Mother?

Seriously, why the obsession with Mother in FFVII:AC?

Anyway, on with the actual question.
Does anyone agree with me that Kadaj's sword is pretty nifty?

Haha oh wow what a shitty sword.

If that thing got blocked, parried, or hit any thick armor, it would get bent to hell or just shatter.

Might be good for slicing fruit. Otherwise, I don't see the point.

I never looked at it like that.
I guess it is fantasy. It ain't gonna work IRL.
Kadaj should get a new job; fishmonger.

This is FF. Steel weapons are usually among the absolute worst.

Like trapping someone else's sword between the blades and turning it, pulling the other sword out of the other guys hand. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Being able to twist your wrist hard enough to yank a sword out of the entire GRIP of someone's hand would mean you were probably strong enough to not need a sword in the first place.

Depends on where you catch the blade. If you've got control of the tip, leverage would let you rip it away with minimal force. Of course, this only applies if you don't have it caught in the tip of your blade, since then the advantage is negated.

You'd still need something to defend yourself with, though. Even the strongest person's skin can't withstand being cut to shreds.

You couldn't 'catch' it in the tip of the blade, however, as it has the same distance between the two blades all the way down. They could just stab you with it, then.

This is hard to talk about without illustration and I'm afraid I may have to open up paint.net if it continue son much more.

Hey. the Sai called. They're telling me they want their job back.
http://www.karateklub-zastava.org.yu/images/slike_oruzja/sai.jpg

These are weapons designed for disarming foes. They short and stout and sturdy. Perfect for catching a foes weapon. And no, these were not invented by the TMNT.

On the sword in the picture, it'd be incredible impractical. It's weight would be similar to that of of a claymore but lacking in the cutting power and force due to the dual blades. The blades wouldn't get through much because neither weigh a lot. The sword would be as heavy as a claymore without the power. Catching a foes blade, while incredibly difficult due to the length of the weapon, would be a terrible idea since it leaves you locked as well.

shligger, the sword in the pic is not impractical... atleast not compared to this one...

you can't see it from that angle but the sword actually has five edges... if a stone column and a buster sword were to have a bastard child this sword would be it...

That sword isn't impractical. It's not usable. The dual bladed katana thing is at least applicable as a weapon. A terribly inefficient, cumbersome, and weak weapon at that but still a weapon. That club in the picture couldn't be lifted much less swung.

the only reason why karura can use that bloody pillar as a weapon is because she's a cat girl... physics is optional to them...

Don't think cat girls anime and other weapons are going to go over well in the FKL, but we're already far from what the topic Out_Kast intended.

I'll ready a dhylock anyway.

TalHex

i've often wondered this... how does a dhylock work? when you say you'll ready one, does that mean it has to be used like a torpedo or something, with like 50 safety proceedures to go through before you can use it?

HAYABUSA-FMW-

Its best I don't go around discussing it.

I think I have a button to call your moms' and another to call dhylec directly, and or his cliche sexy female assistant if she answers first.

That's all you get. (this reminds me to add something to the Moo Back thread)

As a matter of fact, the Sai was designed for planting seeds. Most melee weapons out of Asia originated as agricultural tools, including the legendary Nunchucku; this tool was used to thresh wheat, as I recall. Various blades were used for various purposes, including the harvest of grains. Really, the only weapon designed for the specific purpose of killing a human, is the sword.

Also, for what it's worth, the OP's dual katana, while a neat idea, would be less effective than a normal katana, not so much because of weight (it wouldn't be too horridly heavy to use; if anything, the added weight would provide more inertia, and therefore, more penetrating power), but due to a simple rule of physics-- Katanas work very well because a large amount of force is applied against an extremely narrow surface. With this sword, the surface area is doubled, so a weaker material would be adequate to stop it.
