View Full Version : So...should I come back to PSU?

Yeah. I was started at the PSU launch. Had a lot of fun. And I'm the self-proclaimed first Cast in PSU (back then all I saw were short, overly tanned humans).

I left because I was fed up with the "updates", my little team had fell apart (they felt fed up too), and as a ForteGunner who specialized in Dual Guns (my strafing made me immortal!) I had nothing but sadness in front of me (;.; Can't get S-ranks).

Anyhoo...with AoI out. I heard about the Gun Master class and saw I could use Dual Handguns! Filled with joy I began to wonder if I should make a comeback. I -heavily- doubt my character data is still around. But I don't mind a fresh start.

So...how's the servers these days? Does it have enough players to justify jumping back on the PSU bandwagon? What about events? Will I still get pissed at Sega for having events right after my 6 month subscription ends?

I miss ol' Kenji and my old cat Kage. Dual Handguns and Dual Daggers=fun.

-Edit-
I was on the PC/PS2 Servers.

Our servers won't have Gunmaster for at least 3-4 more months.

No change in (sucky) updates.

up to you to return or not...

Were you on PC/PS2 or 360? Cause for the community thing, PC/PS2 hardly ever reaches a full Universe nowadays. And We are getting an Event on the 25th, so I don't think you're subscription will run out before it http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif. And really it's up to you if you want to come back, you may still get frustrated at the updates, but that's a personal issue that can't be changed if you still feel that way.

Well, it'll take me 3-4 months of hardcore gaming to level Kenji back up to his old level (unless Sega keeps character data for a ludicrously long time). That and I won't be able to play for a while because of issues.

Oh, and ashley50. CAST POWER!!!
(Back in the day when I was bored I'd rant about Cast superiority for kicks. :3 Seeing the words "CAST SUPREMACY" brings back good ol' fun memories.)

-Edit-
FYI, I was on the PC servers.

As someone who also started at launch then quit, I was impressed when I recently came back. The mission selection is much improved over launch, meseta drops were improved (250+ meseta was dropping on C rank Linear Line, a nice surprise), There's a fairly large selection of new parts / clothes, as well as items available at the casino.

Mag is coming soon, as well as a PA adjustment, new classes, missions, and items. The mission points (types leveling) are much easier to come by in AoTI, with even a few C-rank missions giving well over 100+ per run. The PM's have been improved with new types added, increased storage potential, as well as store bought items to change the type of PM, which I've found very handy when switching job classes.

While ST has had more then a few flawed updates, I'm happy I decided to give PSU a second chance and would have no problem recommending a return.

Hmm...thanks for the input so far.

But my main concern is how easy it is to form a team? I can solo fine but I'm better in a team, and best in a team of regulars. As a Twin Handgun specialist (my quick-weapon select thing was filled with Twin Handguns) I rarely get hit since I constantly move, dish out status effects, do decent damage, and waste A LOT of PP.

: If I can't find teams a good amount of the time, I might be all "poo".

I heard talk of PvP?

This true? Because back in the day I was all ">0 I needs me some PvP!".

Damnish.

: Even though the advanced PAs prolly pwn.....I was a (self proclaimed) master of the basic dagger PA. I somehow picked up the animation perfectly and could move to a good attack point. Spamming that I could rarely get hit in a crowd. I was always hoping a PvP element could be added and see how that would play out.

I'd go on offline mode...but you only have one char. And I can't choose between my love for my Cast and Beast.

If you do come back, expect an entirely different and more developed game than you played previously.

More missions, easier S ranks, and much more new stuff that I can't think of atm. Problem is, most people stick to White Beast, so if you're trying to find a party, that is the best place to check (assuming you have/are getting AtoI).

Easy missions....pfft. Give me harder missions. This game has gotten obscenely easy in the last 6 months. Anyone remember the first version of the Bees? They were like agents from the Matrix. You couldn't hit them unless you were a FT. Everyone shied away from bees. All the Bee runs in Seabed were avoided by all but the hardiest parties. Anyway...
On topic. Should you come back? Well, I believe the pertinent question would be, do you WANT to come back?

If you liked the core basic system of the game, IE grind up a few levels to get sparkly weapons to use to grind more levels to get more sparkly weapons, then the game is quite updated with lots more stuff. If you hated the core of the game, then I doubt any amount of content will make you want to stay. I'd personally say wait for MAG and try picking it up again to see if you like it, MAG will be an event coming on the 24th or 25th, with PSO style stuff and increased exp + droprates. Course, recent trend of any exp boosting event makes the community go BAWWWW about leveling too fast.

I think its a good time to come back, in terms of stuff to do and get. And with Chillaura and the new sonic team us management/support team, it feels like if something goes wrong they will try to fix it fairly quickly, which is nice.
