Anyone feeling disillusioned? (About rares)

Im feeling pretty sad whenever I play this game now. This has nothing to do with thieves or cheaters or your average run of the mill PSO criminal (with the only exception possibly being dupers). Well, in the last couple of nights that I have been online, every game had something in common: there was a player with a lower level with some ultra rare item. I saw a ~lv20 with that flame shotgun (Bernie's gun, dont know the name), I have seen Chaos Bringers, Chainsawds, Stag Cutlerys, and a host of other super rares, God/Battles, etc.

Now, I know that these could have been found by a higher level character then transfered to a new character, but it brings me back to my original point. I have never found one of these super rare items yet. I have a lv100 character, with about 160 hours. No mag cells, no S.Beats, I do have a Delsaber's Buster (I traded a Book of Katana3 for it, cause I was getting sick of not finding a Delsabers arm). Dont get me wrong, I have some common rares, with some great %, and I do some pretty good damage, but where are these people finding these items? Everyday, I come home from work, I hop on and clear the Forest hoping for a Mag Cell, or an Al Rappy, and each time, nothing. I skip to the Mines looking for an S.Beats arm, and the Ruins waiting for that Chaos Bringer, and each time I walk over that green box, its a Trimate, of a Difluid, or freaking Meseta.

I have to say, that I really like to trade items, and I have had some pretty good trades (like the Delsaber's Buster), but with the way things are, I cannot trade, because I have nothing to offer, no super rare Spread Needle for a Holy Ray or something like that. Im "out of the loop" so to speak. And everyday, I feel worse about finding an item that is worthwhile. Does anyone else feel similar to this? Is anyone else po'ed that they cant find decent items? Please, there has to be someone who, with a high level and 160 hours, still cannot find jack squat. Anyway thanks for listening to this semi-rant of an article.

Join the crew, man. I have yet to find an ultra rare item. I hate joining a game where everyone has a spread needle but you. Can we say Exp. Hogging?

I felt that way too. It was terrible. I couldn't find crap. I eventually found someone dumb enough to trade me a stag cutlery+15 for a slicer of assasain+2. I'm always on the look out for those ultra rares.

Ask yourself; do you think that having ultra-rare items will really make your games that much more enjoyable? The answer is probably no, and that's why you shouldn't worry too much about it. Let everyone else obsess over what items they have.

I have about 90 hours now at level 65. I Just now found a double saber in ruins on normal. I'm pinkal by the way so you know it's special. Anyways just keep at it.. if not join a game with someone that has a different section ID.

Good luck.. and yes it does ruin the game to see a level 20 with a delsabers buster. I just saw it and it made me so mad. Oh well...

I always thought it was because I don't play offline much that I haven't found anything. The only thing besides the standard junk rares I've found is a fake agito (it's also 9 stars so I'm not sure if it counts as a real rare). And get this, I'm at 250 hours ;p. I keep running into lvl 18 - 50 players who seem to have one or more of everything. Maybe there really is something to that finding things much easier when you clear every quest on every difficulty? Bman: Your probably right, I mean, I like my Visk with 50% Dark bonus (hits Falz for 600pts). But I still wouldnt mind finding these items, that other people seem to find with relative ease.

I use a Vise +9 with some good %s, and I don't miss having a super rare... I play to have fun, and having something everyone else drools over doesn't always equal fun to me...

That Spread Needle? Is there any way to suck the fun out of a game faster? "I can kill everything in the room with two combos!" I got to try one out on a loan, and I've got to say that beating the caves by myself on V.hard was the worst 20 minutes of my entire gaming experience.

Yeah, I've got some ultra rares that I've traded for, but my Stag Cutlery collects dust in my bank account, and the only "ultra rare" I actually found was a "Custom Frame v.00," and I gotta say--rare or no--armor with no slots sucks axx.

So I run around with my vise, and pull out a Dragonslayer (also pretty common, really) every once in a while for some fun... but everything else I have just really sits there.

For me at least, it isnt so much as finding the rares to use, it is more along the lines of seeing the cool stuff the game has to offer... I mean, most of the ultra-rares look different, act different, and have different animations. I for one would like to just see them in action. That is enough to make me happy. Then I am just content w/ searching for them. But of course NO ONE seems to have these ultimate weapons.

Oh, and once you reach lv. 100, then yes finding rares really adds to your game. Cuz you cant level up anymore. So it is like having a small sort of level up, just by finding this new weapon that looks neat.

One of the reasons could be your section I.D. If u have Skyly it is much easier to find super rares. What I.D. do u have rekonstruct?

I dont agree w/ your statement. It is just easier to find certain TYPES of the super rares. If Sonic Team did what you proposed, I would have to seriously rethink my opinion on one of the greatest development teams in the history of the industry. Skylys just have it easier for stuff like swords... thats all. Yellowboze may be the only one to have a lower chance just because it is supposed to be the money ID. And everything else is of average ability. All ID's have certain rares they can find. That is there to promote trading. I will say that Skyly seems to be best for hunters tho (what I have, and I am a Force! Why couldnt I have been Pinkal!)

I definately can understand how you feel. I have a level 100 RAcast with over 264 hours invested in him so far and I have found no ultra rare weapons at all. I function fine with the standard rare weapon I am currently using. But I am dying for an Inferno Bazooka. I have done my time and solved all 3 modes of play. Now I would like to join the kick back, look cool and help newbies crowd of players.

If anyone who has found the Inferno Bazooka or the Flame Visit could please inform me of what level of difficulty and what location they found these weapons I would greatly appriciate the help.

Well after much reading its probably the worst: YellowBoze. I heard it only finds large amount of meseta, and so-so rares. But, it supposedly is able to find C.Bringers and S.Beats, but have never seen 1 yet. On the other hand my other character is a Viridia, so hopefully it'll get better.

