game I get to play 4 different times in that month. I accepted that though because Sega can't abide by every single person's schedule.

I just came back less than a month ago and was already reminded of the few things that made me leave in the first place. When will Sega realize that if they actually cared and put a little extra effort into this hash of an online game, the fan-base would be much higher?

Not to bring WOW into this but they are a multigazillion dollar business now. But do you think when they were just a fledgeling MMO that they allowed the shit that Sega has let happen? They put a lot of work into their game and keeping it productive and they are seeing the fruits of their labor. I'm way more a fan of the type of game PSO and PSU is centered around than I am of WOW but there is only a certain amount of things a person will put up with for something they are interested in.

This is exactly the reason why Sega will always just be a 2nd (or even 3rd) rate gaming company.

There are too many faults. I've wasted too much money and so has everyone else. Sega screws up something every week, especially on the PC/PS2 servers.

*sigh* This game has been out for more than a year.. I've been here since it launched and we're always still plagued with the same probs.
The only reason I even stay with this silly game is because of the team of friends I've had all this time. Otherwise I woulda dropped this game sooooooo long ago.. At this point I dont even care to cap my chars at 130 lol.

Aside from having krap customer service, ST has no sense of community service either. There's nothing there to keep all us old schoolers happy and interested in this game we've played for so long.

I'm just waiting for the day me and my friends have anything else to play (that doesnt require a HUGE investment of time like FFXI)..

If it had been "whenever they felt like it," they certainly would've been drinking ST. Pattys day and got around to it later. A login issue preventing customers from even entering the game? Lol, I hardly think they'll make us wait till after Easter.

i was hoping that someone on this site would have more useful info regarding the downtime, ChaosAngel, it had nothing to do with previous issues. apparently sega doesnt stay in contact with us, so sorry for askin.
and i totally second McFly. i'm not placing blame on anyone at sega, but online health has been really bad for us on pc/ps2 lately and it would be nice if instead of little bonuses like +3 luck, they just give us assurance that our gaming will not continually be affected by online screwups. i dont remember guild wars having very many issues like this, and when they did, the players would hear from the admins within the hour. if they can manage this on a free online service, then i think sega should at least try to perform at the same level.
i dont want to have to retreat to offline mode in PSU like i did in PSO for the game to stay playable.

I just started playing PSU again a week ago after not playing for a year. I went out and spent 40 bucks on AoI (when I could have just downloaded off BT). Now I can't connect to the servers. This is just like PSO except now I'm paying to play. Actually, I think I paid for ver. 2 on DC if I remember correctly. Anyways, this is BS, there's absolutely nothing about the problem on the official site. Every other subscription based game I've played (WoW, AO, CoH. LoTRO ect.) has always had something on the site explaining the downtime. Even if it's just an apology and a note that says they don't know when the servers will be back online, at least it's something. It shows respect for their customers. *shakes fist at Sega*

I might even close my player shop temporarily with the message, "AFK 8 hours. Sleeping. Afraid to log off incase servers go BOOM."

I suppose I could start a cheesy one person protest against Sega and just leave one of characters constantly logged in for extended periods of time.

its been about 24 hours now, and not so much as an update on what the hell is going on down there. The reason we even pay to play online is so we dont have to go through these server errors for long periods of time. I can not believe its gone on this long without any kind of update on their site to what they're doing if anything. ( and i doubt they've been doing anything.... )