Hey Nivek7, I think you can find one of those Flame Visits from a red slime in the caves.. good luck finding one of those too. Ive never seen any alternate monster yet.

The strategy guide simply says swords are eariler and more frequent, rifles are more common, and mechguns are very rare. This is not "every box you find has a Dragon Slayer +9." This is "the odds you will find some type of sword is marginally increased." There ARE items that are swords which are NOT rare, NOT valuable, have NO special trait, and NO plusses. These will still be found more often.

Again nobody remembers that online, the host's ID determines the items you find. Play online and join lots of games, and you'll find your share of ALL items, rare and otherwise.

I feel your pain guys. Although I still love this game rares or not. I have the Visk, etc with 55% dark, which might be better than the C-Bringer's rifle, but like anything, that which is rare is much more sought after.
I seriously think it has something to do with the quests. When I played on normal and Hard, I did a lot of the quests. On V.hard I have not. But it was on Hard that I found my rares. I think Im goona try quest more.

My HUmar is yellowboze id and I found ALL my good rares (S-Beats, etc) on Hard Difficulty. I have yet to find anything decent on V.Hard. I'm level 92 with 140 hours.

Ok I was a Humar around level 40(Bluefull) before I tried hard offline and Im lvl 78 now with more than 200 hrs logged.
If Im not wrong, wasnt I supposed to find More partisan weapons after lvl 45 and 150++hrs(hard onwards)? But nooooo~! All I get is high level discs, a couple of varistas/justices/vise/visks, Db sabers and clubs of laconium.Fine.

Until 4 hours ago, I checked out the webpage about "methods to increase rare item drops" again and did exactly what it suggested: go to every single corner of the game right from the forest to the ruins, one after the other without stopping. Now guess what did I find? 6 Battle Verges!!! Crap...what can my Bluefull Humar do with these things?!? I can't believe that is happening to me. Hey don't get yourself down. If you enjoy playing the game for the thrill of the hunt sort of speak then play for it. Don't let people who get nice items from friends ruin it for ya. It will just make the first one find that much better. Acel man all i find nowadays are partisans which i hate a lot (bluefull here), only found a few discs and mostly selling items although very hard's been treating me good with the armor depart.. 2 Delsaber's Busters, Angel/mind++(it's gold so it's rare), Bare Knuckle, and that armor the cave boss drops some parasite armor, varista(find these like mad sold pretty much all to shops), db saber(alot of these too), and that cane that forces use that supposely halves enemy hp with special, those are pretty much all i've found, and also mad nice 4 slot armors =). I got all those from offline mode though if i play online more i can probably find better items hmmm. What i really want now is a delsaber's left arm i want that shield i want to see how much better my buster would get =). If i can find a twin brand that'd be the bomb screw dbl sabers my ripper is better that that pose.

As for myself. using high% normal was a better option than rare weapons.

All I can say is C.bringer, Stag, Chain Sawd, etc etc are ALL DUPED STUFFS!!!

i felt that way, then one night around my 190th hour i found a mag cell, and then later that night i found chaos bringers arm that was the best day i ever had in finding rares but, it wasnt my best day of just havin fun. just stick with it have fun, and one day you'll walk over and you'll find your dream weapon. lol

I know exactly how a lot of you feel. lvl 100, 260+ hours played (sigh) and my best item has been delsabers buster, it's really starting to piss me off, so much time wasted. Drives me up the wall to see lvl 40's and lower with chainsawds and soniti mags and all that other rare stuff. If they are duping it then great, 1 more reason NOT to play this game.

And to the people who say to play for fun not for rare items, well, what fun is it when you are lvl 100 at 175 hours and play for another 85 to find those rare items since there is nothing left for you to do and find none? bah!!

I have seen 2 red flowers on very hard, one dropped 200 meseta, other dropped general power++ which I equipped to make sure it wasnt something else. Then I have seen an Al rappy twice on normal, both times it dropped crappy stuff, a barrier and a star atomizer. I fought a Death Gunner on hard and found an invisible shield (which is so easy for me to find)
so I have had very bad luck of getting things, I get all my ultra rare stuff from trade.

I hear exactly what you are all saying.

I'm a level 77 Redria RAmar.

I pretty much know whats going to happen when I pick up special weapons. The Tekker is going to laugh in my face as he hands me another Varista or DB's Saber.

But every so often... every so often something different comes up. I found three double sabers in two days, which are not super rare, but popular and good trading material. Probably the rares thing I found was a Cross Scar - and I didn't even realize it was sought after until I checked these boards.

Yesterday, as a matter of fact, I made two trades for a couple rares. The Cross Scar I traded for the Inferno Bazooka. I traded with a guy I knew pretty well, he had gotten it from an old school player who started with the import - so I'm hoping it was not duped but you just never know.

And I traded a DeRol 2 slot and one of the double sabers for a Suppressed Gun, from someone I trust who found it himself, just couldn't use it, so I know that one isn't duped.

And sure, while the Bazooka looks damn cool, I have other standard rare guns like Visks, Crush Bullets, etc. with high percentages that are actually much more effective.

So there are two points of view - focusing all your efforts on finding these super rares can be an exhausting and disenchanting way to play PSO, but at the same time, the point is made that for high level characters that have already done the level hundreds of times, what else is there to strive for?

I try to focus on just enjoying playing with my group of friends. That's the real meat of the game, rare weapons are just gravy.

the beauty of rare items is that they do are rare in PSO.. these items are super cool AND rare so when you find them, you are rrrrrrreeeeeeeally happy!!

Im YellowBoze and I've found tons of good stuff. Im only lvl 59 and with 78 hrs logged.
I found a Fire Scepter, Hunters Field, Flowens Shield and lots more.
Im still looking for those blasted mag cells tho...
